I'm just a guy with a lightsaber, a six shooter, and a few questions. Age: 24 (ModDB should still have "Show Age" as an option). Current Game(s) Most Looked Forward To By Me: Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
Good God... I remember these "good ol' times"
I really could never get into this series.
I hated the cutscenes in AC1. Although AC2 was fantastic I wouldn't recommend playing AC1 unless you really want to get the story a lot more.
Although that being said there was ONE cutscene out of the entire game which I thought was amazing and well written. When Altair goes to Jerusalem to speak with Malik for the first time in quite a while Altair says something like, "Safety and peace Malik." to which Malik replies with something like, "Your presence robs us of both."
The Desmond parts were silly, not needed and ruined the game for me.
Yeah they shouldn't dumped the whole Desmond/Animus thing and just set the game's in their appropriate timeframes. The whole DNA, ancestor stuff was just garbage.
Indeed, I agree.
So was Space Pope.
If you think Desmond and all the modern day stuff is useless then you don't understand the story at all:( also what do you mean by space pope? Jupiter? The first civs? Rodrigo? All of them were vital to the overall story as AC isn't just about murdering templars. It would be very lame and boring if it just involved killing targets with no real story in my opinion.
I see what you mean and we can all have our opinions, but like with all the history of the world and historical figures SURELY they could have thought of something better.
I mean..like especially during the Renaissance so much to work with there.
@Elf
They could have still crafted a very good story around the conflict between the Assassin's Guild and the Knights Templar over the course of history. The First Civilization stuff was just plain weird, and the the Desmond/modern stuff was just a boring waste of everyone's time.
But would it have been so connected? Also I feel like a regular battle over the ages with the Templars would be better done in a mount and blade style. AC is about the story of how the Templars and Assassins fight over tech made by the First Civs. If they didn't have that to fight over what would the main story be? What would make the struggle important in a way that would impact all of humanity if either side won?
Also in responce to matt's comment as I'm not going to double post.
