The good point is that it will save FPS and avoid as much as possible micro-loadings, it's fine and fit perfectly :)

Impressive work! Just the background wall looking unicolored a bit, when you have dynamic lighting/HD textures/bump mapping on all the rest of the shot :) Maybe with decals?

It's impossible to recreate STALKER under L4D2. But the Crysis version is amazing, you should check Sector 23!
They already replied about the particles question, it would eat to much ressources, and their engine can't hold it.
