A long time! (Where have I been?)

Mariotravel209 Blog

So it's been indeed 2 years since I was last active here on ModDB. I was greatly anticipated by releasing what I thought at the time to be my greatest works yet to be released! Unfortunately, my PC broke down around March 2015 thus ending my development for the "Markiplier" mod. I was around 13-14 years old when I started development for the mod and I wanted to put all my time and effort on it. It's surprising how I wanted to build maps, let alone mods at such a young age. Using the Orangebox engine at the time, I was very lucky (and so was many other people) to have all the tools and support from the Valve Community needed to program awesome stuff into the mods. Obviously, we're at a time now where most of that has been swept away thanks to *cough Steampipe *cough.

But back to the point, I'm about to be 18 in two weeks and looking back at my Markiplier mod page, I was pretty stunned! (Both good and a bad way) As of now, I'm no longer into Markiplier neither his content. What hit me the most however was both the amount time and work I've put into this mod at such a young age! Sure, it's not top-quality, but it's pretty good (imo) for what a 14 year old can do! Yes, the concept was silly and many people didn't took this seriously, which I perfectly understand. In fact, I've gotten into plenty of arguments with folks in the comments section. Again, I was 14. xP (I won't delete them, so you can see for yourself how I was back then.) But from my eyes, it was going to be pretty epic!

And then my PC said no. :)

So where have I been all this time? Right now, I make SFM's and Music for YouTube and I still am after these 2 years. I still make maps, but mostly for my work in SFM. However, I do have maps currently in the works for CS:GO and Garry's Mod and will be released pretty soon! As you can see, times have changed! I wish I can say I was back, but I'm mainly here just to let you guys know where I've been! For the gameplay and content, "Markiplier" was pretty good at the time and I would be lying to you if I said I didn't had fun making it. But I was too young and ambitious to consider many important aspects of the mod itself, let alone it's concept. Like probably the most basic thing to consider was having backups. The only thing I've recovered from the mod was it's first map. I'll probably be using the map sometime in future projects!

I don't plan on returning to the modding scene as I have zero knowledge on programming for the Source Engine. I don't even know where I should start to learn with coding the Source Engine. The programming for "Markiplier" was mostly copying and pasting from the Valve Developer Community wiki. What made "Markiplier unique was for its story and the maps. Now that I have a powerful PC and a laptop, I sometimes map for fun while I'm on the go. I might have small HL2 mods in the work, but as of now I won't be able to make any promises. I've learned my lesson with the Markiplier mod. I don't plan on releasing any mods, but when I do have something I'll let you guys know! I would love to give a very special thanks to those who showed their love and support for the Markiplier mod. I apologize that I wasn't able to complete the mod. Hopefully, I'll have something in store for y'all in the future.

Until then, I'll see ya when I see ya! ^^

Mario Mods in General

Mariotravel209 Blog

Around 21,234 ModDb Members currently know that I'm making a Markiplier mod. Some people may ask me some questions, some might just tend to criticize on a mod that's not released yet, and some people tend to give out support. For all of this, I thank you all because what you're doing is not only supporting my mod, but you are supporting me as well. You are giving me the confidence and encouragement in believing my mod is going to turn out more than just great. People believe that I'm making a mod just to get attention, which is not true at all. Making mods is something I love to do. I'm not doing this for business at all. Sure, people may ask me "But you just added and removed a donation button from your mark page!". One thing I'm going to say straight up is I would never take money from other pockets for my own needs. If I took money from you guys It's only going to be used for my own mods and nothing else. But as of right now, I already know you guys hate it when anyone ask for money (especially since I haven't demonstrated what my mods going to be like). Which is why I removed the donation button.

Thank you everyone for the support, and don't worry. My mod is close to being here! The next time you see a release date, then you will know that the mod is fully complete.

So basically, I'm making a mod right? The question is "Mario. Is this the last mod your going to make?" Answer is No. In fact, I'm planning to release FIVE mods in ModDb later in the future. "Well, what are those mods?" I won't give out any information about my upcoming mods, But i'll tell you what's my next one, my plans, and what type are they.

My next mod will be a mod called: Synthetic: Source
Synthetic: Source is a Half-Life 2 singleplayer campaign taking place In Eastern Europe, 2054. You will play as a chemical physicist from Black Mesa trying to steal the Synthetic formula from the Combine.

Yup, that's my next mod. ;)

My plans as of right now is After I release my Pre-Alpha version of my Markiplier mod, I'm going to take a 2 week brake from modding (because I've been working on this mod for almost a year -_-). After 2 weeks, I'm going to work on my next project "Synthetic: Source" which is aimed to be as a very simple HL2 Campaign, after this one, I'll be working on a certain Multiplayer mod, and after this I will continue finishing my Markiplier mod for good. These are my plans as of right now, and I hope everything is going to turn out great!

And for the final question, five of my Mods are going to be singleplayer based and only one is going to be multiplayer based. Crazy, right? All are FPS. All with unique characters and storylines. You name it.

Before I leave my first blog post, I want to spread a message to those who are planning to mod. My message to you is Don't look down in your own mods and never give up. If you don't want to work on a certain mod anymore, then leave it for later but don't delete it. Because you will never know when you could change that certain mod into something better. The modding industry is a great start for those who are planning to get into Video Game Designing. Follow your dreams. Expand your Imagination. Get Inspired. Be Creative. Take hate and love as encouragement. If your down, then get back up your feet. Believe in yourself and Play smart ;)

Thank you so much guys, and I'll see you all on the Pre-Alpha Release!
