Mod Review on Aug 6th, 2014 - 2 people agree 3 people don't
This review may contain spoilers

Positives:

- Really scary
- Intresting story
- Well made puzzles
- Custom music/entities etc

Negatives:

- Many flaws (Read further down)
- A random crash
- Death system would be better if it wasn't for the Save and exit
- Monster music was too loud and annoying at times
- The fight at the end of the story felt a little bit confusing

Personal things: (doesn't effect the score, but are still negative)

- I don't want to replace/merge any files when installing conversions
- I'm not a fan of mazes, and you made 3 of them in one story (too repeditive)

Flaws:

*Spoiler alert*

- If you move the levers wrong in the first mansion map, then hot steam will burn you and you will lose some health. Although, I managed to throw a barrel on the lever from a distance, made it move down and I was still hurt by the steam even though I wasn't close to it. Same if you move it while crouching.

- Some areas outside windows and the first orb room have "holes" in the ground. In other words, the planes were either too smal or not there at all.

- The orb piece stuck in the pipe could be picked up. Doing so caused the game to randomly crash after I completed the coal quest.

- The suitor chase scene was glitched for me. The character refused to stop looking at the door untill the last second. I barley managed to escape. Then, after almost reaching the elevator, the character turns around once again, a rock fell on the suitor but didn't kill him, the suitor attacked me and I died. Tried again, and it happened once more.

- Monsters got stuck sometimes. Suitor fell down to the coal quest area and could not get up. Brute got stuck at the stairs when he was chasing me. I tried to hide at the barrels and he just kept running on the stairs (invisible block boxes I suppose).

Conclusion:

I really enjoyed this story despite all the flaws and bugs. The story was intresting and had a few plot twists, it was very scary and the levels are made in unique ways. Well done!

8/10 - Very good

Mod Review on Apr 25th, 2014

Positives:

- Extremly well made levels
- Voice acting
- Intresting story
- Great details
- Several paths to take

Negatives:

- Low challange
- A lot of unanswered questions (story felt unfinished)
- Bad ending
- The "3 door paths" leads to the same place

Neutral: (Neutral opinions does not affect the score)

- It might just be me, but it was kinda hard to hear what the voice actors said at times. Subtitles, if you know how to add that, would be great

Improvements:

I personally think the levels are very beutiful, but there is almost no challange at all. Almost no monster encounters, puzzles are very easy to solve, etc.

It felt to me like the story wasn't very well developed on because of the short lenght of the mod. I have no clue who the boy in the office flashback is, why the woman was murdered and so on.

The ending felt so random. *SPOILER WARNING*. I went into a room, a womans voice said "I forgive you" which made no sense since the man voice said several times that I was going to die and that I deserved to be punished and so on. Then it began to burn and then a black screen with no fading at all. The end. It didn't feel very satisfying.

I had to, during one scene, choose between 3 doors. I though that my decision was important and would change the story depending on which door I pick. All doors led me to the same place immidiatly.

Conclusion:

A beutiful, short story that is good because of the design and story line. I wouldn't recommend it to people that wants challange or a long story though.

No Escape - Amnesia Custom Story

Mod Review on Apr 22nd, 2014

Positives:

- A lot of scary moments
- Creativity
- Good design

Negative:

- Weak story
- Not much scripting
- A bit too short

Conclusion:

It's a great CS with a lot of scary moments and good level design, but the story line is weak in my opinion. I have no clue why I was in prison to begin, the people in the notes and the protagonist was not developed at all and the ending wasn't satisfying.

In short: It was a great Amnesia experience, but with a weak plot.

Recursive Confinement

Mod Review on Dec 28th, 2013 - 2 people agree

Positives:

- Huge creativity
- Well written story

Negatives:

- No real intro
- The objects you need could have been a bit harder to find
- Mapping can be improved
- Not really scary at all
- Glitch with the mushroom (if you throw something on it, the gland is not there)

Neutrals: (Does not affect the score)

- The "going back to the bedroom" thing is a nice idea and I understand it's an important part of the story. Still, it could be a bit annoying in lenght.

Conclusion:

The mapping is not a "wow" factor and it offers a low challange. Although, the story is very well written and that is a huge plus from me (since few people focus on the story nowdays), I found very few bugs and I enjoyed playing it. A lot of things can be improved for future stories/patches, but it easily deserves a 8/10 anyway. Good job!

The Well: Descent
8 Review

Mod Review on Nov 19th, 2013

Positives:

- Not a cliche story line
- Creativity
- Intresting idea
- Great level design

Negatives:

- Bugs
- Short, and sadly, chapter 2 is nothing to hope for
- Sometimes a bit hard to solve the puzzles
- The music that played when unlocking the storage room did not fit at that event in my opinion and was annoying to listen to after awhile

Conclusion:

Due to the mix of positive and negative reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect from this, but it turned out I actually enjoyed this quite a lot actually. You have a lot of great ideas and the story itself is unique and well made.

Some bugs here and there, like the levers. I placed one lever and accidently throwed the second lever at the same place. It disappeared even though it was already a lever there so I had to restart from previously saved game.

Price of Immortality

Mod Review on Oct 30th, 2013 - 3 people agree

Positives:

- Deep and well written story
- A lot of endings based on your choises
- For a new mapper, the level design is decent

Negatives:

- Lack of challange
- Short
- Bad horror element
- The cellar "monster" only appeared once. I expected more challange or at least more encounters

- The flashback text is on the screen for 2-3 seconds. Sometimes hard to read it all
- I could pick up the lab key in the desk without using the hammer first (place it further in or spawn the key after the hammer have been used)

Conclusion:

The story is short and I wasn't pleased with either the scares or challange because there is barley any challange or scares in it at all.

But it's still very enjoyable thanks to the well written story. It actually made me think and reflect about my own opinions of the subject in question.

Next time, make it longer and practise more with scares and challange and I'm sure it will be a bullseye.

Edit:

You fixed a lot of flaws and did some other positive changes. Not only did you make it better, you also care about your work and what people tell you to fix which is a huge plus. +1 in score.

Mod Review on Oct 24th, 2013 - 3 people agree

Positives:

- Creativity
- Great level design
- Decent story
- Challenging puzzles

Negatives:

- A lot of glitches in the cellar map
- Ending was not as hard as it sounded like
- The final sequence was honestly pretty lame
- Voice acting

Conclusion:

Crates and other objects glitches through the wall on the second floor in the cellar map and the brute got stuck at a door frame twice, but other than that, very intresting and scary map. Awesome steam puzzle!

Dramatic music at the end, but the grunts were easy to avoid.
And the ending sequence (when you use the knife on the man) was not only hard to find, but it was pretty lame. It took me like 5 minuts to find it and nothing happened. It should be a "bad ending" if you don't find it in time. The voice acting was also pretty bad and sounded like something forced by a guy with almost no emotions at all.

--------------

Except for all that, I really enjoyed playing this! Very creative puzzles, lovely level design and a decent story. I think you did a great work with this.

Mysterious Mansion

Mod Review on Oct 22nd, 2013 - 1 person agrees 1 person doesn't
This review may contain spoilers

Positives:

- Creativity
- Nice level design
- Variation of quests
- Not a cliche story
- Suitor scared the crap out of me
- Voice acting (almost nothing but it's still voice acting)

Negatives:

- Lack of story
- Lack of details
- The ending
- Chemical quest
- Horrible grammar

Conclusion:

The story is intresting, but feels unfinished. I still don't know who the intruder were, what happened to the husband, the people involved with the torture and what purpose the Brute served. The grunt had a reason to spawn as well as the suitor. The Brute on the other hand only spawned once and served no purpose at all in my opinion.

Ending felt rushed and looks like a bad attempt to copy the original "Daniel/Revench" ending from the original game. There's also no music at the end.

In short, it's a good start, but the story feels unfinished and not well made.

------------------

You have very few details such as particles, sound effects etc. And the fountain in the underground castle part doesn't have a "liquid" under it, so it doesn't sound like you are jumping in the water.

------------------

The chemical quest worked great, but how does the character know which chemicals he need to find when all the note says is "You need 4 chemicals". What chemicals? ^^

When I activated it, I ran to a room quite far away from the explosion. Still got badly injured. Seriously? -.-

------------------

Aside from all that, I really enjoyed it! You did a great job with it, and the suitor scared the crap out of me!

Mod Review on Sep 18th, 2013 - 4 people agree
This review may contain spoilers

Positives:

- Awesome new ideas! (Paiting for example)
- Voice acting
- Well made scares
- Creative quests

Negatives:

- Short (although it said in the credits that more is coming)
- The ending
- A few level mistakes (a gap between planes, missing/invisible tables)
- None of the monster encounters were hard to avoid
- The cure quest

Conclusion:

The plot is twisted and I honestly liked it. You have a huge level of creativity and I enjoyed playing this story a lot. But, like most stories, some things can be improved.

It's very short and the ending is way too easy. A note said the orb is further away than expected, but yet I found it in no-time.
I was expecting some sort of "you must find a way to destroy the orb" with some chase scenes or what ever. I touched it, clicked on the door and it was over. No challange.

Everything else is pretty simple as well. The monster encounters were easy to avoid. I admit, the grunt at the door event got me, but he didn't hit me even once.

I liked the "find me a cure" quest with the guy behind the wall, but the quest was basicly served on a silver plate! Blood and mushrooms right next to each others in one room and the only thing I had to do was boiling the blood. Once again, zero challange.

I found one gap between a couple of planes, although nothing serious and barley visible. When you get the key from the "cure guy" and enters the camp, however, at the gate you need the cards and cogwheel for, there's a lot of floating items. Probably missing table entities.

Great start! This sick twisted plot will hopefully continue in the future.

The Mansion 1408 [Cinematic Mod]
8 Review

Mod Review on Jul 27th, 2013

It's so short. Only a few minuts of gameplay sadly, but the few minuts I did get to play were very well made and nicely detaild

Positives:

- Very detaild mansion
- Creative
- Good story

Negatives:

- Soooo short
- Very few monsters and half of them means gameover if death
- All the endings feels rushed. Outro or anything would make it better
- English text, but english voice acting would also be appreciated

Conclusion:

I really liked it, but I wish it was more. Feels like it lacks both gameplay and satisfaction which are two important things needed to enjoy a story.

8/10 - Very good
