- Decent level design
- Good story line (at least to begin with)
- Some unique things
- Huge lack of story
- The only scares in the story are chase scenes pretty much
- The puzzles were most of the times very easy and boring
"Best custom story award".
How?! Okay, it's from 2011 and stories are generally much better nowdays as both the authors and the level editor improves, but still, this one as the best story?
First of all, it feels like you guys made a story line which were decently good, but after just 1-2 maps you completely gave up on it and focused only on the maps and added a chase scene in half of them.
The maps are nothing really special. Most of them are very short, undetaild and just looks pretty bland in generall and the puzzles and most of the scripts are pretty simple and boring.
On a side note, when I saw pictures of a jaguar monster and heard a jaguar sound in the forest map, I kinda expected a custom monster to appear. I was wrong. A bit disapointed but on the other hand you didn't say you added a custom monster.
I do understand why this story is so unique and popular, but to me it's another decent story. It's not bad, but it's not special either.

- Very creative
- Amazing ideas
- Some of the level design is good
- Some really nice scripts
- First part of the story has horrible level design with glitches and empty rooms
- If you destroy the key in the glassjar on the orb pedal, you can't pick it up
- I load an auto save and everything was messed up (was forced to restart the story)
- Almost no monster encounters (I heard them 5-8 times at least. It showed up twice)
- The rollercoster was honestly bad and boring and did not make any sounds
- Lisa has a male kid voice
- Bright outside, enters the mansion, suddenly pitch black outside
- Unlocked a door with a musicbox (like, really?)
- "I see no reason to carry it with me" 10 seconds later I need the gascan... also, it lit itself
- Story in overall makes no sense
- Ending felt rushed
During the first part, I almost cried when I saw how horrible the level design were. Luckily it was better the second half. Still, it's a huge minus that a huge part of the story is so horribly made.
Nothing made any sense at all and you really need to do a little bug fix patch. Although, I loved your creativity and the story is not like anything I've ever seen before. Because of that, it still, even though it was so annoying to restart and the first part almost made me cry by how terrible it were, it still deserves a 6/10.

- Decent story
- Not a single clue given at the lever quest in the flooded area
- Rushed and boring ending
- Lack of details and effects
Seems like you were inspired by my stories a little bit. I saw both a scare from Cursed Souls (Maybe a wierd coincidence, but it seems like you copied it from there and did almost no changes to it) and a name on one of the chemicals from Dark case.
I agree, the story is mediocre. It's not bad, but it's not unique either. The level design is pretty basic and the story itself doesn't have any unexpected turns (it's obvious what's going to happen next).
You did pretty well with the scares though, I'll give you that one. And even if the story wasn't very surprising, it was still not like the other plain stories "u are trapped in a castle bla bla bla".
In short, it's an okay story with a lot of creativity put in to it. It's on a thin line to be nothing but average, but I also think it deserves a little bit more than that.

- Something refreshing
- Good story line in whole
- Great effects, voice acting and cut scenes
- Zero challange
- Bad level design (except for the forest part, see conclusion)
- Almost no monster encounters
- Shorter than expected
Let me start with by telling you I really appreciate that you take your time to create something unique and refreshing instead of the overused "you wake up in an unkown castle, get out" and it's obvious that you spent time on this, at least on the effects, voice acting and custom monsters.
However though, it looks like you spent very little time on the level design. The police station is stuck between mountains (the road leads right into mountains at both directions), the factory is pretty bland and lack details and the challange level is at bottom. The forest part when you enter the portal is incredibly beutiful so I was really surprised by how bland the other maps are.
You even faild to make it scary. I was scared once, but when I realized the first monster only spawned once and the other "monster", or what ever it is could not harm me, I wasn't scared at all.
Edit: Ending credits now added, although the rest still remains. A lot of the things can't be fixed either unless you remake the whole story.
In short, it was not what I expected it to be. It looks like you worked more on the cut scenes than the story itself. I did not enjoy this.

- A few good scares
- You were honest when you said you spent a lot of time making it glitch-free
- You have a decent story line
- Your "find this symbol and supplies are nearby" idea
- A lot of unlogcial moments
- 8 of 10 monsters spawned where I could see them
- Not much of a challange
- A huge lack of details and a lot of rooms/hallways are too empty
I think it was a decently nice experience playing this custom story. It's not good, but it's not bad either. The story behind it is pretty good. At leas it's not a cliche "you are trapped, get out" story.
Although, it's pretty empty and doesn't make any sense. 8 of 10 monsters spawned infront of my face which is something I really dislike (unless it's supposed to be a scare).
I managed to escape from a castle filled with monster and the character decides to go back inside? And who leaves a note at the castle door telling us exactly where the key is (fully visible right next to the door)? You might as well leave it unlock to make the job quicker for the burglars.

*Opens a redbull and takes a deep breath*
Where do I begin?
The valve that is "stuck" could still be turned. The gate could only open up after I used the hammer on the valve that wasn't stuck to begin with. Logic for the win!
I had to get up to the library, but I coulnd't just break it down with my hammer like I could with the door right next to it NOOO of course not! Instead, I had to go down to a sewer and be chased by a water monster so I could drain the deeper part of the sewer.
I died instantly by the toxic gas because nothing told me it was dangerous (except for the note I picked up when I realized the gas will kill me again if I keep moving) and since I walked through deep blue fog earlier with the annoying brute that refused to leave me alone, I didn't thought that this other fog was that dangerous.
I died in there again later on after taking the medicine thing and, since you didn't add a checkpoint, I spawned at the start of the map with the gas trigger still on. I almost died by the gas again even though I wasn't close to it.
One of the three cogwheels in the machine room fell down. The machine still worked.
Several "holes" in the walls here and there (walls not correctly placed togheter).
And why did Michael not just help us out earlier? Why wait for five years?
To be honest with you, there's so many bugs I can't even type them all down due to the review limit. What kind of stupid *** beta testers did you actually hire? Are they blind, or ignored the errors?
You did work a lot on the story line and the chest and thalers thing is a very nice touch.
I'm giving you a 5/10 for your hard work. +1 point because this is the only story that made me laugh so hard so I almost cried (no offence, but this is so full of errors and your voice acting hilarious so I couln't resist to laugh about it)
Next time, fix the bugs before you upload your story and hire testers that knows what the heck they are doing...

- Some nice ideas
- Pretty good design (not as good as promised though)
- A few scary moments
- Cliche story line
- No jumpscares? So what was the flying naked guy doing in the closet?
- Low challange
- The "not jumpscare" in the closet made the whole room glitch to hell
It's an okay story, but not as good as the author promised.
Some of the ideas are very nice and some parts scared me, but in whole, the story can be improved.

- Huge creativity
- New monsters
- Some custom items
- Cliche and predictable story line
- The ending felt rushed
- A lot of flaws and bugs
It's a decent story despite the fact that it has so many flaws in it.
For example, people have said that it's only possible to enter the well once. That means, if you miss the item you need, then you're stuck. I also notice that I couln't climb down, only up so when I fell down the well and looked up, I could see beneath the map.
The ladder in the prison map had to be lowered even though I could easily reach it. I though it was bugged and made my way up there with the crates untill I found the button that lowered it behind the shelf.
I like the A,B,C,D bottle quest, although I throwed them at the lab door so I didn't have to go with them one by one from one room to the next. The angel statue decided to move right on one of the bottles. I was forced to restart from previously saved game.
The statue monster could not reach me thanks to the statue. Should also be fixed.
A good and scary story. Not recommended to people with low experience, or people that easily get heartattacks but otherwise perfectly fine. It just needs an update and hopefully be longer next time. Some more story would be great to.

Game Review on Sep 10th, 2013 - 8 people agree 7 people don't
I have a lot of experience with Amnesia The Dark Decent and was elated to play A Machine for Pigs. To be honest, I'm not really sure why the game is called "Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs" as I saw almost nothing Amnesia related. They used some models and a few textures from the main game but that was it basicly. I did not have an inventory, I did not have to worry about my sanity, health nor oil, I could not use tinderboxes and could barley interact with anything at all.
I tried to immerse myself, but failed pretty badly. It offers low to no challange at all. The puzzles were easy and did not require much intelligence to complete. 80% of the quests did include items I had to find or valves I had to turn, as I didn't have an inventory and the original Amnesia quests was a lost call.
The enemies were way to easy to avoid, as half of them spawned in corridors and could easily be spotted by simply sneak behind a wall or a pillar. Not to mention the lantern that warned me when a monster was nearby by constant flickering.
The pig enemie was glitchy and I was able to go right through the enemie model. While I did, he was unable to hit me.
The water monster was also way too easy to avoid as I rarley had to cross the water. Only time I was in close combat with him was when the game developers forced me down the water against my will.
The levels felt very repetitive and offered a low varation. The storyline was actually decently good, and I'm glad for that. I'm not sure if I could find motivation to continue this game otherwise.
They did a great work with the plot and the voice acting was super. It just faild to deliver a good Amnesia experience, if you can call this Amnesia. I was not pleased with this. I did except much more from an extension to a really awesome game they created for over two years ago.

- Scared the crap out of me
- An okay story in whole
- Some good quests and effects
- Story could be better, but it was okay
- Lack details
The story was okay, it's not the best I've played but I've played a lot worse as well.
I could for some reason enter a door in the first map and spawn in the last map (dining hall). No idea if this is a bug or a mistake from your side but it should be fixed.
The story line is nothing special. "Someone did experiments, now you must ecape before the monsters kill you". A cliche.
The level design is also average. Lacking details, some texture glitches here and there... in overall, pretty bland and boring.
I did like the quests and some of the effects though. Combine certain chemicals to create acid and the thunder effect in the "secret mansion" was pretty cool.
I'm not very afraid when it comes to monster encounters so I crawled away before the first grunt dissapeared and saw him when he suddenly stepped into the "despawn" trigger. The second grunt encounter scared the **** out of me though! I really didn't see that one coming. If you manage to scare me, which you did, good job! Very few people knows how to scare the crap out of me nowdays and you did that.
