- Level design is relatively glitch free (texture glitches)
- You added music

- Story is almost non existing
- Minimum scripting in each map
- Music is incredibly repetitive
- Some glitches (gameplay glitches)
- No creativity at all, maps are bland and simple
- 95% key quests

What to improve:

The only story line in the whole mod are notes from an unkown person, and even those are pointless and doesn't explain what's going on. Maybe the story would make a bit more sense if I played the first part first, but the first part is nowhere to be found.

You should, if you want to make a new mod, make a story. A story that isn't a cliché "you are kidnapped and must get out". It looks like you couldn't figure anything out and made up a few notes with 1-4 lines at most to make it look like you at least did put some effort to it. Having no story or almost no story at all doesn't make the player very motivated to keep playing your mod.

Good thing you add music, but you picked music that is usually used when you complete puzzles, during events or when you enter a new area. Songs that are less than twenty seconds long makes it very repetitve and annoying to listen to.

Level design is so bland and empty and 95% of the quests in the story are key quests. On top of that, you use a minimum amount of script. I looked it up and each script folder is 3kb or less. Some of my map scripts can be way over 30kb.

I don't demand it to be that large, but I would like to see at least some more scripting than 3kb per map or less. Add some effects, more scares and monster encounters, more quests, etc.

Also, try to mess around with the levels, add decals, decorations (carpets, pillars, plants, statues, anything to fill up the empty parts) and don't make the rooms bigger than they need to be.

I have two glitches in mind. First one is in the second map. It looks like the brute doesn't have any path nodes to follow because it walked around wierdly or was standing at walls (because it doesn't figure out it can go out from the room through the door). Perhaps you were lazy, but it may be a glitch as well since other monsters have paths to follow.

Second glitch was at the bookshelf in the cellar I was supposed to move by interacting with it. You may need to move it a tiny bit higher up becaue it got stuck a few times on the floor. It took a couple of attempts even after I removed all books and other items from it.

I don't think this is much better than the previous story I played "Wanted", but at least that story actually had a story, even if it made no sense.

I can't recommend this story in it's current state. It's way to bland and doesn't offer anything new on the table.

Game Review on Jun 25th, 2014

This game made me bored faster than a math lesson can do.

- Decent scripting I guess

- Pretty much everything
- Boring gameplay
- No storyline

You spawn in a world with absoutely no clue how you got there. You don't have a name, you don't have a goal, you don't have anything to find. The story is non existing.

Some games can be good even without a clear goal or a background story, but not in this case.

Not only do you have no goal, enemies or purpose in Kairo whatsoever, the puzzles are also simple but yet confusing. You can not interact with anything and you don't have an inventory, meaning that all you can do is move objects by walking towards them, or jump on random platforms in hope that something will happen. Really, really simple puzzles. And when I say it's also confusing, what I mean is, you don't really know why you are doing what you are doing due to the non existing story and the few hints you get doesn't really help that much at all.

Do I recommend this game? No. I don't recommend it to anyone.

People that love adventures, no. The game is as simple as it can be (including the soundtracks and gameplay in general) with nothing to explore or discover at all. You don't even have a purpose or anything to lose. Not even health (no, you can't even die in this game).

People that like puzzle games, no. Again, the puzzles are basic, yet confusing, and you don't really know why you are doing them.

People that love a good storyline, no. There is no story in this game at all.

Why people like this is beyond me. I have played many bad games, but this without doubt in my top 5 most boring games ever.

- The idea
- Level design is okay

- No scripting at all
- Boring gameplay
- No challange
- It's simply not good (read conclusion)

I like the idea of "survival", but come on man...

No scripting at all (monsters are standing still, making it very easy to simply crawl to the next room without any challange).

There is no way to escape and nothing happens unless you make the monsters chase you, and even then it's easy to avoid them.

"Can you survive?" Yeah, it's not that hard. All I have to do is being silent in the start room or crawl around the map...

Good idea, but it's not working. Plain and simple.

- You know how to use custom stuff

- Short, super lame story
- Based on a youtuber
- Boring and rushed level design
- No challange
- Author does apparently not know how to bug test his own story

It's based on a youtuber. Do you need more information than that?

I took me around 15 minutes to reach the end. 20 minutes if you count that time I got stuck in the first Minecraft map and had no other option but to restart the story. Instead of walking down to the lava, I decided to randomly jump around which was enough to bug the story out completely.

The first key description is so long it's not even visible.

You must use the knife at the right angle on the prisoner. And funny part is, he didn't even die when I stabbed him.

I died by the suitor at the end. Death hint: "Mark died by lava".

This guy's humour is terrible, but the reasons why I only rate it 2/10 is because there is absoutely no point with it. Just some random, rushed maps with no challange or creativity in them at all. You know how to use custom items, but that is the only positive thing I can say about this story.

Next time, don't make a story for a youtuber because they are never appreciated. Second of all, don't rush with them (every map is around 2-3 mintues long each), add more details and most importantly, make a good story line.

Game Review on Dec 23rd, 2013 - 2 people agree 3 people don't

I will probably get a **** load of hate for this, since most people appears to love this game, but this is the worst game I've played for years.

And before you say something like "you probably installed it wrong" or "you only like modern games". I installed it on steam, and I have played several games using an older engine, like Half life and F.E.A.R.

I tried to start the game 3 times before it finally worked. First time it asked if I really allow the game to change my computer (that right there is a huge warning sign that the game might do something bad to my PC), and the second time because it crashed when I tried to open steam. And no, my computer is not old or bad in any ways.

I'm glad I could skip the intro (I saw the intro the first time I played this game, and to be honest it's way too long). Shortly after that, an extremly lame jumpscare appears. After playing Amnesia The Dark Decent, that scare simply sucked. Was not scared at all.

I was forced to start a new game over and over again because I could not click down notes when I clicked on them in my inventory.
I could not save the game either for some reason, so after dying by a zombie the third time I restarted the game, I decided to just uninstall this crap.

The only positive thing I can say about it, is that I like the idea of combining items. Like if you need a light and a weapon at the same time you can combine the phone and the knife.

Maybe people rate it good because it went better for them, I don't know, but in my opinion the game is overrated. If you guys forced me to pay for this, I would honestly demand to get my money back.

Mod Review on Dec 20th, 2013 - 2 people agree

- A story line
- Some creative ideas
- No lame scares

- Story is bland and very short
- Level design is glitchy in every possible way
- No details, almost no music, no particle effects, etc
- Not scary at all
- No challange

What to improve:

Level design:

Make sure walls are not going through other walls, entities isn't floating in the air or collide witch each other, add more details and more effects.

The first bedrooms were actually not that bad. No details at all, but not bad either. After that the level design just went downhill.

The rooms are either pitch black or 100% bright (you need to learn how to use lamps and pointlights, or at least edit the boxlight so it isn't 100% white).

You have a working crowbar quest and two working shelf quests, although the levers are fully visible (almost like the castle creator didn't even try to hide the path in the first place) and the rest are key quests. Good, but since the items are so extremly easy to find, I did not see them as a challange whatsoever.

Be more creative, more variation of quests and try to hide the items a little better so we actually need to search for them.

Add more scares (they don't have to be "lame" scares), make it longer and most of all, try to make the story more intresting. The storyline is actually not that bad, but the three notes explaination why you are in the mansion is only in one map and so short it could easily be one medium long note instead.

The difference between troll stories and this story is that it looks like you actually tried. But you have a long way to go before you should upload a story again. Play other stories, check inside the offical maps or watch some youtube tutorials and practise and I am sure you can make something awesome, you have potential, but for now, it's very bad and not recommended.

- Scared me a few times
- You created a story line

- The most empty and bland story I've ever seen
- Low creativity
- Very simple quests
- Bugs

- Every map looks more or less the same
- How was I supposed to survive the brute part?
- The explosive mixture created itself? :/
- Poor ending

You created a story line. It's poor, but it's something. Sadly, 95% of the story is nothing but empty, long corridors. To be honest, I could barley finish this story because I was so extremly bored.

- Poor level design

Work more on your levels! Don't make all the rooms so dam huge! I can split this up to 2-3 castles :/.
Add more items, more details, more supplies, more of everything. I saw a huge room with NOTHING in it except for a hole in the wall I was supposed to crawl into. Really?

- Boring and easy quests

Most of the quests are key quests, and the explosive mixture created itself. That was the lamest thing I've seen for a long time. I was 4 meters from the table and the ingredients mixed themselfs.

In short, there is no challange in this story at all except for the chasing parts. While talking about chase parts, how was I supposed to survive the brute? He came from one direction (see what I did there?) and it was the only way out of there. He killed me in one hit and I had no chance to escape.

I did not like this story at all. I don't know how it could take you over a month to create this. I'm guessing you were learning while you were creating it? Otherwise wierd since all the maps are empty and looks almost the same. Almost like you copied the maps.

I can't give this higher than 2/10. You made me scared a few times, but I was so bored I basicly forced myself to keep playing it. Spend more time on your work next time.

Mod Review on Jun 28th, 2013 - 3 people agree 1 person doesn't

I have to go with the majority and rate this a 2/10. It's really, really bad, but still, you got some potential to become better.

- Some nice ideas I guess
- You tried to create a story (it's bad, but it's something)
- Simple scripts (way too basic, but it's a start)
- Death hints

- Lame and predictable jumpscares (some jumpscares are good, but this story don't have any)
- No details, bad lightning, no music
- Overuse of monsters, scares and supplies
- The story is extremly unlogical! I rich man bought a house but his father paid for it? And he didn't bother to explore the mansion before he went to sleep? And when he woke up, he forgot where the exit is? What the hell? And why do you have a labyrinth in your house? -.-'

Did I enjoy this? Not at all. Only thing I actually though was decently good was the last part with the orb and the friendly monster even if that part only last for a minute at most and the "light" was only a pointlight without an exit... but suddenly I'm outside and free.

What to think about:

NO FLYING NAKED GUYS!! Build up an athmosphere! Make it scary and add jumpscares only a few times where they fit and are unexpected. Flying naked guys ruins the athompshere and the fun with the story

Work more on the level design. This is as simple as it can be. You said yourself it's basic, so why did you upload it then? Keep simpel stories like this for learning experiences only. I didn't upload my first story for a reason. It wasn't good enough for the public and this one is not good enough either.

It's very obvious what's going to happen next. Water? A water monster will show up

A key? A monster will show up

A corridor? A flying naked guys will show up... I was right everytime.

Mod Review on Jun 13th, 2013 - 1 person agrees 1 person doesn't

- For a first story, the level design is actually decently good
- A few decent scenes, like the "flashbacks" or what ever they were
- Creative at a few parts

- Missing ceiling at a few maps
- House floating in the air
- Nothing but jumpscares
- No story
- I managed to fall out of the map because I jumped on a barrel...

- Very short
- Bad grammar
- No texts, no notes, no key descriptions...
- Flashlight made no sense since the story is based on Amnesia otherwise
- Voice acting at the end made no sense and was only at the end, nowhere else

- No credits given to the creator of the batterys and flashlight
- Trollface, Thank you 4 playing, u mad, etc in the end credits. Seriously? How old are you?

STOP USING FLYING NAKED GUYS! No one think it's scary more than once!
It may sounds harsch, but you are not ready to upload stories yet. Work on your english file and level design skills, create a story (not only "you don't remember anything, you must escape"), don't add only jumpscares and make sure your story is free from all the easy spotted flaws and bugs before you upload it.

BUT you are creative and some parts actually surprised me, since I didn't have high hopes for this story. Take your creativity a step further, create a story line and stop using lame scares and I'm sure you can create a decent story in the future ;)

Mod Review on May 6th, 2013 - 3 people agree

I can't really recommend this to anyone...

I will describe my gameplay in short:

- A random guy appears
- I can't understand what he is saying
- I found a key
- The first jumpscare appeared
- Random jumpscare again
- Found another key
- Found money I won't need for anything
- First monster encounter

- Flying naked guy
- Another key
- Jumpscare
- Found an axe, destroyed a few doors and it suddenly disapeared
- Found a magic crowbar that could destroy a door by blowing it up
- Found a key

- Jump scare
- Found a needle
- Jump scare
- Jump scare
- Jump scare
- Found a magic saw that could unlock the next door like a regular key
- Second monster encounter

- Jump scare
- Jump scare
- The random guy appears again and said something I don't understand
- The end

If you love stories with a language you don't understand, love key quests, love jumpscares and love unrelistic stories that doesn't make any sense in a wierd, unintresting world, this is the right one for you :D

To the author - you need to work more on this... alot more. The only 2 positive things I can say about it are the custom materials and a few intresting areas. But that's it. Jumpscares are not even scary more than once...

My suggestions to you is to create a stronger story line IN ENGLISH and spend more time on the maps.
And please, stop making those lame jumpscares and lame events, it's not impressive in any ways :s
