Magrathean Technologies, a small development team from Vancouver, B.C. Canada, presents its first game title "Incognito". Built on the "NeoAxis Engine", a very powerful next-generation game engine created by NeoAxis Group Ltd. Two guys named Kyle and Ron, and their financial guru Mike started Magrathean Technologies in 2006 and primarily worked online for clients abroad, it was and has been a group of 3 people. There are two programmers, and our financial officer.

Incognito Episode 0 is a free episode that we created so people could try out the game for free. The main thing is that this is not some cut up experience but a separate prequel story to the events of Episode 1.

Future plans of NeoAxis Group for the engine is to implement support for mobile platforms, such as Android and iOS in first place. NeoAxis Engine already is running well on Android using internal development builds of the engine, so support for this platform can be expected in next update - NeoAxis 1.3. Stay tuned for news and interesting announcements!

Just to point out Magrathean is responsible for the Linux wrapper and not MisfitVillager. Magrathean did all of the programming and publishing related jobs and MisfitVillager was responsible for art, models, music and the game itself. The wrapper we use is the same one that we use on other games that we publish.

The engine that powers SickBrick (NeoAxis) currently does not support native Linux libraries but we wanted to provide a version for that platform so people could play it and in tandem test the waters of the Linux community. It is a huge undertaking to port an entire game engine to another operating system no matter how you spin it.

The response from the Linux community to say the least has been overwhelming. We are working on a native Linux port of the engine but these things take time. Our problem here I think was not being able to get indieDB/Desura staff to authorize all of the downloads for all platforms since at the time of writing only the Linux release is available.

Then buy it on Windows or Mac? We are testing the waters with Linux communities. Comments like your don't exactly motivate us to write native Linux code. It's a two-way street with indie games.

This is great move by you guys to allow develoeprs to pick which libraries are required. One of the major hurdles in supporting a linux release is making sure that proper audio libraries are installed and setup! Removed a huge problem from developer side by doing this and we thank you! :)

As mentioned above we used to have a demo using the shareware model. You used to be able to play half of the game for free and could enter a serial number and then keep playing on that same copy.

Now that the game is out on torrent sites this model is useless. We are working to create a full-fledged demo in the more traditional manner where extra content is physically removed.

TL;DR - Something special is in the works we hope to have it ready soon and will be releasing it on indieDB first!

Regarding Linux and the usage of Wine here is what the README that comes with the game has to say:

In order to run the game we make use of Wine to kickstart our Mono Runtime wrapper which is used on Windows and Mac OSX. Once this is up and running you will find it should not be buggy or leak memory of any kind. Emphasis on the notion that this is not a hack but indeed a genuine attempt to bring Incognito to Linux in a formidable way.

Yes. Before we go porting the engine to the various popular Linux distro's we want to test the market with this release. If this begins going someplace and Linux is the place to be we will put fourth the time needed to create a native port of ALL the underlying technology that powers Incognito Episodes.

We used to let people play half of the game for free when we had a serial number system in place. Could enter your key and continue playing. Since we got cracked by SKIDROW and RELOADED had to remove all the DRM from the entire game and since we can no longer determine if you are a paid customer or not there is no longer a demo. Sorry.

Looks like you just took pictures from the default NeoAxis SDK I don't see any custom functionality or models added. The guns, house, tank, explosions are all from the default NeoAxis SDK which is given away for free.

I would suggest maybe updating your video driver or trying to set OpenGL using the Configurator. That error means that the engine could not create the rendering window.

I don't understand why you and ZaliasoO are being so hostile. It's just a game, it has been around since 2009 and we have many decent reviews and sold many copies. We used DRM in the beginning to help fight piracy so we could recoup costs put into making it.

Now that we are popular enough that groups like RELOADED and SKIDROW are cracking the game we decided to remove the DRM and lower the price to make it easier to get ahold of because we like gamers that is why we made a game.

This game is intended to look this way, much in the same way Minecraft is intended to look 8bit this game Incognito is trying to look like older 3D games from the late 90's. It's funny how both of you say that you do not intend to be rude but that is all your comments offer. Why even leave them in the first place?

Currently we have three episodes done out of a planned five. In reply I would ask both of you to try and do better or at the very least give it a try and see if you actually like it, but it seems you have already made up your minds.

So what else can I say? Haters gonna hate.

With Incognito Episodes we let people play half of each episode as shareware and give away the full version. Serial number unlocks to full version. Using this method we have actually had decent conversion rates - sure there is piracy we can see it on the server logs plain as day.

Full version as a demo basically, if you don't like what you see then just uninstall it and move on. If you like it can pick up where you left off without having to start a new game and can activate each key 10 times on Windows or Mac it doesn't matter.

My point if anything is that DRM is used to prevent casual copying and nothing more. We even have plans to remove it when we are finished with the game and release the "final patch" so to speak. Pirates have money to - give them a chance to spend it. The people who are never going to pay never will anyway so don't lose sleep over it.
