What about some shelves, or some misc like fire extinguishers, or even some decals? I'd say crates and boxes but I feel like adding boxes is a cheap and unoriginal way to make a place look less empty. (I know that its a WIP, just my 2 cents)
Ok so, I'm playing recon, and I've checked every single place in Zaton for the calibration tools. I read that they were in Zaton, so I just want to know if they are in some wanky place like the Iron Forest underground, or am I just blind?
Can somebody PM me with the location of the calibration tool in Zaton? Just the location name (i.e: Dredge Station).
Can somebody please tell me the name of the first song of the file "05_Radiomix"? It's a song from the radio at Skadovsk, and I'd really like to know the name.
Well, actually you can do it. The bear detector is dirt cheap, and a thousand times better than the echo detector. Do not do it if you don't have basic equipment (like a gas mask) and I'd recommend it only if playing as recon. With a gas mask, some vodka and time you can grab easy artifacts from places like the Claw anomaly or Dredge Station (you don't even need a suit for gravity anomalies and radiation, if careful). Avoid chemical and burn anomalies AT ALL COST, they are for very well equiped stalkers only! With only one artifact from Claw or Dredge you already payed for the detector and the vodka. I found 3 in a row in the Claw, and made like 16k from a single artifact hunt, but it is true that after cleaning the bloodsucker lair you get a much better detector (Veles detector).
I just find wonderful little things like the lack of a minimap. It makes the whole thing so amazing. I was near the swamp, looking for stuff in my map, so I was standing still without watching my surroundings, when suddenly I saw something in the background, which happend to be a bloodsucker. I barely had any equipment, and the whole thing was so ******* scary that I even screamed in real life lol. In the small time lapse I had to react, I inmediatly ran back toward the swamp, like a complete coward, dying to anomalies and radiation, then I sat for a while in the chair, thinking "this is trully the Zone, it's so perfect, the Zone does not forgives you, not even once!"
Guys what the hell, seriously, the super aim can be disabled from the main menu, and in real life, a helmet can save you from bullets, especially 9mm and such, from a far distance of course. I don't even know what you are doing but I headshoted Tuna (the ambush at dredge station, who was wearing a exosuit) with a skorpion (9mm weapon). I don't trully understand what you are complaining about, am I playing a different game or what?
I did get insta-killed several times but I'm wearing the basic recon armor, and getting shot by an AK with that kind of protection isn't fun, but you can handle several bullets in other parts of the body, the same goes the other way around!
Just disable the hardcore AI if you can't handle it, as simple as that!
Even though the mod is amazing, I think we all understand now the Black Mesa team, don't we? They waited some much time and didn't rush it, they even had a release date. Remember the flame war when they didn't release it.
This is what happen when you rush things. I know that this game engine is crap and that may be one of the reasons of the crashes and stuff, but the lack of subtitles and things like missing descriptions or the sniper's scope are... like, didn't you notice? I'm not complaining at all, of course, but it's really odd coming from you guys... The worst thing was the flashlight thing, I know the fix was fast but what the hell, why did you even release it that way lol.
There is a little thing I dont quite understand about economy. A bottle of cheap russian vodka (and I'm talking about the "Zone-produced, funny smelling can") worth the same than a AKs74u silencer...? What...?

This is not SHoC or Vanilla CoP, that's what you fail to see. You want to do it the hard way, killing snorks with a knife, going against the Monolith with a makarov, you can always try and try over again but it's not the dev fault when you fail. You can't say "this is to hard pls nerf" if you are not even trying the right way.
Dude, you are taking the wrong aproach. You are not suppouse to take down mercenaries with a Mosin. It's like the recon killing something with the scorpion. I'm playing recon, and i really struggle when trying to kill 4 bandits (like, I died 4 times) but it is not misery's fault that I'm trying to go rambo with a damn Scorpion... After that, with a heck a lot of patience, I found a stash (I'm kinda stash-looter) and sold a perfect AK74 to get myself a AKS74u and things are really better now.
Like, really, they warned about the economy and difficulty, and you are trying to go for anomalies and artifact (with a sniper...), and I'm pretty sure you dont even have a mask or proper suit, or taking out a whole mercenary base with a Mosin? It's like whining because you can't cut a steak with a spoon.
Edit: And when they said "run", they meant it. I'm the "close combat" class, and as soon as I hear anything near me, I just ran as fast as I can. I move really slowly and the first thing I did was upgrade the binoculars for better scouting. Think it as your own life in danger, thats the whole point of this mod!

Will npcs loot everything? Like for example, if I kill a bandit, a passing stalker might loot the corpse? This was so, so annoying in AMK, I had to loot while shooting because my allies grab every single item like a damn vacuum. It was pretty common to kill a loner with 20 assault rifles, 50 pistols, and a lot of useless items.

With all this, the recon class is useful now! I wanted to play it so hard, but stealth in vanila STALKER is terrible.

Hello devs again, I was browsing the STALKER wikia and this page, when I suddenly had a new idea. It's pretty easy to make (I think) and I think it's quite interesting.
According to the wikia, there is a huge anthenna in Limansk, which is a real life OTH Radar system (Duga-3). Many believe that the Brain Scorcher is some kind of OTH radar too. Limansk radar was well known as the "Russian woodpecker", because shortwave radios everywhere in the world could listen a noise similar to a woodpecker. This radar is located inside the Chernobyl area, and it stopped working in 1989 (3 years after the incident) so it kept working 3 more years even though the whole area was radioactive. NATO and several western organizations believe this was some kind of experiment from the soviets to create a machine capable of mind-controling or weather controling (like the USA's HAARP). This is extremly useful in STALKER saga because of the zombified stalkers being only mind-controled people near the Brain Scorcher anthena (you follow me, right?)
To summ up, my idea was to add something like a woodpecker sound near some radios, maybe inside Skadovsk or near any shortwave radio. It'd make it interesting, since this places were highly suspicious and they are under Monolith control now. This one is public (taken from wikipedia, and it's actually real footage!) and it's quite atmospheric, I believe. It'd randonmly occur and only for a few seconds since is interefence. Well to be fair, NPC can shot you from a mile in the foggiest day, so realism has a limit, and, as I said, AMK NPC scripting sucks, they are way too overcoded, maybe Misery can make it more realistic.
What...? I've hidden it in a place unreachable for NPCs, of course. STALKER stashes are somewhat retarded and prety obvious. It isn't hard to find them at all.
I think that it's more realisitc to have NPC loot your stuff. Think about this: in this mod you can make your own stashes, like laying down a bag and putting your stuff inside. So I can put the bag in the middle of the road and NPC will do nothing. That's is so unreal, why wouldn't they loot a bag in the middle of the road? I put my bag in a unreachable place because AMK forces you to do so. Misery team can make NPC to don't loot every single thing in the world, like AMK did (I repeat, NPC CAN NOT climp ladders, yet stashes in places only reachable by ladders are still looted...)
What do you earn if you let then live yet you don't force them to know their stash location? Is it any kind of reward ?
I really dont think that every single stalker in Yanov or Skadovsk have a personal stash. In fact, there is only a single box in the whole place that has the shape of a stash box (the blue ones). You came out of nowhere and you suddenly can store anything you want in your personal box, without anyone saying nothing?
I understand the point that this are places where there is a code, but in misery (I believe) the whole point is that hunger and "misery" make you do silly things. For example, killing loners for the loot, or trying to avoid any trouble because of the few ammo you have, stuff like that. So I do believe that, even though not every stalker is a thief, some just can't stand see you stashin tons of weapons and ammo and do nothing.
And about the "code", this is very, very fragile, as Sultan attacks Skadovsk and take it under control if you help him out. Same goes for Yanov. I trully believe that making this common boxes available is not real, you should make your own near this places.
It isnt even that hard really, just put a bag on the top of Skadovsk and you're ready to go. As I said, I put mine near the Bar entrance, in a totally out of danger zone, take a look...

Hey N.Aaroe or Loner, I'd like to ask you something. First of all, I want to say this looks amazing. I have played SoC and Clear Sky, and I'm waiting for 2.0 in order to play CoP. I have a question about personal stashes. I know that in 2.0, you can make your own stashes, or you can use the boxes in the main bases, like Yanov Station or the Laundromat (I'm watching OcedMyToaster playthrough because I cant wait lol). This was not the point in SoC MERGE Mod, where NPC loot everything. The boxes in areas like the Bar were useless since they got looted, and you are forced to hide very well your personal stashes, because NPC could find them if they were in accesible places (if you were away from the area, they would even "climb" ladders), so you had to do some fancy parkour to hide your stash in crazy places. Would this be the case in 2.0? I think it would awesome. Main bases stashes are so unreal (a personal box for a random stalker in a place full of desesperate people?), and I belive that forcing the player to hide their stashes is also a nice touch. You dont have to hide it in a desolate place, or a dangerous one, just use your brain and hide them in tall, hard to reach places. (For example, I hid mine in a really tall gas container in the Bar area.)
there should be an enemy helipcoter as well if you are close enough of the outpost. run in diagonal, using trees as cover, and stay as close as the APC as posible. As soon as you hear the helicopter, run toward the APC (trying to avoid the APC gunfire, which is not that hard) and crouch as close to it as posible. The helicopter will start the attack, and should launch a massive barrage, destroying the APC. If you are in the right angle and well cover, the APC should explode and you will barely survive, use medkits and run towards the outpost, grab the box and run away as fast as you can, since the helo will follow you.
It's highly advisable to snipe the guards, any decent assault rifle with a scope should do the trick. There is no time to loot the corpses, since the helicopter attack is way too powerful. There is another APC in a corner, but you can avoid it, dodging the gunfire from it.
If there is no helicopter, or this is way to hard, you can always continue, find a RPG and blow up the apc. This worked for me playing STALKER MERGE, I almost lose it trying to destroy that damn APC...
well, in fact, it isn't even that hard. Ammo is scarce and food is ultra rare but you can survive without problem. I mean, OcedMyToaster has proven that already, right? Go check his playtrough, veteran.
I'm loving this mod so damn hard right now.
