No idea. The mod is optimised for performance, as I'm developing it on a laptop, with a crappy onboard graphics card. On my 5 year old desktop I get a solid 60fps with all settings on high. Turn of AA, and set all graphics settings to low, and see if that improves your framerate. If it does, then you just need to systematically turn each graphic setting up until you find out which one is causing the lag. In particular, you might want to set particle effects and projectiles to medium or low, and turn character shadows off.
I haven't had time as of late to show off any new work; but the mod is still in development and the levels are shaping up well.
Juggle combos are classed (somewhat incorrectly) as the bonus hits after you KO/kill a regular enemy. After you knock a baddie out, you will see a counter appear over their head when you hit them. If you get it to 10, you get a small health bonus. To S rank juggles try to score a 10 hit combo on them after they've been knocked out.
Yeah, sorry about that. I deleted my facebook account for personal reasons. I'll have to find another medium for sneak peeks (http://wtfitrw.tumblr.com/). :)
Thanks for your kind comments. I'll investigate that bug you mentioned - a minor oversight on my part.
This is what it's supposed to look like when it's running Youtube.com
Yep, Windows 7/Vista breaks the audio for Max Payne. You can fix this with an audio patch here: Forums.3drealms.com
I'm also working on an updated version which fixes the sound, and comes with a few slight gameplay improvements.
Gracias por la espera, espero que te haya gustado. Nuevas actualizaciones en el camino. (Sorry, I had to use google translate as I don't speak spanish, I hope it makes sense. Thanks.)
On the rooftop level, you can kill the agent by kicking them off the roof. :) Shooting will slow them down, but not kill them.
You can perform a wall kick by running diagonally towards a wall (e.g. press W and A together), and then press jump. If you're close enough, you'll perform a wall kick. You can wall jump simply by running forwards at a wall, and hitting jump.
The next release will come with a proper character select. In the demo, you can switch between Neo and Trinity from game menu.
Yes, the green vibe was intentional, I'm glad you noticed. :)
Hmm? I'm developing this on a Windows 7 64-bit machine. It works fine. You need to enable windows compatibility mode (Windows XP SP3) by right-clicking and going into properties on the Max Payne shortcut, and run darkje's sound patch (included with the mod). Failing that, you might be able to download Virtual pc for Windows 7 Microsoft.com
Hi there, congrats on finding the secret level! Right now I'm focusing on levels from the first film, so the next release (hopefully before christmas) will include: Wetwall fight, Gov. Lobby, Roof, Subway, and Streets. Plus tweaks to the existing ones (Dojo and trinity), and bug fixes, etc.
Yeah it's an easter egg / secret level. You're the first person to find it, that I know of. Congrats :D
On realising the truth, her mind expanded.
Awesome -- it's tricky to use effectively, but Ken pulled out nothing short of a miracle to get that mechanic working. Glad you like it. He claims you can run around corners if you time the turn just right. :)
Smallish gameplay updates: Performing a kung fu pose now regenerates health. White Rabbit mode is now an ad-hoc God mode. I'm experimenting with Fine aim and Max Payne 3 inspired killcams for select guns. I've also added an experimental slide attack - run and then hit crouch to slide on the floor and trip baddies.
I'm adding a new mode to compensate for the fact that the regular god mode cheat doesn't work in this mod. There's also the hardcore mode to challenge those with mad skillz. :)
Thanks, I'm really glad you like it so far. More coming sooner rather than later. :)
Agreed - if we did it again, I'd definitely trim some of the cutscenes down. Especially the stairs one in the first level.
I really don't know - sorry. :( StratonAce had a huge library of music and sound clips which he'd include in his mods. I guess you could say part of the fun is working out where those clips are from. :)
Blowing my trumpet a bit, but I was proud of this mod.
Hi, a custom launcher will be released soon which will allow you to play the mod with any skin. In the meantime it's not possible to save your skin if you change it in-game. However, you can edit the txt / h files in the TRWprofile folders to change the default skin.
I'm not 100% sure right this minute, but it sounds like you might need to reinstall the mod (and possibly Max Payne). In the documents folder you should find a text file called windows7.txt - please follow the installation instructions in there, and let me know how you get on.
Thanks for including my mods in the list. :)
PS. Moddb.com if you want to try something a little different (exploding penguins; robotic santa; super-deformed elves; and a 10-foot, snowboarding polar bear called Dinky).
That's right. You get XP for speed, damage, and juggles. Don't worry about speed, the best way to unlock this level is to juggle every badguy with a 10+ hit combo after they get knocked out. You're looking for S rank in each category except time, on each round.
Soon-ish - that's just a joke/fake multiplayer level. The proper roof level is coming.
Please check my reply on the mod's front page. Your Max Payne folder should have the TRWdemo.mpm file and TRWprofile folder. I recommend starting from a clean install of Max Payne and following the instructions in the windows7.txt file.
Also, if you're using Windows7, you'll probably need to apply the sound patch that's included in the package. For detailed instructions, please read through the windows7.txt file in the docs folder.
Your Max Payne installation folder should contain both the TRWdemo mpm file and the TRWProfile folder. If you open TRWprofile, you should find the folder Kungfu_data, and inside that should be the abilities.h file. If any of these files and folders are missing, simply extract the zip file again, and copy the TRWprofile folder over to your Max Payne install (where the MaxPayne.exe is).
