Persistent World Mod

Mod review

One of the most rage inducing and rage quit simulator mods out there. i picked up this mod over a year ago and boy has it changed.

This is a mod about creating a story, about living in a medieval (slightly fantasy) world. You start off with a bag of gold and normally a trusty axe. You have no shoes and a very dirty brown shirt. When you first look in your coin pouch (depending on the server) you will see a small fortune almost 8000 gold (again depending on the server). When you look around you see horses covered in armour with steel clad men and women riding across the map. You think to yourself that's what I want to be.

Trust me. It ain't happening for a while.

The mod rewards the biggest bully on the server, and as annoying as this may sound . . . it's medieval life. Nowadays PW is ran by the Clans, and in my personal view by too many GoT clans. These clans will likely rule the castles, fight major wars and make riches and lose it all.

As a new player this mod can be daunting, with interchangeable classes and a whole website worth of items to craft, my advice is read a steam guide. I have no clue who would write one though (That is shameless plugging of my own guide there). Once you understand this mod, have been rdmed about 50 times and lasted your first full week this mod will grow on you. You will likely ragequit and get angry at it, but there is a charm that cannot be denied.

(By the way best Clan is Bebbanburg so if you want to join them ;))

Blood and Iron: Age of Imperialism

Mod review

One of the Best mods for Warband out there, if you are unsure yes it does Require the Napoleonic Wars Expansion. This is a fantastically researched and executed mod originally focused on the Franco - Prussian War of 1871 the mod is in ongoing evolution, and recently added in Great Britain as a new faction to play as, this is a great insight into the possibilities of Napoleonic wars. Also Shotguns!

Mount & Blade: Warband

Game review

Mount and Blade is Back, back with a bang too!

A new overhauled map, a New Faction and of course Multiplayer!

The new map is not something that could be seen as gamechanging in the world of gaming, however compared to the rather blocky and sharp map of the Orginal game this map is smooth and flowing, it has the high mountains still creating the chokepoints that can prevent the movement of armies, but the land rises and dips slowly and it feels more natural.

The new faction the cold Kingdom of Vaegirs is a nice new addition to the game as well, where before the nords and the Khergit Khanate spill into one another this time it is separated by a faction that some would say is almost Russian Based, large axed awesome archers and nimble horsemen ideal for the hit and run type of commander.

And of course Multiplayer, this is something that has transformed the game it has allowed massive battles for castles, villages and fields, what is nice is the money system, there is no tier ranking system that means new players are playing against other with uber weapons everyone starts on the same amount of gold and you must earn the money in kills for the better equipment.

But the thing that makes this one of the best games out there is the fact that the community is so active, i write this reivew almost 3 years since it has come out and there are still mods in development that allow the game that can get boring and repeative sometimes to change and feel like a whole new game.

If you need one game in your Collection make it this, not that expensive, the graphics and the sound and the feel may not be that of a big AAA game with millions in budget, but the idea and the amount of mods make this game enjoyable for all, and I mean all!
