C64 will never die
only the players
I'm sorry for posting two youtube links at once, not really sure how to edit on moddb
either way, this video shows much clearer the issue at hand (the menu switches from Interface Off to Interface On, without any input from me, just after the Bloodsucker attack)
I have HUD turned off by default, the problem is that it comes back on =)
hey man, good seeing you too
I never really left The Zone, but I have been less active on-line for quite some time now
I don't think it's a game-breaking bug of any sorts, but rather more of a nuisance - I've managed to reproduce it every time I tried it (five times), with the Bloodsucker by the tunnel in Garbage (as per the video above) - will try to find some more of them and see how it plays out =)
glad to see that the Stalker community still got humor =)
I'll post a video of the (supposed) bug here, as well - might help shed some light on the situation
you will notice at 00:07, how the HUD suddenly returns
keep in mind, I am playing unmodified version of Lost Alpha DC 1.4002, i.e. I am *not* running any of my previous HUD-mods, but rather I have simply chosen to disable "Interface On" in the Gameplay menu
I've noticed a bug:
I play with "Interface Off" and whenever I get attacked by a Bloodsucker and 'sucked', the HUD reappears afterwards and I need to go into the settings and readjust it
finally got surround sound working, thanks!
yup. ten years, going strong ^^
beautiful to see progress on this little gem - nice touch to go out and photograph actual trees, shows great promise in-game
finally someone doing an [actual OldSkool] game, rather than just having it 'look/feel' OldSkool. kudos for sticking to a tried and true formula, rather than getting on the bandwagon that every game needs randomized levels and save-ability.
gaming in the 80's/early 90's, it was an actual challenge in and by itself, merely to endure the game to the end, due to lack of save-game functionality; and even though I do love me some randomized dungeons, etc. - I think we've reached a point where it's become a skewed 'norm' in gaming that every 'new indie game'' [has] to be a 'rogue-like' (a term which has strayed so far away from its original meaning/game, that it's simply absurd). I will gladly throw moneys your way, if nothing else because I wholeheartedly support the idea that there is and always has been a market for the games of old; and there needs little refinement in terms of making it 'endlessly enjoyable' (such as with the aforementioned 'rogue-like' aspects; too much randomization leads to generic gameplay and levels; save-functionality in even the simplest of platforming games remove a great deal of the [challenge] in these games (not to mention the new Super Mario Bros games with endless lives)
you are aware that what Lost Alpha and Oblivion Lost - Remake are trying to capture the spirit/gameplay of... S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Oblivion Lost? (i.e. the earlier 'versions'; before the change to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl)
looks astoundingly beautiful (both aesthetically and gameplay-wise) - eagerly anticipating.
thank you for fixing this!!
now I can fully enjoy this and the demo finally felt like it should
this will be my next game to buy!
tried the demo, but my screen only supports 800x600/1024x768 and the game-screen was kinda fubar (i.e. I could only see part of it) any tips?
didn't realize I needed any other reason than DooM itself to reinstall DooM - this mod proved me wrong
I think you just managed to put DooM back at the top of all FPS's ever created again...
Mod of the Year, without a single doubt.
try to launch
ATI Radeon HD 6850
AMD Phenom (quad-core)
8GB DDR3 RAM
sincerely doubt it's the system requirements that's missing
crashes when music is "on"
is ironsight implemented yet?
YES! Thank you!
peaked my interest immediately after I saw a screenshot
booted it up and.... no option to invert mouse
please keep in mind that there are a lot of people out there who play with inverted mouse-controls (Y-Axis) event-though "most people don't"
just want to say thank you for this
this mod brought Vice City back to life for me, in ways I did not even realize the original lacked
now [that] is some serious tinkering behind the scenes - sorry if I doubted you, this does indeed seem like a very clever way of balancing the game, without losing any of the immersion
kudos to the team - you approach the difficulties of balancing the game by letting [the player] be in charge
innovative and well thought through, sorry if I doubted you
Realism Improvement: "There is no longer a maximum weight limit."
exactly how are you thinking here?
is it that I am able to carry a set amount of weapons at once? (1 small gun, 1 big gun, 1 knife?) or are you completely removing restrictions on how much one can carry?
surely by giving the player the ability to carry however many guns/items one wants, this cannot possibly be perceived as realism
I'm hoping you will go with "set number of weapons/items", since this mod already provides a realistic challenge and that would truly put it on the map amongst those of us, whom prefer a challenge when playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games...
just chiming in to say thanks
you guys have revived ShoC in ways I didn't think possible
been playing Soljanka for years now and always wanting *more content*, I finally took a break from ShoC about half a year ago
with this mod, I realize that this game isn't about content and more levels
it's about the feeling of being inside The Zone and the characters that you meet, the events that occur and the atmosphere of it all
you gave The Zone life again and brought me back
thank you for everything.
this mod gives you a minimalistic HUD interface for OGSE, by removing your health/stamina/armor/stance, as well as the mini-map/radar/clock
this must be the single greatest news in this decade
the game is available at gog.com for a nice price for those of you who missed out on it
here's to hoping that people will start recognizing the awesomeness of this and make some mods
this (and Lugaru) puts Usagi Yojimbo to shame
I'll be pre-ordering this as soon as I get some ca$h-flow
reminds me of Quake 1.
for all the talk about "freeplay"
there is always the opportunity of just not going through the last part of the game
and just free-roam before completing?
one does not necessarily have to *finish* a game in order to enjoy it.
genius piece of gaming-history
just one question
how/when do you get to save?
and from curiosity; why didn't you credit anyone in the readme?
clearly you are *still* using aLive mod, hence there should be credit to respective authors, no?
just started a new game (again, again, again) and loners still attack bandit camp prematurely and I still get 29k for the merc suit found on the attic in Rookie Camp, *after* installing the patch
