Pss.. I already won it AND playing solo... in my dreams :)
Thanks for the good work!
Excellent! It's wonderful news!
I hope BFG finally gets the mod it deserves since GW is too pants in the head retarded to try to do a video game for it.
Are those gameplay screens? Which rig do you use then (to try to recreate it). Really awesome!
Hope he's okay and come back soon.
Holly canoli... that's really an awesome UI.
The images a the upper right corner get created automatically from the ship model or are a separated image?
I'm in love with the attention to detail of this game. For example the rotating and aiming turrets, that alone sets it apart from most other games.
Absolutely wonderful! It's refreshing to see common sense on a game developer in this day and age.
Holly... that's a beauty!
That seriously sucks. I hope some day some one will make a 40k mod for EaW to show GW that Battlefleet Gothic is really worth of investment
Dude how are you? You should keep doing the Battlefleet Gothic mod!
I made it an exception in my av and all it's fine. I'm poor so is not like you could steal anything from me :P
Thanks for the great work!!!
Avast is telling me this is a virus called FileRepMetagen.
I mean, I install the game and run it fine, then install the patch and when I try to run it, avast says that and send the file to be virus vault. WHY?
How much fighters can carry?
Hi, how do I add you as a friend? If you want to of course.
Have you considered working on a grand campaing map along with this?
Trow it at me instead ;)
Holly ***** that's big. How big can a map go up in this engine?
Hi, could this be used for example, to make a game that's a combination between Civ and Total War?
Well I can relate to that, however your mods should at least share models!
Too bad the guys from Covenant at War don't want to work with you.
Was this ever completed?
Well as kaos2222 pointed out that only covers the released version. I don't know if they are saving their current progress on a backup be it a pendrive, fileserver like mega or whatever. Dropbox is pretty common and popular noways with modders. Maybe they use it or something along those lines.
Well, they have literally thousands of backups, each person with the mod in their computer have an effective backup of the mod. However many as they are, they are not at the grasp of the developers, granted, and in case this page and other mirrors go down the mod could be lost. I wonder too if they have backups on file servers or something.
No, is not, search around a little and see how well it went when they tried to do this to a novel published in Amazon called Spots the Space Marine. They got their ***** owned back to them. Neither they possees a lot of those terms as Eldar and such.
They do own the trademark when it comes to their own lore, that means I can't go around selling a Space Marine novel about their space marines explicitly saying is theirs Space Marines on the Warhammer universe. I however can use the term Space Marines as I want to as long I'm not claiming they are Games Workshop Space Marines.
Here my good men: Moddb.com
And I quote Mr. Zahaqiel:
"What GrOrc is asking for isn't to combine the Tyranid Mod in his mod - we said yes to that, like we do for most other modders. And he'd be able to use our models and animations freely (and make his mod a smaller download) if he did that, but he doesn't want to do it that way because it would mean some extra coding on his part."
So it's like, he's not employing the assets which would be fine, he's simply stuffing the whole mod into his.
Mr. Gorb, do you know anything about Heretic? I sent him a sample of a button for the BFG mod and he haven't replied, I hope is not like the button was so disgusting he decided to ignore me :D
And again, after further reading, I see the Tyranid Mod actually gave him permission to integrate their mod with his, explicitly the models and animations, but what about the code? Does that come with the DB entires too? It's still kind of foggy, but from a impartial point of view, of someone that just got here it's starting to look awfully against GrOrc.
I didn't meant to be childish but realistic, as something that can happen, has happened and will sure happen in the future.
Well I actually made a search around for this, in my country you will not be hindered by any kind of law to do what GrOrc has done, however I does seem there's a legal ground to reclaim the use of one assets on international laws even if they themselves are upon a third entity IP. However it's really difficult to see anyone actually pursuing this in a court and probably will be dismissed pretty fast. Also, I don't know about you, but once some moder sues other moder over a mod, modding would die pretty quickly or become a rather unpleasant hobby.
I can relate to both parties here, my advice would be to GrOrc to issue an apologize for not crediting the makers (not owners) of the models and the makers giving permission of use as is a really pity stance to not do so, really, I understand you have your reasons but there's no real monetary or otherwise reason for you not allowing some models to be used for another mod as long you are properly credited, the portfolio argument is specially pity if you asked me. But in the end of the day is your call, and if you simply say no, by the reasons you might have, as a gentleman in a gentleman agreement, GrOrc should accept that and make or find other Tyranid models if he wish to pursuit integrating them into the mod he's making.
And I seriously doubt you can claim legal ownership of a 3d model you make out of other person IP in this case GW, that could actually work against you in most legal systems. Barring that, using 3d assets with disregard of courtesy and asking or even getting to a arrangement is really rude.
As pointed above you can legally use whatever the hell assets you want from whatever mod you want as long is circulating around, there's nothing legally you can do about it unless you actually are a lawyer from GW. And even if so, I seriously doubt any moder would fight legally (paying money to a layer and all that) for another moder using his assets, that he released freely on the internet on the first place, and even if you include a "do not use without permission", well, sorry to burst the bubble but it doesn't have any legal grounds or legs to stand on.
I have made a lot of modding and programing, and never had the slight problem with sharing something I know I can't make money out of it, it's a real pity position to do that.
