Ah yes, from the intro cinematics from ME:A.
Achso, dachte du hast auch das Design selbst gemacht, kenne den Transporter aus ME gar nicht ^^
Well, we will see how this fans out, I gave you my legal concerns about the situation and the involvement of any kind of monetary revenue gained from clearly not only interpreting but coping from an established and copyrighted brand as is. I know what you are referring to with your fair use part. This for example is a great example of a "no copyright infringement" scenario due to satirical and informational use of the creators work: Youtube.com
Nintendos take on patreon and mods in particular is a great example on 'their' less relaxed take on this. They will sue everything on patreon for making money of of their work. Just google Nintendo and patreon and you will find some examples. Fox Entertainment is another company constantly taking down "free" mods and games within the alien(s) franchise to save their claims. They can and will do this without hesitation.
Or an even more extreme version:
You may have heard about the day care center story, with painted Disney characters on their wall and they allegedly got sued by Disney for that? Well it is all true:
Quite harsh but right non the less. You could say, "well it was only a interpretation of the characters, cause the artist draw them himself", but it was based up on trademarked character(s) and Disney had to save its claims to their original work.
That is not entirely correct. He is not doing someones homework, or asks people to donate some money, cause he's a nice guy, which he could charge or receive donations as you stated, via any service possible at any time, but instead he creates a model/mod from a known intellectual property and tries to make money of of it, donation, or not. The problem itself is already in the advertisement with the mentioning of Star Wars. He gains profit by creating and using someones copyrighted material and based on that fact alone it is already an illegal procedure. If he would, for example, create an entirely new mod, new models, from a fictional own inspiration, new sounds and art, he would be free to charge or ask for donations as he would see fit. But since this mod and his work is centered around a already existing and trademarked brand, he violates this trademark.
Think about it: I could create a pair of boots that, for example, look like a pair of a well known brand, and I would advertise them on a site and tell you, hey, I got a donation site, just spend what you want, cause I'm a nice guy and I do nice things for you to wear. Would that be legal? No it would not, cause it is based of of a product, that is not legally mine and I cannot ask money for it, I cannot even post this on a website for a start, even thought it was I who created the boot entirely on my own.
Disney, as many companies is not as forcefull, when it comes to their trademarks in regards to modifications for games. But if you try to gain from their property, without their consent, you are in violation of their right.
While I do not want to side with any party here involved, I do have to say, just in term of legal reasons, You can not make money with the intellectual property of another party. You may try, but it is illegal to do so. Disney/LucasArts, is very open, in case of modding and Star Wars related stuff, but if you try to make money via any platform or in any other case directly profit of of their product is a violation of their respective rights.
I would recommend you to pull this donation via patreon.
Das sieht wirklich sehr cool aus und passt super in das Design der ME Reihe :-)
Glückwunsch meinerseits zum Release! Sobald ich wieder gen Heimat fahre, werde ich diese Mod endlich mal anspielen :-)
Noice! Sehr gute Umsetzung des Models!
By the Emperor, this would be grand! Hopes are up, take your time!
I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite mod on the DB!
Mako all the way, but great model ^^
Really impressive work, so much detail on all levels. Awesome!
Really cool design ideas. Love it!
Ach was...da schau her! Na dann noch viel Erfolg! Warte schon sehr darauf, endlich mal wieder EF anzupacken :-D
And for all the other folks, just some random German gibberish!
This is huge!
Cheers for that!
That would be cool!
I once modded all the files myself and even got the working joes to not have red eyes unless you mess with them (hit them or shoot them) then they go berserk and attack you. But I also had to deal with the crashes and only could play certain parts of the Station.
If you manage to get the crashes out, I will switch to your mods instead...so good luck! ^^
Really looking forward to this mod!
This looks really detailed and very impressive! Saubere Arbeit! Toll!
Awesome! Looking forward to this! :D
I would love to just have the ship models replaced, or added as an additional selection for human race players. I find them very fitting for any human empire kind. So....maybe you would consider a separate release? :-)
Well, I do belive (and hope) there are way more players that get this, but do not post here about it and just wait till your mod is ready for them to play. I for myself am really looking forward to play your mod sometime in the future. Cheers for making it!
I must applaud you for that. Most Modders forget about this and make the factions equal and therefor very bland to play. The Empire is the big powerplayer, but they have quantity over quality. Also, the rebel players/ai should be more centered around fast strike and guerrilla tactics...most hero units should be invisible on the galactic map. Will you also alter some planetary maps or add any planets you think are missing when you are done with the space part?
fancy pantsy! Nice ^^
Perfect! I loved how Rebels finally picked up some of the great designs from the EU, like the Quasar and the Interdictor and seeing them comming to EaW, and looking as good as this, just great!
I love the cold, functional design of the Alliance. Nice work, very fitting. Maybe only thing I would miss are some toned windows into the empty frames, to shield the interior from the weather?! Or else they always need to wear suits in harsh environments.
Great Trailer, looking forward to the new release! :-)
Sounds most impressive! Looking forward to it and, thank you for your hard work on this mod! :-D
And to you too! :-)
Love it :-)
