Aye, it's true that some of us are busy with real life, etc and that causes less time to work on LA. I for one will continue working on all the VO work, I don't like leaving anything unfinished. I would not jump to conclusions at this point, some of us will continue to work while others may not be able to at this point in time.
Now that we have 2 other play testers (myself included), work is moving along. On my end though, I am mainly going through all the VO scenes in game to tweak the min/max volume distances to make sure all the voices are around the same volume and better match the volume during camera pans in some of the cut scenes.
My own personal goal when I started this project was finding voices that fit within LA's atmosphere. I also wanted to be consistent with the sound of the previous STALKER games. It was never a question of how good or bad the voice acting was, but how do the voices fit within our game world and the "sound" GSC established.
I know not everyone will be happy, but I think right now we have about 500 new lines of dialogue. That is a massive undertaking in itself and I hope people will appreciate all the time that has gone into this aspect of the game :)
That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I am proud of the voice talent as is the rest of the team. I stand by our work 100% and if you do not like it, there is not much we can do to change that.
I appreciate everyone's feedback, I tried the monolith chant a few ways. The normal "brainwashed" sound as Zerk said, did not sound right within context of the scene.
I have already seen the final cut scene and the way it is voiced now will make more sense to people once you play the game.
Desert Hunter will have all the best modern game mechanics, such as:
+ Super blood splash screens! So much blood is on the screen, that you won't be able to see for a full 1 minute, so real!!
+ Super health regen! There is no dying here, your health does not deplete at all, if you get shot, there is simply a laughing sound from the actor!
+ Uber cover based system! Our cover based system is so advanced, that the AI will boar holes in all of the roadblocks and shoot through them!
+ Absolutely no lean function! Leaning has been replaced with guns that utilize suppressor's that are bent at 90 degrees to the left or right, so you can shoot around buildings!
Great MOD! Been playing this for for a while now. One question isn't Unofficial Patch 7.9 (plus version) supposed to add a few NPC's, like a few in the arcade on the pier and one of them is playing the arcade machines? I don't have any of them in my game and the plus version was selected from the installer. Thanks!
That would have been cool, but you cant reach someone like that normally without going through an agent. That means he would most likely cost $$, when this is volunteer work :)
I am sorry this happened but the team should in no way let this effect them. You have too much support from fans to allow this get in the way of *your version of STALKER. I understand you would not want the hacker releasing features, but in reality, what can the person(s) do with this data? That is your work no matter what and it is your vision, that WE, the fans want to play.
Has the team done anything in regards to fixing some of the AI quirks? For example, when multiple NPCs spawn, they will "stack" on top of each other when walking towards their destination. Or, when in alert mode all of the NPC's take out their weapons and "stack" to a single point waiting to attack. I always thought these things broke immersion, but am not sure if that could be fixed or not.
I was wondering the same thing as Finlander... will there be options for configuring the HUD? I normally only play with health and stamina bar on screen.

It is not the Monolith, it will be a very nice surprise :)

Yes, we have a large amount of original voice acting for essential/non essential NPC's in game and cut scenes :)
You are asking if the NPC's say "get out of here stalker" ? I think you may finally be running out of questions! :P

Jim McCabe is a colleague of mine, please visit www.voiceofjim.com if you want to hear more examples of his work!
Simply AMAZING!!
Wait until you hear the final in game versions (and not the bloopers :P), they will blow you away!
Everyone checkout the videos section for a new update! And of course our main site, for some new screen shots!!
