Hello, my name is Alejandro Gorgal (everybody calls me Alex or Linfo though); Im the character modeler and animator of "Depth", making divers so you can tear them apart.
Hey there, from what I've seen in the videos it looks like all male characters have this problem, the rest of the body looks good, it's just the arms that have this problem. The female looks nice though.
Here's a simple reference to give you an idea of what they should look like:
Take note that the arms go all the way down the crotch and the hands begin even lower than that.
And dont feel discouraged, proportions are a bitch, it's the thing I've had the most problems with too. But getting it right goes a long way to make your models look better.
This is looking really good. Love the female character's moves. Only thing I find a bit odd is the length of the male character's arms, they seem a bit short.
Anyway, keep up the good work :)
Im not sure what to make of this. A few weeks ago you guys made this huge announcement about the allegations of you guys running with the money and not paying your staff in what's probably one of the biggest "Streisand effect" scenarios I've seen in the gaming biz.
It was weird and I believe it makes indies look bad, but you guys said you would be posting more info about to clear things out, which I think was a good idea and would have helped clear things out.
Then out of nowhere Orion's moddb profile is erased, which was a very strange damage control tactic but whatever, let's roll with it.
Now after a big silence you appear out of nowhere, giving no explanations and posting a silly April's fool joke.
I feel like Im being taken as an idiot here. Am I supposed to pretend all that crap never happened? Im confused here.
Please don't take me wrong, I do have a sense of humor and I have no reasons to believe that the accusations are in fact real, but don't you think we deserve some kind of explanation?
Love this game! Is it bad that I died like 20 times in the tutorial?
Is there a pay per view option? I dont see the point of paying a subscription for a service you'll use once in a while.
I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for all your work on this. I've been playing it with v1.4 and despite the fact that driving physics still kinda sucks (not much you can do about that, of course) Im really enjoying it.
Multiple class races are fun and should have been on the vanilla game, also having more options when it comes to selecting a vehicle for a race makes it much more fun.
Now, if you could provide an option to disable the insane bloom effect you would be my hero :D
Btw, there's no changelog? What does this mod exactly do? Does it modify the multiplayer or the single campaign?
Fuel is modifiable? I never actually liked the game, but knowing that such a great concept still has a hope of being improved is definitely nice.
I'll give this mod a try.
In Penumbra Black Plague you could do stuff like throwing stuff at the enenies and they would react, but they were still basically inmortal so the safe bet was to run.
In Amnesia as far as I understand it you are playing as a phychotic charater that loses his mind when he sees disturbing things, so there's your reason to run away.
Anyway, Im a huge Frictional fan, I pre-ordered this the first day it was available and I cant wait for it!
Each character has a name and a class, but the are not interchangeable.
Carlos Santiago is also know as the Hunter, the Seeker is called Rosa and so on. You can refer to them by either their name or their class.
They idea is for everyone to have their own identity instead of being your typical faceless grunt.
Very, very clever idea guys. I both love and hate you for not coming up with it before :P
Personally, I think anything between 10 and 15k would be ok. Looking forward to see an in-game model :)
Digging the colours, also nice work on the springs. What poly count are you aiming at for the in-game model?
If you can keep the level hilarity through the whole game this could be a great title. Digging the new voice actor, keep it up :)
This looks interesting, but nobody's playing so I can't get out of the base to try the vehicles :(
Any way I can at least try them on my own? Noclip (ghost) didn't work for me for some reason.
Awesome, the first real mod for KF. I can´t wait to try it!
Thank you all for the support!
Im working on an actual 3D model now, I'll post pics as it progress.
You should also expect a color illustration of both the humans and the aliens over the weekend, or maybe on Monday.
I never liked the acutal game but I agree that the concept and tech are so promising.
Im glad to hear vehicle handling can be modded because right now that's the game's biggest problem.
Im not asking for a sim here, but things like being able to steer on mid air with a truck and the "potato bag" suspension system really killed the game for me.
If you could somehow improve that it would be great.
Another interesting thing is that the game engine seesm to support a vehicle damage system, but you have to smash your car very hard to notice it. Would be nice to see if that can be improved.
Anyway, I'll stop rambling now, good luck with the mod!
Really nice model. Is that duck tape on his shoulder? Nice XD
Also love the leather material on the jacket.
Really looking forward to this one. Also, is it me or are the hyperlinks of the screenshots aren't working?
Nicely optimized model, is the bag part of the model or it is an attachement? Would be nice if you add cloth physics to it.
Also, this mod looks awesome.
I still cant figure out Bioware's store and I hate fake money, why cant I just buy this off Steam?
That first shot there is probably the most badass piece of concept art that I've ever seen. Not that Im complaining about the in-game graphics which are top notch.
Im quite impressed with 0 AD, I thought it was made with pre-rendered graphics and BAM! You moved the camera, very nice.
About the turning/rotation speed, I agree that it's not realistic to be able to turn around so fast, but if you think about it, the only way to make it more realistic would be to lower the mouse sensitivity to emulate the effect, and that is never good ;)
This stuff is as weird as it is awesome. It's surreal how something can be so ugly and so creative at the same time (I know that sounds like an insult, but it's not).
Looking forward to seeing some environments too.
For some reason I love this kind of mini-mod more than full conversions. Being able to keep the gameplay pure and still have nice little details like this is SO GOOD.
That is so messed up (I love it!) :D
That is impressive! Also, nice video editing.
Borrowed? Im disappointed.
My love for racing games commands me to track this. Do you have a list of available cars?
I was initially trying to help you with advice, but you ignored me and continued to post stolen content, it was hard not to mock you after you went there..
I LOVE those designs! You are a light of hope in a world of derivative zombie games.
What's this? An original idea for a HL mod? I think Im gonna cry.
Good luck man, hunting games have a certain stealth element that can be very interesting if done right.
You people are awesome.
BTW, I apologise for the probably annoying question, but is there any chance that this will work in Crysis 1? I dont have Warhead.
Might be worth getting it if I see it cheap on steam sometime I guess.
Yes, I remember the people from Gameloft weren't too happy about that. But as NullSoldier mentioned, Steve's beef is with Adobe.
Meanwhile, the Android platform continues to take a bigger part of the smartphone market..
Congrats, I habe Bob came in Pieces on Steam, nice game. I guess this means you'll be making an iPhone version? Good luck then!
I love it how you simply erased my post instead of replying even though I was being objective and polite, way to go, goes to show your level of maturity.
Poor guy has no money AND is being chased by a Great White, Im sure he had better days XD
Looks like you are having some problems with Ashley's rig on the legs. That said, I like the model.
Your character designs are amazing, Im tracking the **** out of this project!
I just gave the build a try for the first time, I've only tried ot for a few minutes but the improvements you've made to the art are amazing. Also to my surprise, the music and sound effects are awesome, keep it up!
Wow, the new tileset looks amazing!
That's a really cool character design.
The model and texturing is great! But there seems tobe some smoothing groups issues.
I love the hatch body, the paint..not so much. Will you be able to tone down the shininess?
Is the AO map baked into the texture or is it real time?
Any chance you'll add mouse support?
Damn, this is Unity? Amazing!
That looks really cool, custom built engine? Impressive.
Really nice guys! And looks like you have a nice base car for me to try and recreate a Lancia Delta Integrale, sweet!
Woot! Looking forward to try this once I get back home.
The smoke looks really good, but I do think there should be more particles coming out of it. After all, that's what a fragmentation grenade is all about, it's not the explosion but the pieces of shrapnel that come out of it that gets you.
Anyway, looking forward to the game!
Can you license designs and sell them to other manufacturers? That would be cool.
Looking forward to the next update.
Really good models. Also digging the art style.
Great work, it looks really good! Does the digital panel works?
Sebas! Todo bien? Muchas gracias por el comentario, saludos!
The problem is that I dont think that consoles are entirely to blame.
Before I was a PC gamer I was a console owner (with my last console being the glorious Dreamcast) and I can assure you that there tons of console games that are far from the dumbed down mess made to appeal the lowest common denominator possible that we see today.
I believe the problem is more spread out. As companies get bigger and budgets increase there's a bigger focus in revenue than in quality.
Let's not forget that all previous Splinter Cell titles were released on the original Xbox and yet Conviction remains to be an incredibly linear third person shooter that casually pretends to be a stealth game.
As corporations grow larger they lose focus in creativity, and simply try to increase profit as much as possible.
People are going to buy these games because they are not created for us, they are created for a new generation that doesn't have anything to compare this to, and that buys into the hype that is so easy to buy nowadays (mostly thanks to video game journalism having almost zero standards aside from a few decent indie ones like RPS).
And sadly this happens on both PC and consoles alike.
So yeah, the industry is ****** :P
Is the grass texture new? It looks nice.
Excellent! Will you be able to test drive the cars at some point?
I wish I could think if something clever to say but all I can think of is "holy ****!" Great works guys :)
Nice details! I can see what you meant about being inspired by TDU :)
Looking good, keep it up! :)
I can assure you that divers have a lot to worry about other than some extra weight in their heads! :P
Makes perfect sense to me!
I was finally able to join a game on build 157 for the first time since the alpha was released. Despite the lag it was very enjoyable, graphics are great and performance is slowly improving.
Solid game even in this state, love how the teamwork is vital to victory, keep it up guys!
What are the changes to the AI? Is it still faster than you at top speed?
That's a cool picture of a dinosaur toy, too bad it wont be in the game!
Because turing the diffuse map into a normal would be terribly hard right?....
Yay! Thank you for this!
Ok seriously dude, you could at least take a screenshot of your map, that preview image is almost insulting.
I think that would probably look more realistic if it had more bloom.
"Quaid...Start the reactor... free Mars"
Im interested in helping part time, I sent you an email. Lovely art style by the way.
Im sorry, I dont mean to troll here but I fail to understand how swapping an animation for another has anything to do with AI.
Perhaps the post needs to be expanded to explain further the relation between the two things?
Such great art direction and color balance, Im so tracking this mod.
Weeeee! Im done with weight painting! The hands (the most problematic part IMO) are looking great!
I just love these texture packs, they are great for many purposes.
Do you think you could upload a pack with other things like skin, hair and other materials such as plastic? Those things are kinda hard to come by.
Are You A Bad Enough Dude To Rescue The President?
I believe that's just a placeholder.
Probably one of the best looking custom maps I´ve seen.
Looks great, this + space station map would be incredible.
Why not both? The more, the merrier!
Love the skybox =P
Great skills, and he actually looks like a normal person!
Mmmmm...Not a bad idea. We'll see once we setup a website.
Thanks, I didn't use zpheres for this one, I donwloaded a free human model someone posted on the zbrush forums (I'll post a link later) and worked from there.
Yeah, Im so cheap, I know.
But in my defense I had to do a lot of editing.
Help me, my nose is bleeding!
