Hi, and thanks for visiting my profile page. My name is Michael I am an avid reader, cyclist and PC gamer. I enjoy a wide range of PC games, from mainstream to indie titles and am currently hooked on Team2Bit's Fist Puncher, a wicked-fun 2-D retro side-scroller punch 'em up. When I'm pressed for time, I like playing 48 Chambers and 99 Levels to Hell.

Too Many Me

Game review may contain spoilers

A really fantastic game, well worth two bits. Too Many Me is all about timing and co-ordination. Set in a beautifully rendered world, your character starts off as a lone runner, running to electro dance music. Portals exist in the game that, when you jump through them, create a clone of yourself. In this way, you can have multiple copies of yourself running through the levels. This simple concept makes for some surprisingly challenging gameplay, and I like challenges. So, is Too Many Me worth buying? In case you can't tell from my review, I love this game! But if you are in any doubt, watch the preview trailer, check out the screenshots, and decide for yourself. If you are willing to take the ($2) plunge, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. A refreshing addition to the genre and well worth my hard-earned cash.

Estranged

Mod review

A fun title, but it's over too quickly (Alpha 5). The zombie animations are clunky, and it doesn't help that every one looks the same. Needs more than 2 weapons in the game as well to make it a serious contender to other HL-2 single player games. I like the atmosphere and story though, and I also like that each segment is playable in about 15-30 minutes. Fleshing out the story, increasing the number and variety of enemies (from 1 to more), adding new weapons, and more levels will improve the game.

Teleglitch

Game review may contain spoilers

A real little gem of a game. Teleglitch is different from most games I have played due to it's emphasis on exploration and discovery, crafting system (very easy to use), and overall appearance (very unusual). Everything in the game is distorted, and the distortion effect also happens when you fire a weapon. The tutorial for this game is excellent and can be revisted at any time through the main menu. I would dock points for the very basic graphics and limited option menu. I'd like to have an option to change the game's appearance to make objects easier to identify. Other than this one quibble, I highly recommend Teleglitch, if you are looking for a very fun, open world sci-fi adventure. 8/10

Xenonauts

Game review may contain spoilers

I don't like the "hidden movement" screen-over (where a static graphic is imposed over the entire screen whenever hidden enemies move). I'd like to be able to see my characters REGARDLESS of whether the enemies are hidden or not. That way, I can see whether they are taking damage or not or what type of damage. As it is, I have to try and recall their stats every time.

Too much detail in the game item/weapon screens. UFO: Alien Invasion gets it right, with fewer and larger buttons. In Xenonauts, key information is hard to find (e.g. what an item costs, how long it takes to build, etc. VITAL player information!)

Animations and visual art style are both outstanding, and I appreciate that the developer has taken the time to create so many unique character portraits for the soldiers. This adds to the realism and makes each soldier feel "important" to the player.

I'd like to see more alien enemy variety. Right now, all of the enemies on a level are carbon copies of each other. At the very least there should be "fat" aliens or short ones along with the tall lanky ones.

I haven't encountered any bugs so far, which is a big plus. Looking forward to future updates!

UFO: Alien Invasion

Game review may contain spoilers

In some ways, UFO: AI is superior to paid Xcom titles. The interface is simpler (larger buttons, fewer screens, larger text, fewer options, key information such as item costs and build-times is presented up-front and clearly); the gameplay more intuitive. I also like that I didn't have to consult a manual to figure out how to play the game. Finally, this game is actually fun to play. While the music offerings are limited, they fit PERFECTLY with the gameplay. And after playing the game for over an hour, I had to tear myself away from my PC. Kudos to the developer for putting together a quality offering.

Downsides: Very basic graphics, aliens are clones of each other, graphical glitches (especially line of sight and clipping)

Plus: Music, weapon variety, true to the Xcom gameplay style, easy to pick-up, fun to play

Metal Dead

Game review

Metal Dead is one game you play and it stays with you. I enjoyed the charming art style, memorable quotes and storyline. There isn't much replay value, but for only a couple bucks, I'm not complaining. For those inclined to stick with it, I haven't found a puzzle that cannot be solved, and I haven't found any game glitches either. To the game's developers: Well done.

99 Levels To Hell

Game review

I am loving the game so far. A great combination of puzzle platforming, shooting, with magic, traps and monsters. Very fun to play when you have a spare 15 or 20 minutes.
