glad you enjoyed!! i'll definitely take into consideration some of that stuff when we begin working on the next version
until the file gets authorized on here, you can download the patch to fix both the drill not combining and the game crashing upon leaving the shadow maze here Mediafire.com
getting the patch up is taking a little bit longer than expected just because me and logan both have other stuff going on and we didn't really get the time to get the issues worked out. expect it to be up within the next day or two max, both the crash loading map 8 and the drill not combining are really easy fixes so its just a matter of us being able to find the time to get it done together. sorry for the inconvenience!!
we're aware of the problem, a few other people have been having it to so we should have a patch up for that sometime tomorrow
go around the back on the left side of the barn and you'll find a little area with a well with a candle on it. from there you'll be able to see the very last window on the barn which connects to the room behind the door, use the crowbar on that and you'll be able to get into the back room and you can unlock the door from that side. from there just take the sledge hammer lying on the table in the back room and swing it to the lock on the hatch on the second floor
amnesia has a tendency to do that unexpectedly for whatever reason but its pretty easy to patch so that should be fixed in a day or two most. until then make sure you have all 3 pieces of the drill before you're trying to combine it cause if you just have 2 it won't work
climb up the ladder, press the button to turn off the gravity, jump back down to the base of the ladder and throw the pipe up to the next floor while the anti gravity is still activated (when its turned off you can throw the pipe piece much further). once you have the pipe piece on the same floor as the second button, climb back up and press the button again and while the gravity is off place the pipe piece in its slot with the rest of the piping and pull the lever.
if you get stuck again there's a more detailed guide in the main folder for the mod btw
if you go to your custom stories folder and then the SubTrials folder there should be a txt file in there named something like The Subconscious Trials Guide V1.0 (forgetting the exact name but its something close to that)
it's not no
glad you're enjoying it so far, i'd love to hear what you think of the whole thing once you finish!
yeah you shouldn't need anything with a feather, if you've moved all the other things in the room just move the wine bottle on the desk and you'll be good. check the guide if you need more help
...you've seen it in the download sections of other mods? which specifically? that really doesn't make any sense, i did a quick sift through the most recently updated amnesia mods and i can't find it anywhere either
i just tested the download too and its still working so i dunno whats up there but you can always get if off the frictional games forums (right here Frictionalgames.com) too if moddb is being weird for you for some reason
it won't mess anything up with your root amnesia folders if that's what you're worried about
moddb's servers are being weird and the download i posted last night 404'd, it'll be up here soon but for now you can download it off the frictional games forums
the dl is up on the frictional games forums, it'll be posted here shortly but the dl needs to be authorized first
this actually is pretty interesting but you need to work on the composition of it more, specifically getting more foreground/midround elements (i'd suggest looking up some articles about this cause it will improve your mapping 100% and is something the large large large majority of amnesia mappers ignore)
positioning the shot so the castles to one side or the other would help a lot too since having it be dead center is pretty bland (keeping in mind the rule of 3)
how could you possibly even be updating this page as much as you are without any noticeable changes
seriously some of the best screenshots ive seen in a while - keep up what you're doing here it looks great for the most part
sometime in march is probably going to be around when its released. maybe february but probably not. i just got the very very basic alpha from my friend whos doing all the scripting so it's getting closssse
I was thinking more like the first one but it doesn't make a huge difference either way.
i got an ad for a bruce lee documentary on one of the pages for your screenshots is this fate
that's gonna lag the **** out of the game if it's ever in an area with more shadow casting spotlights
that chemical shelf setup is genius omg
wow amazing screenshot keep up the fantastic work
The sad thing is that this is probably going to get a lot more **** then the next carbon copy 3/10 custom story the everyone feels obligated to give either 9's or 10's to because it doesn't have jumpscares or pewdiepie refferences and the mapping/story/puzzles/scares are just barely above passable.
Good job with this anyways, I can't say I'm really interested in it but it's clearly well made. Too bad this community has some of the shittiest standards ever which means it'll most likely get baseless hate just because it involves ponies. Oh well.
these aren't even screenshots from your mod
>le may may faices
For the record this isn't dead (I was actually just working on it an hour ago in fact), it's just many of the maps are huge and need to be finished and then refined. I can actually say with a good amount of confidence this time that this will most likely be done by early June/July, I only have 3 small maps to do (all the main large ones are done, I just need to make the begining/ending sequences and a short cutscene) and then add in all the voice acting, test it, etc. and it'll be done.
you used :] at the end instead of =] bro are you ok
Wasn't this exact same map released a few months ago under a different name?
My last comment was deleted? Lol, I was joking man. Anywho this looks really ******* good, looking forward to it.
No ******* way this is in Amnesia, I demand a leveleditor screenshot or something.
I got a chance to play through the first few levels of this a while ago, and it's definitely something that you guys should be looking forward to.
holy **** no way
10/10 great screenshot
You didn't even put in a floor.
You didn't even make this.
I reeeeally like what you did with that window, how it's inset like that, looks very nice. My only problem with it is I feel like the texture on that table is a little bit too bright and colorful compared to the rest of the room.
I thought it was called the Subconscious Turds...
Pls get out now.
Are you serious?
And by that he means I pretty much did the whole thing.
He's right, it seems as if you're relying solely on the light that the light entities give off, instead of using pointlights to smooth out the lighting and improve it. Darkness is fine, but that's not an excuse for poor lighting.
Fully isolated conversions are different and tend to be better from a user standpoint, as they're much easier to install and uninstall and there's much less chance of original files being corrupted.
Never mind actually, I had originally seen it on a very ****** monitor so it looked like the lighting was messed up, but it looks fine now. Keep up the great work!
Reminds me a lot of the screenshot FG use for the banner on their blog, only real issue I see is how dark it is, a few pointlights could help a lot though.
Your gobos are upside down.
From the little content you've shown I can already start to tell that this is going to be a very high quality mod - very few people have actually attempted making something on this level with HPL2 (or if they did pretty much all of them failed horribly), so I have to say I'm quite looking forward to what comes of this!
"make the DLC better than the original game"
I seriously hope you mean your original mod, not better than Amnesia.
Nah there's a lot more to it than just that, you'd have to be pretty advanced with HPL2 though to see most of the issues though (both texture's tile counts are WAY too high, no decals aside from the blood, no particles, no lightsystems other than the boxlight, etc.). Though I started noticing these things as I got better at mapping so I started fixing them.
Please don't, that would just clog up Moddb with daily bumps for videos that could have easily been found through a simple YouTube search.
This could really use some low light pointlights to help attract your eyes to key points of the map, such as one by the entrance or by trees in the background. I've been using this trick for a while, it'll add a lot to your maps :)
Seeing this in game would make me insta-**** ;_;
You obviously haven't tried opening this in game yet :P
Not gonna say any dates since every other time I've done that it's ended up horribly wrong, but I wouldn't say too long, especially considering that on the last week or so I've started working like crazy on this (I thought that development of it was taking WAY too long so I basically decided I'm not going to play any games until I at LEAST have all the mapping done).
Mmmm... Shadowcasters ^^
I'm gonna be honest... Looking back on this screenshot, it honestly looks like ****. I'll make sure to fix this map up before I release it...
... Solar powered factory? Not really sure to be honest, looks good though.
You should lower the tile count whenever placing planes, it'll make them look much nicer and you won't see as much repetition in the texture.
Updated it, I think it looks much better now :)
The fact that you knew to use welders is enticing me to play this... Hmmm...
New painting :)
Yeah this is a REEEEALLY old screenshot, I plan on going back and revising a lot of stuff like that since I've become a much better mapper over time.
I highly doubt this is actually copyrighted...
But will it have scooters or Capri sun, that is the question...
Reminds me a lot of the Wine Cellar from the main game :)
Not gonna lie, I didn't like the first one too much. Definitely had potential though. Hope you guys are really able to take what you had from the last one and improve on it in this one :)
All will be explained in time. :)
You really scored with getting Rapture to help you, he's a very skilled mapper :D
Try putting a shadow casting spotlight in the corner where the candle is, it could make this area look a lot more interesting :)
I believe there is already a WIP story with this name...
Sounds like it might be an issue with the map cache, go into your maps folder and delete all of them and try again. Hope it works :)
Quick tip: turn off insanity effects when you're taking screenshots. Will look much better :)
You obviously aren't smart enough to grasp the concept of the mod, don't be a bitch because you tried something good that you were too stupid to understand.
Reminds me a lot of the Storage from the main game. Keep up the great work!
I have to say, I'm LOVING that you used music from The Mist :)
I have to ask, was this inspired at all by the mod I've been making? It's just the description you gave reminded me a lot of it, same with some of the screenshots.
Oooh that's actually a really good idea! Gonna have to use that one :) thanks for the tip!
Are those trees new models? Or just carefully placed models from the main game?
One tip, it looks very unnatural having all those candles and have them not lighting ANYTHING, it makes them look like they're floating in mid air. Just plop down a few point lights in between them and it will look much better.
Did you model this yourself?
Found a slight mapping error, the curtains on the far left seem to have the welders they're attached through sticking through them, just something you might want to fix up.
Sorry for the profanity, but, JESUS ******* CHRIST THIS LOOKS AMAZING!
You should only put billboards coming out of only one side instead of both sides, it's a lot more realistic if you think about how the sun shines through windows.
Noticed a small error here, the window on the right is missing curtains. That aside though, this looks amazing!
YES i'm aware there are some billboards going through the curtains, i'm working on that now. just try to ignore that for now :P
thanks man! and yes, if everything works out how i plan you will hopefully have to think very hard/do another playthrough to fully grasp the story :)
