I strike a lot of earth.
Ok. DLed the tutorial, and loved it so much I bought it. Now that I've been playing for a few days, I wanted to ask: Is there ANYBODY here who can help me sift through the seemingly endless sea of mods? I hate downloading stuff only to have it suck, and have really no way of separating the chaff from the wheat. PMs and responses to this would be very much appreciated!
Happy birthday, brother!
Who is John Galt?
You try out the new DF minecarts yet?
More Z levels? ... Nah.
Bahahaha, this is hilarious! Love it!
I had never even really considered it a possibility... Until now.
Alright, so for those of you who are interested, there is a download that is NOT Lazy Newb which still includes a tileset and some goodies--it's straight off of Mike "Mayday" Green's website. For those of you who may have heard of the name, yes, it is the one and only Mayday who made the Mayday tileset. This is also the set included with the download; I use it myself and would highly recommend it. The download has the most current version of DF (0.34.07), but lacks programs you might enjoy (e.g., Soundsense, Stonesense, Dwarf Therapist). Anything you want other than the added embark profiles, tileset, and worldgen can be downloaded separately should you feel so inclined.
Here's a link; hope it helps get you going! Mayday.w.staszic.waw.pl
Bahaha, now THAT looks like the kind of Fun that can only be had in Dwarf Fortress.
On another, related note: I think I'm gonna try that "Excess war dogs in a pit" thing, myself. I've been butchering so many puppies...
For those of us who do not know what Boatmurdered is... I've got you. Here she is in all of her glory, the most famous saga DF has ever known. Prepare to laugh, prepare to cry, and prepare to... Well, I guess mostly just laugh. And read. 'Cause it's looooong. Worth it though; a good way to kill some time! Which reminds me; perhaps in the future this group can get a Let's Play like Boatmurdered together.
Anyway, without further ado, I present to you: The Saga of Boatmurdered.
For those of you interested, here is a link to the Slaves to Alcohol: Dwarf Fortress Fanpage! Thank you for your interest and time,
So THAT'S what happened during the Ice Age...
Although I'm not a huge fan of Minecraft, I think your card game looks quite clever! Good work on that, Sam, it looks really very pro.
Hahaha, exactly! And actually, now that I see your name on here, I can't help but think: "Was that an effing VAMPIRE I was trying to kill?!"
Number 5... Jesus. Too funny.
I had a ballista, too... But I thought my militia and war dogs were enough. Apparently NOT.
The idea was solely based off of the fact that DF dwarves need to drink alcohol to work and stay sane. Dwarves are not Slaves to Armok, but rather Slaves to Alcohol. It's just a bit of an (overused) inside joke about DF ;)
Nope. Check the Articles section for the newest version (0.34.07). It should be the one on the top.
Oh, for the plus key, right. That would be it. The minus key is simply -, whereas the + is only activated by hitting Shift first. Well have Fun!
I've never played Adventure Mode since I'm so wrapped up in Fortress, but the UI can be a bit tricky at times. It uses an eclectic mix between the mouse and the keyboard; have you tried using your mouse?
A hilarious little story with awesome concept art! The story of Bronzemurder (no, not the one with the ninja pachyderms). Timdenee.com
And another wonderful DF comic by Tim Denee: The Saga of Oilfurnace!
Finally, for those of you who are interested, here is some really, really excellent DF concept art. Dwarf-fortress-art.deviantart.com
For those of you that are too lazy to go to the wiki or the bay12games.com website, we also have a DF group on here that we try to keep updated. By all means feel free to drop by! Slaves to Alcohol: Dwarf Fortress Fanpage.
There's some really cool concept art about that on deviantART... Dwarf-fortress-art.deviantart.com /gallery/33739213#/d4dla0d
Well then, here it is! I was hoping to create this group to get Desura members more aware of DF, as well as supporting a related fanbase as a satellite of Bay12. In so doing, it is possible that Desura will update the current DF version more frequently, as well as show people that DF is both well-established and !!Fun!!. I will do my best to provide links to everything DF related so, at the very least, Slaves to Alcohol (StA) can become a DF info hub. Let's see what we can do!
If you love DF as much as we do, I have been in dire need of a friend to chat with about it! Hope to hear back soon, and much respect from China!
I found that out recently... For some reason, the Lazy Newb pack won't work through Desura, so I just downloaded the freestanding version. If not only because I get a headache when I watch the old/original/supported graphics. Needless to say, the "new" graphic content really helped clear that up. This game is... Frustratingly complex, and by far the most indepth game I've ever seen. It's amazing.
Still not ENTIRELY sure why the two downloads differ... But I am very, very looking forward to this game.
