Hello! I am just a guy who loves creating things, which have led me to a quite successful career in the flash game "Happy Wheels" and eventually also led me to Amnesia: The Dark Descent mods, and now game developing.
Thank you! :)
Thank you! :D
New news post! TLoTA 2 has been announced!
Sort of, and sort of not. TLoTA 2 is like the first game and keeps it's side scrolling (2.5D) gameplay.
However, the map and towns (general HUB levels honestly) are controlled in 3D to allow for better exploration and such.
Sadly, no. I understand that this could be quite an issue for people with only one controller to play with, but due to how Unity detects controller input it is impossible as far as I know.
To explain it better: When you connect a controller, it usually then takes Player 1's input. If you connect another one after that, it becomes Player 2, and so forth.
Now, the issue is that the keyboard is always Player 1. So with only one controller, you'd both control Player 1. This is how it is handled, so unless you can set the player that the keyboard and the specific controller controls, this is sadly impossible.
I'm not an expert on it, so if there is some kind of program or trick that allows you to do this (I've searched a bit around, didn't find anything that did though) it should be entirely possible.
But unless you find a way to set the player they control it appears to be impossible.
Sorry I can't do much about this, but thats just how the system works(can't say if it is the machine itself or Unity though).
It may be dumb, but you'd have to find a way around it at the moment. ._.
Hey! I'm the developer of The Legend of The Artifact. I just noticed this game due to iSolsticeDay sharing it, and I have to say that I am impressed! Looks like a ton of fun. :D
Thanks a ton! :D
Haha, thank you! I'd have more time if I didn't have to go to school. Luckily got some extra days off and such, so things are going smoothly most of the time. :)
I will be posting news very soon! I apologize for any delays.
Sadly not much! I am still working on TLoTA, and afterwards I will probably work with iSolsticeDay on a project together. So I frankly have no idea when work will be resumed on this one.
Hehe, yeah. ;)
Probably longer than expected. Another project has pretty much appeared now, so this will most likely be even further delayed I'd think. :P
I posted this project ages ago, so I'd think it'd be yours that look like mine or something. :P
But yeah, I doubt it'll very similar.
But since you already got so many cubes... Buy the sock. Do it, trust me. xP
The first one is basically just me forgetting stuff. I gotta give myself tons of cubes to test the shops, I knew I'd forget to set it back again afterwards. xP
The text is basically just another piece of the GUI I've forgotten to fix up for different screen sizes. I'll get that fixed.
No idea why it would close itself, but I'll check it out. Probably just a simple error. ;)
Looks nice. ;)
Yes, but as in greek mythology. There the Hypocrite is someone who hides their own identity. Which fits very well with Hypokhrisis, it says more about him over at DA.
And of course a mix with crisis. ;)
Unity does that automatically. Unused content shouldn't create any performance issues either, they should basically just make a larger file size.
But optimization is a must in the future, yeah. As many as possible should be able to enjoy the game without lag. :P
I think the effect looks nice as long as it is not there for too long in one stretch of the game.
It could get annoying if it is there too much. If you avoid that, I think it looks cool. :P
Yeah, positioning is still in progress on a few things. Her broom is supposed to fly a bit on its own after she jumps off as well, but I haven't gotten to that yet either. :P
I didn't even know you had a DeviantArt account! You should've told me, haha. :P
Anyways, I left you a comment over there.
Ah, I see. Well, now my only question is how looks like, haha. I've only seen those pictures from inside him really. :P
I have taken a look at the controller issue. I might have fixed it, as it still works perfectly fine with a Ps3 controller, and it sounds likely for it to work with an Xbox controller as well.
Sadly I have no Xbox controller to test it with, the reason I knew of the issues from before was because a friend of mine brought his Xbox controller with him to play.
I guess I'll just wait until next time he brings his controller to test if it works or not.
I'm guessing you guys used Xbox controllers? The Xbox controllers have some really odd things going on with them in the game. I have no idea why at the moment. I'm still working on that.
The stuck thing doesn't make sense at all. Players can't collide with each other. You guys must have done something else to trigger this. I have noticed that on some occasions nobody can move for some reason though.
Thats just a missing invisible wall. Thats no issue. Just don't go to the left for now. :P
Sorry if those controller issues are ruining the experience for you guys, but there is nothing I can do about it just yet. I will see if I can't fix it sometime, hopefully in the next update at least.
You can play story mode with up to four players. However, you need one controller for each player.
You can also play PVP against each other on various stages that are linked to the story. In PVP you can also change a ton of settings like the gamemode, amount of lives, item spawn frequency and the item switch where you can turn of items in general or specific items.
So I'm not sure if you were aware of it, but TLoTA has a pretty advanced PVP mode in it along with the story mode. Should be able to give hours of fun if you have the controllers for it. ;)
While it does sound mean to say it, I'm kinda happy it was just the computer. Sorry! xD
Anyways, tell me once you get to try it out on that other computer.
The new version is up now!
It is delayed because IndieDB logged me out while uploading, but it should soon be up for authorization at least. :P
Indeed it is! The Parachtosites are based off on the Metroid series as a whole actually. ;)
Wind effects are always nice! A bit hard to tell from the picture only, but I can see how it would look.
Who/what is Daidarabotchi anyway? I kinda feel I need to know after these screenshots, hehe. :P
It's an idea, but I think blood knights are much scarier, haha.
Though, I did make some unique enemies which are from another game of mine into enemies for that new sidequest. So it could always be some kind of extra miniboss enemy or something cool like that, as I have started adding some things like that. But it depends on what side quests there will be, and if there are better ideas. :P
Personally, I think the lighting effects make it a lot better.
It kinda makes it more detailed, while at the same time keeping that 8-bit style. :P
Glad you like it! ;)
They aren't new though, I just had the chance to show it off now that I can make GIFs. :P
Well, if we are talking about the skybox I'd say make a more fitting one. :P
You know what? I'll have a go and see how it looks when I try making it myself. It's time I tried anyways.
I'd say keep it. It makes the game unique when others in a similar style does not have such things. ;)
Not really sure if you are talking about the skybox or the helicopter though.
I haven't played it yet, no. Been awfully busy with my own game, and we recently moved to a new house and such. I'll tell you if I play it. ;)
Thanks, glad you like it!
It is still a bit undetailed, I hope to get some more interesting background stuff in a lot of levels. But right now I just gotta work a lot so I can actually make them playable first. :P
Of course! There are tons of secrets just about everywhere, hehe. I will have at least a couple of secret levels for each world.
There is even a couple secret bosses! One is even present in the demo, and beating it unlocks you a character. ^_^
I'll note that it isn't an easy boss! But it is probably the least expected boss ever, haha! xD
Looks pretty cool! I like that crashed helicopter, not what I'd expect to see!
One thing I'm a bit unsure of though, is if the background fits the game that well. It sort of looks too realistic in comparison to the rest of the game's style.
Personally I think it is the same situation for my game, I think I should try making some skyboxes myself that fits better... We'd both probably both benefit from doing that!
Thanks, glad you like it!
And about Chip, his hat should be a bit more spiky, yeah. What's odd is that his hat is not supposed to be so "crooked" on the spikes. They just turned out like that inside Unity for some reason. But I'll work more on his hat and see what I can do about it. :P
Oh and yes. I did talk about those round things on their chests. Mwahaha! xP
Only their looks are updated. I have been aiming more towards how the concept art looked, because it is never good if the game looks better on paper than real-time.
So their heads are larger and their eyes are bigger, giving them a more cute look as in the concept art.
I also updated Aria's hair a bit, as I actually found out that her hair had an unnecessary high poly count, and made it a little bit sharper on the edges.
Oh and I also gave the female characters a little... Upgrade. Hehe, felt I had to!
While it has meant a lot of extra work, I feel it is much better now, as they are much closer to what you expect when seeing the artwork. ^_^
Heh, well... I'll send you a private message. ;)
Going great! Adding the new towns and such now, it really adds to the world of TLoTA with more characters to meet and talk to, places to go, stuff to buy and things to do!
Hoping to get stuff like side quests and everything in there after a while. So I suppose you could say that TLoTA also has a side with some RPG elements.
Making Alexia's hometown now actually, it's called Deadwood Town.
Well, apparently it is really easy to get, at least for the Wii U. I checked a bit around on it, and it didn't have any price tag anywhere to say it like that.
But it was a minor check, I'm not quite there yet in terms of checking all there is about it. I'll get to that after the PC release I'd guess. ;)
The next demo version should be out pretty soon. Of the available characters in it I only miss new moves for Luna. So if I finish her moves up it should be ready to go! Thinking of maybe making another PVP level or two along with it though.
On another note I really like Flora and Rosa as well, hehe. :P
No characters only have kicks and punches as special attacks. But yeah, she could do something like that, she'd probably be more fitting for a ranged fighter with various side effects on her attacks such as the wind you mentioned and dizziness.
Could probably take out a little broom to fly on or something as well, hehe. ;)
I haven't been able to work on any of the new characters yet, as I have tons of moves to make for the current ones before that. I will get to it after I am done with at least the ones present in the demo though.
The game isn't done obviously, but you could still play with friends and colleagues, the PVP mode is in the demo after all. :)
Thanks! It is highly appreciated. :)
It basically just goes back and forth, and once in a while it stops. It has a hole on the top of it's head though, so when it stands still there is a spike sticking up from it. :P
I use Sculptris or Maya for modeling, and animate in Maya. I'd say Sculptris is easiest to use, and much quicker for organic forms. It is basically useless for very edgy things, and sometimes Maya can be best, but ti is a bit harder to learn. :P
Ah, then it was Matt. I'll see if I can't just speed it up a bit. The GUI will probably come to some solution sometime. :P
Well, I'm glad you like it! ;)
The walking animations aren't perfect in terms of tempo. Which character did you play as? I'll just speed it up a bit. ;D
There is a little bug with the walljump animation, yeah. Sometimes it keeps holding it, I still haven't prioritized it that much yet. I'll get to it sometime.
But about the GUI... The system Unity has for GUI is kind of problematic. It does not seem to have that much of a clear solution on different screens. Still trying to figure that one out. :P
Alright. Just remember that a lot of things will change and improve, it is still in a sort of early phase. ^_^
The lava is glowing. I have lights on it, but it doesn't have a glow effect. I'll try to add it but no idea if it'd work.
The early trailer is a little bit old right now, but I suspected you meant that one. It's a boss called Skullzilla. But anyways, I haven't been very happy with the walking animation for it, so that'd ,ale sense. It never turned out that great. Other than that the animations are fine though. :P
Orange t-rex? Not entirely sure if I know which one you are talking about. But about the animations I really don't think I need any kind of tutorials, it has gone pretty well and barely anybody has mentioned any issues with it. Still though, if you can specify more about the orange t-rex I'll have a look at it. ;)
But yes, I suppose it is nostalgic actually. As it says above, it is inspired by many great similar games. But if not other great platformers like this one appears I would love to make a sequel sometime, haha. :P
Thanks for the feedback!
1. I'm afraid you misunderstood the special moves though! You described the basic attacks, who are in the game right now. What I thought of was more like... Special attacks. Such as one character maybe firing a projectile with side special or something in that direction, with unique special moves to each character. (You haven't tried out the demo as you said, so I don't blame you for not knowing about the basic moves!)
2. Consider it done! I still have more spots for characters, and the female ones so far are cute, so why not. :D
(The only thing that has stopped me is me worrying about having too many!)
3. I agree completely. Many levels look a bit too dull. But it depends though, it is supposed to have a cartoony style, so detailing it further would have to be done in a cartoony way, to keep the style. I'll try to detail the terrain more with more textures at once at least though! ;)
Thanks again, feedback has been low so it is greatly appreciated! :D
Thank you! I will try, I just hope to get more publicity and attention before getting to release. :)
The point of the game? I guess you mean the plot, or...? Anyways, you can quite clearly read it up at the description. :P
Thank you! It means a lot, as I'm still trying to gain some popularity. :)
Thank you! I am very glad you like it. :)
Thanks! Sorry, didn't mean to disappoint! Anyways, there is a good chance of it appearing later today. If not, it will be soon as you know. ;)
Thanks, glad you like it overall. And yes, the scorecubes do indeed give more score of course. :P
Oh, I didn't see your comment before now. IndieDB annoyingly doesn't give any kind of notice for it, it is especially hard to notice in the gallery.
...Anyways, I am really glad you like it, I haven't gotten too many responses on it yet, so it is great to hear it is a good thing. But I can promise it will only be one of several challenges, but it is probably the biggest extra one. To access all challenges you also have to beat the game with all goldspheres collected as well, which gives a nice treat at the end, along with at least one new challenge in the arena. The arena itself will be accessible after the final boss of the game, not including all challenges of course.
I also have a very similar photo like this, except with the bosses instead of mini bosses, but I choose not to reveal it as bosses would be more or less massive spoilers with a few of them. ;)
Thanks! Yeah, the items certainly spices things up, alone or not. The game is really starting to shape up, yeah. A lot more interesting stuff is popping up all the time now. Glad you like the stuff. :P
Ah, yeah, I can safely confirm this. There are a ton of ups and downs in the process, but eventually getting where you want it to be is satisfying in the end.
What I like to say is that if I'm not happy with it, I'm not done with it. A game should be made with a strong passion for it to be completed, but in the right hands it can become a great game in the end.
On a completely different matter, I have seen this project quite a few times on IndieDB by now, and I think it looks pretty neat, so I should wish you good luck further on it by now. ;)
Norsk også? Hehe, takk uansett! ;)
Thank you! Logo might get more detailed in the future however. ;)
Some unexpected changes have been made. I'll post about it soon!
@Guest: Good to hear! It might be free either way, but that is undecided as of now. You would get to play it earlier than most others though, as well as helping development plus your name in the credits.
@gafe9397: Alright, I hope you like what you see in the future. ;)
Well, I didn't say you ARE a beta tester, I meant that you should try becoming one when the game gets far enough. ;)
300 subscribers in a month sounds pretty good if you ask me, but if you do gameplay because you want to and not because of subscribers thats good too. Maybe you'll be one of the testers later on, if you apply for it. :P
Oh, thats cool. ;)
Just a question, how many subscribers have you got? :p
Anyways, it is an idea. Just track the game and remind me. I will be asking for beta testers later on anyway. ;)
Well, even though I am glad you are asking, the game isn't nearly finished yet. I'd suggest tracking it, and follow what happens during the development. Then getting yourself the game when it is done or at least ready for an alpha/beta. ;)
The chandelier isn't completely aligned with the fountain and the hallway, so unless that was on purpose, I'd change that. :)
Also, my personal opinion is that it's also too empty in the room, but you decide that.
Nice, I'll check that out too. Developing a game has always been something I've wanted, dunno if I'll ever get there though. Anyways, gonna read your post now. ;)
Awesome! Looking forward to it! Also, good luck with your game. ;)
Looks very nice!
Doesn't seem like the scariest monster I could imagine, but if you made it into a custom monster inside the story it would be awesome, like every custom monster. So i wish you luck with that. ;)
I didn't know people were very excited? That really does help me get motivated, so thanks! :p
Now we're talking! ;)
Thank you for your nice review! Much appreciated! ^___^
As you can see, i got a nice little logo added in. ^__^
Thank you! Glad you understand. Hopefully most others will too. :)
Where have I seen this before...?
I could, yes. But sadly that makes the game lag, so the snow takes quite a lot to have on-screen, sadly. But I hope it is enough snow to make it good enough.
I really don't know. I never had a file called _MACOSX. Try putting both into the custom stories folder.
It's in the room with the blood trail, and the body getting cooked. Inside a bowl.
No wonder why. It makes the story very unique if it has new things, and is well made.
Thank you! I hope you will like it.
MACO? I'm not really sure what you mean. Could you explain a little more please? Thanks!
That is true, yes. I will probably need to release some fixes soon enough. ;)
Report any bugs. There might be some still in there somewhere!
Looks interesting. Tracking. ;)
Errr... A jumpscare story that takes that long to make? I doubt it. Either a mistake or some kinda noobish thing. Looks noobish enough already, so I'm guessing suggestion 2.
The monster is now ported over to the Amnesia model editor! There is hope! :D
Report any bugs! I might have screwed up something, if I have, tell me.
Aw... Thats too bad. I think he would want that hug quite a lot. xD
Note: Walk cycle animated. Just having some problems getting the different animations and the model into the right file type.
It's a little shiny, I know that. But that is because of Blender, it probably won't look as shiny in the game.
Yes, that is indeed true. But as this is my first monster, I want people to get a bit interested in the CS. Maybe if I somehow manage to make this monster, I can repeat the process and make another one, that I don't show too much of. I hope you like it anyway though. :)
Agreed. Dark underground dungeons are way too common. ;)
Uhm... Whats he doing there? And I think the map is a bit glitch on the right. .___.
It isn't released yet. I will finish my other custom story, Oblivion: The Gates Of Hell before working any more on this one. ;)
Thank you! :)
I think I will release as chapter one though. I just want people to play it so I can get feedback and make part 2 better. :)
Thank you! :)
Sounds like an idea, but I want to use more time on th story and map itself than the preview pics. good idea though. :)
What does SCP-087-B mean?
I noticed that just now! Thanks for commenting bro, i'll fix it soon. ;)
I hope everyone gives it a try. :)
Looks good. I may play it. :)
My first CS! I hope everyone tries it! Coming out soon!
