I'm actually ahead of schedule, I had said I was going to wait until finals were done, but I've had some free time and have more or less finished the re-write of this tutorial.  It's basically the same information as the previous one, but in a much cleaner fashion.  This tutorial covers importing basic textures as well as creating the blend textures required for your subdivision surfaces.  I just have to go through and edit it one more time as well as make sure everything works 100%, there was a small issue with the blend textures.  This should be up by the end of the week.
