It means you can write a small snippet of code, and know that it will be compatible with hundreds if not thousands of other snippets of code, and that you can turn them all on and off, or tweak respective settings in a nice little menu.

Get your hands on Unreal Anthology and look at it yourself, you'll see just how good a system it is ;)
