Hey - Just wanted to update this question.
I've had a few months to play around with the Oculus Rift DK2 and what it has to offer/ various other demos and I'm completely blown away by it. I can't make any promises but I'd kill to have it implemented into Bushido.
We're aiming to have a bunch of different heads that you pick from, they wont be tied to class.
Internally I'm creating these faces with 'who is this character?' in my mind to try and bring a bit more character to them than the heads we used earlier in the project. But just to be clear, we want you to be able to use whatever face you want in the end no matter the armor! ;)
Body customization isn't currently planned :(
I'd really love to, I think they're a great historical icon and would bring a lot to the table visually. Unfortunately in order to do them justice they would need their own body type which means existing sculpts of armors and other customization elements would have to be re-created as well. Currently they're not on the essentials list for development time reasons but it's something I want to be able to do.

Nah about 90% of my work outside of Bushido have NDAs. So I really only post extra bits and pieces I get done in my free time on here or on flickr (though flickr is mostly WIP stuff).

We're fans of chivalry (some of you will know we originally started this project as a mod for their game). I think what they're doing is at least a different take having all sorts of different warriors from history battle each other. We're obviously developing only Samurai, and only warriors from that part of the world/ time period.

Jokes aside, you wont be able to modify the body type as all armors have to fit onto this one. You'll be able to change the face/ hair though!

Thanks ahmedmed. Yeah this is the character customization scene (work in progress).
We may expand it do include a full dojo which can be used as a duel map as well.
Currently we don't have dual-wielding planned. We will have a huge selection of weapons (huge), but anime stuff like the zanbato won't make an appearance, we're going for a more authentic feel to the armory.
As for women on the battlefield, we want this to be a possibility, but it essentially doubles our workload on the character customization and animation. For now we're focusing on the male characters.

They take a roll similar to the knight, however this mod is more than just a re-skin there will be major game-play tweaks too.

The shiruken is based on authentic designs from the Ninja Museum of Igaryu, we will have several more versions however (including the more hollywood 8 point shiruken)

Yeah, Sam done a great job on this. I love the feather work. Can't wait 'til we've got this beast in action.
As Sam already stated - we definitely plan on changing things up from chivalry while keeping it's core elements intact. I should add that we both have experience in animation so at this point it's really up to what the SDK allows. I just wanted to point out that it will not simply be a reskin of chivalry, hope this helps.
