it's totally wrong that this game can run dx10 or even dx11 in this state. the game-exe is just doing dx9 rendercalls (haev a look if you want), so it doesn't matter what you'll write into the ini-files.. dx10 or even dx11 won't work. its dx9, get over it.
so sad that most of the newspages featuring this mod doesnt have a clue or even proof it before releasing such bs.
"the effects are not in-game" the effects seen in these teaser-shots would fit the mod so good in-game imho. would love to see these inside the playable build... you have to find a good coder or if you already have one: ask him to do it. :D

don't get me wrong! the mapping and the details are great, the shot and the scene is awesome, really. but if i would change something i guess it wouldn't hurt if the groundtexture (soil) and the stoney walltexture would get some stronger norm- and disp-maps. they look a bit flat. ;)
question: do the tombstones have more texture "eyecandy" then the walltexture of the house, or the ground texture on the left for example (norm-maps, disp-maps)? the reflections look brighter and the overall look compared is more "vivid"... they kinda stick out, literally ;)

finished the demo a few minutes ago, LOVE it! great new gameplay ideas, beautiful artdesign, nice visuals (i am kinda impressed ;)) and smooth controls - felt just great, very original and unique but also kinda oldschool! again, thanks for sharing the demo. :)
had one crash at a time, where i cutted a bit strange i guess... i saved the .dmp file, where do i have to send it again (if you are still interested in these crashreports)?
awesome sharp textures (like in-game then?) also nice to have him almost completely filled with shadows - that you can recognize his weapon because of the outline against the lit-up ground is also well placed. nice :)
to answer your question: yes it would be! :D they should finally improve the lighting in source, especially for the sdk and all the modders out there. maybe with the next official source game some bigger changes will be made here. let's hope for it. ;)

projected textures are the only way to "fake" realtime light at the moment, but it's also the weaker cascaded shadows/ global illumination system... valve should fix the possible amount of "env_projectedtextures" (in garry's you can have as much as you like...no more room in hell, got like 4 flashlights with no problems - l4d fail!), or finally update the sdk with all the fancy stuff added recently (l4d, l4d2, dota2 -> global illumination!, cs:go -> gloab illumination)
in cs:go FINALLY this 8 years old shadowbug is history... ( Youtube.com ) nomore projected shadows overlapping with lightmaps.
best way is to combine shadowmaps and lightmaps, like the new shadow engine in the update cs engine does. hopefully there will be an sdk update someday adding all that stuff to make it easier for modders to have eyecandy without switching and editing and converting so much. done. ;D

it looks kinda "burnt in" on a screenshot, especially in these environments because there's almost no foresight at all. that's why you can clearly see the grain before that misty shroud, especially on a freezed image. it's nice on the move, believe me. ;)
really nice perspective and good use of colours (black, red, white always looks good in my eyes :)) - the dead guy (chris?), did he fall to death?! looks like it. much emotion in this scene, i like it.

i did a small overpaint to underline what i was saying back in 2010 - no offence, just want to help! the eyes of these characters are way to small imho - made them bigger, the forhead "space" smaller and rearranged the basic headshape and the "chin-end" under the ears just a bit to show what i mean.
yeah the speakers in that corner make sense, of course. but the door position in 5.2-5.3 looks kinda "wrong" imho. i would give it a try. :)
love the wooden door's, the architecture and the overall atmosphere.. even if it's _really_ dark. the good old flashlight is a good thing to have here i guess. ;)

i like the models, hands look great and they are interesting characters, but:
i would strongly suggest you redo the faces, these are the weakest parts of your models imho. for sean i wouldn't stretch and oversize the hairtexture to use them as streaks in the face, i would go with new ones in better resolution - even if they are sitting well here and fit, they just look lowres and stretched. i also wouldn't make his beard so solid - especially the moustache.
are you gonig to use other textures like norm- and disp- beside diff-maps too?

so many people misinterpret the voice acting which makes me really sad.
it's such a NEAR PERFECT balance between ironical and exaggerated parody ("over the top" soldier's acting, the "gay" scientists) and serious and professional casting as close as possible to the original. beside that to these critics: tell me a name of ANY MOD with better voice acting? even full-price titles these days are worse or at least as amusing BUT without meaning to. ;)

i think you shouldn't trust wikipedia always, since it's a source for great knowledge but not guaranteed to be the always the truth - people just forget about that fact.
egypt is very, very fascinating, you should search for alternative information sources on how they MAYBE got energy, what the pyramids COULD HAVE been and beside these theories have a look at some of the FACTS about the mathematical and physical details of these massive and impressive buildings - why so many people died or got sick after entering certain areas inside these massive buildings at the first visits... such along time after there was noone anymore. do you think it's "the dead taking revenge once their burial chambers had been disturbed."... i don't think so. supposedly there has never been a dead body or a mummy found inside a pyramide or any of these "burial chambers", but what was inside them instead?
i don't say that you have to believe everything, just stay open minded and get informed. ;)
some sources also say that there where no torch appliances inside the great pyramids found eather... also no recordings that the first people who visited them found walls inside blackened with soot. only hollywood repeatedly suggest that these have been there - just as often as they've actually been there. ;)
that's why i love this screenshot. it combines myths with theories, great atmosphere, lies and conjectures. you can chose what is what.

two ideas: for the "stealth testlevel" it'll be awesome to create a night scenery for this. bright fullmoon, stars some clouds... stuff like that... that'll be done pretty fast i guess (chganging sunlight, skybox, light colours?) but add so much more atmosphere already for this task i think. ;)
for "the unarmed fight": make give the enemy idle gestures/animations if he tries to stay away... like tapping the ground with a foot very fast, or mocking the player with taunts. jumping backwards if the player gets to close should also look nice and then you won't have the problem with him not facing the player while moving backwards.

cool inside informations, i am interested in seeing more of these wip and inbetween dev-stuff like the textfile picture or the first model screnshots... that's always cool to see i think, especially if there's such a big progress visible to the final product. even if it's just "sketchy" and rough, old stuff for you - please show them. ;)

looks good, maybe the blood it a bit to bright in its redish colour (less saturation maybe?). are the flaws and holes come after each other, depending on the damage?
awesome texture! if you add flora i wouldn't do too much and keep it at the edges to meadow or a forest for this kinda ground. looks good as dead as it is to me. ;)
much better with the pda that close and i like the maintexture, if the material is dull it'll look like that and this way its way better camouflaged = more realistic. maybe you could combine the two versions (more far away and this one), so that if you pull the pda out you have to press another button to get it that close and view the actual location in detail?!

works and i am impressed! thanks for sharing, can'T wait to see and play more. btw, maybe a small bug i found: after starting a taxi-mission i got out of the car and punched another guy often, then suddenly the monitor turned white... sound was still there, menu still worked and the "mission failed" (taxi) screen still appeared, but with everything white. restarting the game worked.

was no offence, dude! i never ever played "brink" once, watched some concept art pieces (loved the artistic style), some map presentations, some renderings and thats about it (i think i saw the best parts then) - just thought that these guys at least attempted to realize similar ideas and... without sounding too much of an arse, i think the listed influences where obviously gappy - that's all and about it. :)

but there's one thing that breaks the atmosphere here imho. at the end of the road, on the horizon theres a sudden stop... i don't know how far the player will be allowed to go near that "end of the world", but i would try to conceal/mask that area with some plane brushes in the back, some propmodels, an edited skymap or all techniques combined together.
anyway! you write in the description it's a wip-shot, so there will be changes i guess. :)

have to say that i love the look and feel of your images and trailers so far... there aren't many source mods out there that can produce such a unique atmosphere, getting away from all the "presets" and fill up there game with selfmade props, textures and designs - only using the engine as a instrument!

i have no problem with that ;D only thing i don't like is that the tags are also behind the chairs, and that the left side is almost emty. don't get me wrong! i love the detail and overall look, but it'll add so much realism to the scene if the size of the tags would be smaller and the places where the sprites are added would make more sense ;)

the atmosphere is really outstanding in both, especially under water,
but one thing:
i know it'll be harder to spot them (gameplaywise) but wouldn't it be much better for the atmosphere and more real-looking, if the water would be less translucent and less "sharp" under the surface (IF it should be deep at this point)?
