The point of DayZ are other real people. If you want single-player experience wait for State of Decay (PC, X360), which is being developed since 2010. It's the closest to DayZ you can get in single player in terms of world and survival but also very different in some aspects.
What did you expect?
They listed 137 mods released or updated in 2012 in their "MOTY Year in Review" articles and they didn't mention Black Mesa - one of the biggest and most ambitious mod ever made. Apparently there were 137 more important mods this year - fascinating.
Awesome! What tools have you used? Is it for some kind of a project or just a hobby art?
Where is Black Mesa?
I'm afraid DayZ will win. Black mesa is an amazing remake, but just a remake, while DayZ is a new remarkable phenomenon like Counter Strike or Garry's mod or Dota.
(of course my vote is for BM).
Valve hasn't even contacted with them yet.
This IS the full release.
Xen will be a separated mod (probably called "Xen").
BMDM is also a different build.
Are you implying that DICE workers decide about modding support in Frostbite 2? LOL.
It's confirmed: THIS YEAR! :P
You ARE wrong. Happy? ;P
Silly marines don't know that Gargantua in BM can be killed only by a scripted event...
Multiplayer will be added some time after the release of single player build.
They just don't want to show anything from Xen. They keep it as a surprise.
Is this Portal 2's engine?
Is it going to be an indie game? :D
Dino D-Day, Nuclear Dawn and Dear Esther don't use someone else's intellectual property... Black Mesa does. Source license is one thing, IP is another.
Quote from BM's website: "The developers will never charge you for playing mainly because we wouldn't want to make people pay to play, but also because it would be ILLEGAL to do so. "
Except compiling a map with good shadows can take whole day while in CryeEgnine it's real-time.
Valve has a farm of computers for this - modders don't.
Unfortunately, they won't get a single penny. Charging for it would be illegal.

2.3 GB of new content and 2243 new commits since November and people still call it dead.
Updates by Stormseeker on the Wiki:
"Questionable Ethics is one of the more heavily modified chapters, taking what was a limited and illogical layout from the original and giving it a more structured look. It has been EXPANDED VASTLY concerning the size and number of labs available, whilst adding the correct features you would expect to find in a laboratory that deals with live xenos and potential sources of contagion."
"Details have been added including INTERACTIVE EXPERIMENTS, fully readable and detailed whiteboards with accurate interpretations of xenobiology and anatomy."
"There have been some EXPANSIONS ON THE CHOREOGRAPHIED SCENES to incorporate these extended areas, and where it was thought to have been an anti-climax in the original design, certain features have been added in to counter that."
It HAS NOT been 8 years. Do the math.
They started in January 2005.
BTW, there isn't a single thing in the mod that was made in the first year of "production".
Most of the current build's content is less than 3-4 years old.
No, Black Mesa will be released BEFORE Episode 3.
Ep3: 2013 at the earliest.
Source 2007 is the newest one that modders can use to the full extent.
They just CANNOT update to newer sdk.
No, it was a short video:
but you are WRONG. One of the leader devs doesn't even want to work in gamedev, it's just a hobby.
My only concern is the new art style (fun theme).
I had much more fun playing Overwatch than Team Fortress 2.
I couldn't get into TF2 weapons feel and movement. I need some pleasure from shooting in FPS - it's quite good in HL2, COD or BF, amazing in Quake 3 Arena but horrible (for me) in Team Fortress 2 or Battlefield Heroes.
I hope you won't be trying to make IA! a combination of TF2 and Red Alert 3 or something like that :(
Anyway, I can't wait for the first screenshot ;)
