1860s Old America

Mod review

I'm sorry for not reviewing this great work of you, Gab! I was a baaaad boy, and you reminded me of being so.

This mod was of my Very First ones (maybe even first, but I honestly can't remeber :D).

It gave me a unic expirience in the gaming, one of the strongest I ever had.

Don't missunderstand me, mod's far from being perfect, that's why i can't give itt 10 out of 10, at least for now - We'll se what you will accomplish in 1.0!

So, Let's be direct.

1. The first thing that grabbed my attention, even before i started playing. The music. Goddamn it, the music. I was blown way, by your collection of differrent soundtracks, you chose for your mod. Goddamn, i think i knew a lot of them before!. All those are classic.

THe only thing is - I yhink ther's honestly not enough of them, I think you could make more long and complex compilation, but you had other things to do, so i don't mind. It's just after a month of playing, i was alittle too accustomed to it...

It could you some MORE variations. And if youl'd like - I could introduce you some more of those, which would fit in perfectly (on my opinion).

2. Your mod - is (yet, we still wait for the Calradia: Blood & Steel - 1870) the only one, portraing my favorite era - mid-late XIX century. It's already hard enough to do it at all, but to make it as good as you did -That's something to admire!

The atmosphere is perfect! It engulfs you whole, god, It totally makes me feel like I'm in a Western! Not eben some crappy one, but something like...

Well, for me it's "The good, the Bad, and the Ugly"! I mean, I know all the "spaghetti" stuff, but the era is completely the same!

3. The Scenes. You took your time to do all this job... Goddamn it's beatifull. And authentic. I mean, from time to time they could seem kind of all similar, but that's not really that bad! At least it's not native.., :D

4. The charachters. It's too long to discuss it all, i just love it. Each and every one. Well, at leas - alomst everyone! :)

Whew... I can actually keep on talking about good sides of the mod for eternity. What's more important - Is what I DON'T LIKE about it.

Yeah, I don't like a few things.

1. The MAP. I know... I know what you wanted to do, AND the amount of effort ehich you have put in it... It's just it doesn't work properly, at east not all the time.

Let me explain myself here.

I understand, that to actually make the map this big to be playble is really hard. I mean REALLY HARD.

But... For example: Your map in 1775 is Marvelous. It's big yet liveable enough. It's great. It never seems so empty and uncoverd as 1860's..

It's barely operable with it's sizes - it's hard even for NPC.

And I have no Idea, Why can't you make it more like that. maybe it's not enough time, or you think it is good as is right now.

But for me, It seems like you got 2 options here:

a. Make the map itself somewhat smaller.

b. Add a tonn of new locations, and some new charachters to own it...

At least for the Northern part, Mexico and Indian territorias, in my opinion, are good the way they are.

2. The Nations. I have... VERY complex feelings about those... Really complex.

Well to start with, as far as i heard, the mod had the Canada, but you removed it in later versions. Why? I mean, I know you probably answered it on forum, but I still think that's a mistaker, at least it seems to me (amybe I know little about your reasons...).

For the good part - I think, Mexico, French invasion an Plain Indians are really good.

But Union and CSA... Oh boy... I mean, don't missunderstand me...

But they are so BLEND. I mean, Aren't they supposed to be MAIN nations, those, where the biggest part of the game takes part?

It's no that they are bad... it's just for the main charachters... They're not GOOD enough. They are too simple, and after some time, playing them becomes really boring, I honestly think it could've been much better, I pray we see something better in 1,0!

The Settlers... I honestly think that wa
