Hi there - it's not "dead" in the sense that it's complete and playable, but I don't foresee creating more releases for Narnia Total War myself. The player base for RTW mods is not large nowadays and I have many other projects including my own games and fantasy settings to work on. I know some other people have been working on more detailed model packs etc for this mod as submods such as the Fall of Telmar submod, and I'm entirely happy for them to do so.

Onr problem with the Tomb Kings for this was the model limit, the other was with the models directly. More so than most factions, the Tomb Kings' more powerful units tend to include a lot of visually unique models like Scorpions and Scarabs which are much harder to animate and replicate in the Rome: Total War engine.

Hi - thanks for the compliment! Unfortunately, paid work on this mod will not be possible as a result of the obvious intellectual property rights issues, and I couldn't do a remaster of this without both that sort of funding and an extremely high level of input from dedicated 3d modellers, neither of which will happen any time soon. But I hope you can enjoy the version that's available here!

In the notes from some of the other posts from people having similar issues, there may be an issue as follows:
"Managed to break the parts of the update down and found out that its the descr_mercenaries text file. loc.\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

The only new line of text to the original file was under the (pool estalia) as,
(unit Knights of Myrmidia) and there seemed to be an extra space under this unit that isn't supposed to be there.

If you delete this extra space the main mod and update work perfectly and allow the menu saving system to work again."

All factions should be playable: intermittent save bugs are unfortunately a feature of the game being nearly old enough to go to university, it's a large mod and Steam updates have destabilised parts of it over the years. I don't currently have the time for the extensive testing needed to create a more extensive patch system at present, but note the guest post below from Feb 2 in case that helps.

Yeah, I've not been able to engage with this stuff much but if you ever want some input from me just drop by the forum sometime, I'm much more active on there than I am on ModDB these days.

Hm, that's a fair point. Thematically Koraly is quite medieval-Roman mixed, heavy inf and archers, chainmail, etc, Munesh are pikes and camelry based with a slightly Punic-Greek theme, Erina is a foot infantry faction with a somewhat middle-eastern look, and Surval is very sub-saharan African themed with zebra cavalry, elephants, etc,

Hi, as I've said in the most recent update post above, I'm providing tech support for this mod only really via the forum now not ModDB, I can't check everywhere at once to the extent I used to. Sorry!

I'm not planning any future releases I'm afraid. Too many other projects going on nowadays and the player base is too small for interest.

General reminder to all commenters; before you comment, consider commenting on the webforum (which is linked in the profile box at the top right) rather than here if it's something you actually want any kind of response to - there you will get a response probably within a day, certainly within a week, rather than commenting here where I maybe check 2 times a year nowadays. Thankyou!

I don't have any plans to produce further versions of Narnia Total War at this time, no - I'm mainly focused on a standalone game I'm making, the book I'm writing, and my webcomic at the moment!

Many of those aren't "my" models to begin with, the details are in the. Please drop me a message on the webforum and let me know what you specifically want to use, and I'll check whether I have the permissions to pass those models on or not. Thanks!

I think someone did some Let's Plays with it at some point: I never got round to making much video content for it myself admittedly. Happy to see people do more if they want to!

People are welcome to do that - I'm happy to support people doing more work on this, but I'm hardly short of other projects and there's quite a few days' worth of graphical work to do which just isn't really my wheelhouse. It's not as if anyone's paying me to provide mods (and, these days, other creative stuff) - so for most projects you have to pick an end point, unfortunately.

Yeah, in the target you should then add -mod:WHTW outside the quotation marks.

Ushabiti would've been cool yes - one of many things that would've needed a modeller which I didn't have for most of the project.

Re selection maps - yeah, it's one of a few things (also building images) that would be quite a few days worth of work to do and these days I'm much shorter on time than I used to be - as I've said elsewhere, if other people want to put some time in then I'm happy to support that, and I can be found on the forum (linked in the profile box above) anytime. I check ModDB quite irregularly nowadays.

I like my dragon islanders so you have to put up with them, tough! :) Also, zoats are great, and they're useful from a game balance aspect - with Norscans it would've made it extremely difficult for Chaos to expand properly. Vampire Coast is already represented by the VCs starting with the relevant province.

And yes, everything's pretty old, I did the main bulk of the work on the mod over about 5 years from 2008 to 2013. There's a lot of stuff where a good model/skeleton editor could have helped a lot - I think there's two big issues regarding missing units, one of which is that RTW won't fit many more (there is a hardcode limit) and one of which is that I didn't have a model specialist working with me for most of this mod - there's a few custom units made from before I started on it (Elves, Chaos & Empire mostly) and then a few bits of extra one-off custom stuff people made for me (the tank, the beastmen, the lizardmen). But skeletons/anims are super hard to edit which is why the skinks are slow. In the end I decided to call it a day largely because the remaining stuff that needed doing was very graphics-heavy and that's just not really my area.

If anyone wants to make edits to balance stats or add provinces, those are quite do-able; just make a thread on the webforum (linked in the profile above) and I can talk you through that process.

Can you narrow it down to a specific unit that you think is causing the problem?

You can run it with steam fine, just go into your steamapps/etc/etc folders and find the actual .exe, then create a desktop shortcut and edit the shortcut, which should have a target line that you can add the -mod section to.

There's a players' guide on the forum, which is incomplete but I'd be very happy to offer assistance if anyone wanted to expand it (or indeed start a wiki). The current user guide is here: Exilian.co.uk

It's modfoldered and doesn't require any original game files to be changed, so it should be fine running alongside other mods.
