Report RSS FINISHING A Project Is Hard

Posted by on

I'm a month and a half behind schedule. I keep finding random bugs in Platform Explorer. Flash CS5 seems to randomly shut down for no good reason - I spent all day yesterday dealing with an odd "5003 Unknown Error" (THISworked, by the way). All I want to do is finish this game and move on to the next one. I consider myself to be lucky that I can be so calm because working at the pace that I am is getting to be... annoying.

I've written about the process of finishing a project before and being in the position of ALMOST completing a project is interesting to me. It's amazing how all of these tiny details that I either ignored or didn't notice end up taking up so much time. But, it's exciting - I have a blast working and I feel great that I managed to stick through and finish another game.

In fact, I'm VERY proud of the fact that I'm going to finish another game. It may not be the best game in the world, but I did the best that I could. And, hopefully, that matters!

Now that I'm almost near to the end of Platform Explorer, all I can think about is what I'm going to be doing next. I don't just mean what game I'm going to be making next, I also mean marketing stuff. I have to send out e-mails and fill out a bunch of forms after Platform Explorer is done and that's no fun. It's incredible how a project never seems to REALLY get done. For example, I was recently contacted by a Facebook games server about putting their API into Earth Tower Defense. I finished Earth Tower Defense 3 months ago and there still might be work with it!

Overall, however, I'm happy and am looking forward to completely ANOTHER project. Hopefully, I can parlay that success into a meager amount of money...

By the way, Platform Explorer should be finished really soon. So, be sure to check out the game page!

Also, sorry for the somewhat boring posts lately. I've just been spending all of my free time on working on the actual game. Since I'm so close to the end, I just want to focus all of my energy on it's completion...
