At long last early development of my mod "Silent Town: A Story of Madness" has come to an end. Like I said what finished is just "early development" which means maps, models, full story, musics, and sound effects are not finished or anywhere near to finish. If you want to know what I have right now, it is concept of the maps, color concept, concept of sound effects and music, gameplay concept, and sufficient level of knowledge in Source Engine.  Let me tell you about the concept of the mod. First of all this is a horror adventure mod and most important thing you should know is this mod does not have combat (the cause is not important for now). It will be first person, not third or other (at least for now I don't plan to, but suprises may happen).  You will not be using weapons (definitly no firearms, but melee combat can be included, or not). So most Half Life fans will be dissappointed with the mod I guess, but my goal is not making another Half Life 2, my goal is creating a horror experience. I think I should make it clear this from start, I am a huge Silent Hill fan (especially SH2) and as you can guess from the name of the mod, this mod will try to create a SilentHill-like experience. I am not that arrogant, so I will not say I will be making another Silent Hill, this is not correct, but I will be creating an Silent Hill experience with my story and my imagination. There will be lots of similarities, this is unavoidable, but when you see it and find some difference, don't be shocked. This is all I can tell for now.


Mod page will be created eventually, but it is not that close. I should at least finish two or three maps before creating a mod page. According to my plans this will take three or four months. I am planning to achieve a playtime of 30 minutes to 1 hour in the end of the mod, but this is subject to change, and again  "according to my plans" mod should be finished in a year at most. I will not hasten and I will make everything one by one. I will not be depending on quantity but will try to make something high quality. Thus, a shorter mod may arrive at the end of the progress.

About Base Game:

Half Life 2: Episode 2 (The Orange Box is needed)

About Minimum System Requirements:

Mod will require a fairly powerful DirectX 9 Video Card and at least a PIV processor. I know Half Life 2 works on most machines but this mod will need most advanced features of Source Engine and without them playing this mod will be meaningless. This is a mod that greatly depends on graphical experience. So, expect lots of props, decals, overlays, big textures, smoke, fog, dynamic lights, and shadows.
