We have received a couple of comments where people told us the same, so it is probably "not just you"... :-)
CaptainSource and the rest of the modelling crew is constantly working on all the NPCs to make them look like as authentic as possible, but as you just stated, it is a pretty demanding task. :-)
I would like to inform the community that I just finished setting up a forum board here at ModDB to let all the members voice their opinion and inquire for information not just on our main forum but also here as well. The forum also contains a recruitment section where we will post all the vacant positions we have in the development team. Currently, we are still looking for a coder. ;-)
Thanks for your encouragement, Aeneas... ;-)
We hope that a couple of coders will indeed apply in the near future. There's a lot of coding work to do... :-)
@ChromeAngel, Orion2Sirius: Thank you for your advice. Yes, the arguments in favour of this kind of PRing indeed makes sense... It is something that we (or rather I, as the PR-guy of E:TCW) should follow.
Thanks again for the recommendations, guys... ;-)
@NullSoldier: Yep, the modelling and mapping crew (besides the coders, VAs and our talented animator) do their best to make everything look as authentic as possible. However, as we stated at the end of the report, we could use some extra help on the mapping front... ;-)
@DarthZew: Sure thing. As soon as the mod will be released. ;-)
As for your idea... I think that releasing a public beta would work fine if E:TCW were a multiplayer-oriented game. But since the mod is focusing on the single-player aspect, it is more reasonable to release a teaser (and the mod, of course) only after our QA team deemed it as bug-free as possible. ;-)
As such, it would not make much sense to release a single-player beta, THEN the final single-player mod a couple of months later, because the bug-free product would not generate as much interest in my opinion as it would be able without a preceding beta.
Thanks for your comment, Christian. Personally, I don't share your concern as I think that most of our supporters are looking forward to playing this game not because of the visuals and/or the game engine which runs under it, but rather because of the universe in which it is set. :-)
That said, we hope that most of our supporters will play the mod regardless of the age of the Source engine. :-)
As for the percentage: now that we have a very talented animator on board, we slowly but surely pick up speed. The maps of the teaser demo will soon be completed and some of them are started to be populated with NPCs. :-)
Wow. Let me react in some points to this long and nice comment... :-)
1. Why Enterprise? Firstly, because we like the series and can just smile on commonplaces and half-truths saying things like "It was the least popular of the series". As there was no official polling among the fans about which Trek series is the best/worst/more respected etc., it is safer to just state that it was the most controversial one. Many likes it, many ignores it. :-)
Secondly, we decided to make an ENT-game because both the TOS and TNG timelines have their own respective games, but there has not been a game so far that focused only on the ENT-era.
2. It might happen that the plot of an upcoming episode would call for the usage of a post-ENT vessel, but at the moment, we plan to faithfully portray ONLY the ENT-era; the middle of the 22nd century. Also: our intention with this mod was (and is) not to create an FPS-conversion of Legacy, but to create a free videogame focusing solely on the ENT-era.
Right now, the demo version is about 40% ready. Most of the textures and models are already completed, we are working on the maps, sound, music and general scripting at the moment.
Good to hear that. Unfortunately we have some small glitches with the forum engine right now, as we have just finished switching to PhpBB 3.
We're in the middle of dealing with the problem at the moment. :-)
Thank you, Stenchy. :-)
We do our best to make the mod enjoyable for everyone who loves sci-fi mods... No matter whether they are Trek fans or not. :-)
Read MR21, and you'll know... :-D
Yep, you had better put that phase pistol back to your holster... :-D

Thanks for your remarks. Our modellers are still working on the character models, so expect to have all the minor issues fixed. :-)
Thanks... :-)

We will do our best not to let that happen... ;-)
Excellent trailer, excellent work! :-)

No one liked it? :-)
I sense a little overgeneralization here... ;-)

I hope you understand my reasoning. :-)
Not to mention that there is no reason to compare an upcoming free single-player mod to an MMORPG that will have a commercial release... :-))

Thank you for making this tutorial Crispy. :-)
I have already sent a link for our beta testers, as there is a LOT to learn from this article.
Personally, being the beta team leader of our mod, I can't wait to read your upcoming QA management tutorial. ;-)
Media Release 21 is going to be released in the near future... ;-)

3. Borg Wars haven't merged with us. :-)
I play this mod on LAN with my bro' and not counting some minor telefrags, it works like a charm... Keep up the great work. ;-)
Yes, the mod runs on the Ep1 version of Source, and as such, it will NOT require Episode 2. ;-)
Right now, the demo version is about 40% ready. Most of the textures and models are already completed, we are working on the maps, sound, music and general scripting at the moment.
As soon as we are certain that we can keep that date... ;-)
Two words: Excellent job. ;-)
Thanks, Orion. You guys are also making wonders with Unreal Engine 3... ;-)
Thank you for all the encouragement. This just affirms the necessity of making the mod as accessible and understandable for everyone as possible. :-)

As for the third person view... We will consider it, but as for now, we do not intend to implement it... ;-)
Not yet. But development is coming along slowly but steadily. ;-)
Just like we... Thanks! ;)
