I work for a software development company making all sorts of different applications for different clients; however, my true love is game design/programming. So, a lot of my free time goes into working on Expansive Civilian Warfare (Roleplay 2). One day I hope to become part of an actual game design company but for now, I’ll just stick with my free time projects I suppose.
Last Stages of Development? What are you posting from the future?
UFO flying over the city.
UFO charging.
UFO firing at some Civilians.
Blazea taking fire from a UFO.
Good old 1.4... Actually no, 1.4 was horrible, what am I saying :p
We felt we could grow more and faster without any restrictions that pkg or mix provided (Plus, ren has been slowly dying :( it saddens me but I was tired of not being able to play whenever xwis went down).
Sorry, I keep missing updates on this site, work got pretty hetic for me, our 3d modeller has been doing a lot of work rebuilding the shoreline on the north side of the island.
Plus I want all of Blazea's new stuff in it. Technically, I could make some massive updates, but it just has not happened, when Blazea uploads his pictures of the game I'll be able to post some new stuff with that I suppose.
It’s just that many of the changes I've been making lately are in the code to either add new features or improve performance; and most new features I add aren't that interesting to be shown in a news update.
Thanks, it is undergoing a lot of changes; I have a few more new buildings to add in, possibly more depending how much our 3D modeler gets done, and then I'll be ready for another internal test, and then possibly a release.
It’s not that I won't release until Rp2 is finished, it’s just I won't release until I think this release is finished ;p
Plus it needs to be very stable, as that is one of the main things that make people leave the server.
Just wait tell the next relese when its actually stable lol.
It’s faster for them than creating a new account every time they want to contact a different person I'm sure.
Yeah the previous release had many issues, I'll talk to Brandan and see if he can help you out, however that last release is nothing compared to the upcoming one.
CHEESE FOR EVERYONE!
Oh wait no; probably just means the remaining 3-team member have too much time on their hands?
The current release of the game is somewhat unstable, however if you can use the Online.exe to connect to the server that is probably the easiest way. However, you can also start one of the Game###.exe's (### = the draw distance in meters). Then you can host a LAN game, to host a single player LAN game do it with only 1 player.
As for the GTA similarities... I myself have not played it enough to know really, I do know the terrain does somewhat resemble GTA SA. However, ever since I became the leader of the mod I have made it my goal not to duplicate a game that now has user made multiplayer (SAMP).
Yeah I'm having that issue as well now that I installed a clean copy of Rp2 on my laptop. I think Brandan's server is having issues sending out the update data.
I believe I validated your account; the forums were under siege from bots attempting to register but failing, so the validation e-mail might have been blocked from leaving.
What e-mail service are you using?
The style uses GTA:SA's font and the text is made out of cars lol, going to be part of the new intro movie which is much shorter and smaller; should help reduce the size of the next release.
No worries, none of this stuff is in the current release, next release will have all of it and hopefully we can have pinned down whatever the hell causes that bhs.dll error.
You have to join on the server via the "Roleplay2 Client.exe"
You might have to refresh it to get the server to show up, but it was the only way we could bypass having everyone needing to have a WOL account... Or Hamachi, which I hate.
I'm not sure why it'd crash, I know that it can take a really long time the first time you launch it, but it shouldn't crash the first time you ever play it.
Everytime I try to join a server I get the message "Server authentication failed. (3)" don't suppose anyone knows the cause of this?
Sorry that I didn't see this sooner, I usually only remember to check the main rp2 page. To host a game all you have to do is go into multiplayer (from any of the game.exe's) and host it a map with a player count of 1.
2 is the same as 1, just do a player count greater than 1.
3. The game your hosting in LAN should show up in the multiplayer window (the host/join screen).
Your IP didn't fall into any of those blocked ranges did it?
Really good work guys, will be nice to have a reason to play halo again. And I suppose the best part about doing a flood campaign will be that you don't have to make voice overs, you can just display text with flood sounds lol.
I wasn't really part of the community when a lot of that modding was going on, so I don't know much about it, I'll try to remember to ask Canadacdn next time he's on-line.
Hard to get a hold of now that most of the player base has moved on, 2-3 years ago it'd have been really easy for me to make some videos, now its a lot more difficult to find a time to get enough players together to record them. But I'll see what I can do.
Mutant Assault and Renegade Comet Busters is a lot easier to get videos of however since they have a more straight forward objective to them.
To each their own; however, any suggestions on what we could do better?
