I think the low price point makes up for the microtransactions well. Seems to be quite fun from what I've played so far.

Am I the only one who sees "rail-holding in magma" as a quality use for elves?
Thanks for the welcome.
My current Fortress is getting close to spiraling towards some FUN (what with the Vampires and the Ghosts and all that), so I'm sure I'll have a tale or two to share.
It's without question inspired by DF; I don't think anyone would be silly enough to deny that. But it seems to have its own way about things, and it's probably going to steer a little clear from the depth that DF offers in exchange for accessibility.
Once in a while, a game similar to DF that isn't quite as deep can be quite a relief.
It'll be a long, long time before a game could begin to approach the depth of DF, but not every game really needs to be.
It's the first game I've played since Riven to give me that "Aha!" sensation when I finally get a hang of everything going on.
Well, not everything. But soon I'll have built a doomsday weapon.
To be fair, it's not trying to be.
I'm all in favour of expanding the Dig Deeper, Greedier genre. Gnomoria looks like a positive step.
I'm a little confused. I only see one true type of FUN. :D
