They call it open-ended, but it's not open-ended. Oblivion is a lifeless sandbox game that tripped and fell down the uncanny valley. The much publicized radiant a.i. is an aborted fetus. Except for some of the dark brotherhood stuff and other odds and ends, quests have single scripted solutions. In trying to keep with its "epic" premise, designers forgot that some towns have outer walls that are 3-4 feet tall in some places, which makes the demon sieges a complete farce.
Need I go on? It'll always be inferior to truly open-ended games like Gothic, where the graphics kinda-sorta pale in comparison but the gameplay far FAR superior.
I hated Oblivion, but completely-built-by-hand intrigues me... And 50 hours! This type of stuff puts it on the level of a full fanmade game/expansion, like T2X: Shadows of the Metal Age, which is very rare.
I've never even heard of this before MOTY, never seen it on the front page, never heard people talk about it, nothing. I don't even remember it being one of the top 100.
I've been a NS player for years, so to support NS2 I promise to buy a copy regardless of winning or not. But if I do win, I'll pass it onto my friend so he can get in on this indie fine-ness.
:) that's good, the UI is artistic I like it a lot.
If only this wasn't on Crysis. I.E. UE3, it could be standalone. God I'd get into that.
Dang, alpha's finally about to start. Only a year late but finally time to get this traveling circus on the road.
Alpha, beta, retail... There's gonna be a lot of fixing to do. But if this can do what NS did it'll be better than the big budget AAA titles.
Man I've been waiting for some news to show up.
Wait, what happened to the Money Cat in the interface, did you change it??? Interest falling :(
Haha quirky, sounds kinda cool.
Sumo block!
You guys have someone to proofread the English? The FAQ has good info but boy is it poorly thrown together. Just hope the game isn't like this.
released in 2006 and still going, still updating
:thumbs up:
that wallkick the other day desperately needs better animation
sick sick atmosphere mod
I love 1.3, will love 2 a lot.
Sunglasses at night?
My vision's augmented, like Jack Nickelson.
And I recommend Redsun2020, great mod, cast from the DX mold.
lotsa good changes
but I don't like the ugly hud, texture work on the new weapons seem to vary. small compare to the overall scope, but I'll wait and see.
Hmm from the trailer it looks pretty good
I will try it
Very nice, I like the tiger knee pad a lot :D

Interesting. Does it play like Oblivion?

Obviously nobody's played NS2 yet, but I've played NS extensively, and I wanna suggestion that gas at least have a little bit of effect on heavies.
The dynamics in NS were such that aliens are obviously inferior to marines in lategame when both sides are highly skilled.
Did May have zero mod release? No highlight video yet.
I like the monthly highlight video :)
what's the point of making pseudogiant even stronger? he's always an ammo sink that I avoid rather than try to kill.
Can't tell much from the shots posted. "I've never seen you before," and I don't remember seeing you around" are the same thing.
if this gets released next year and lives up to its promises, it'll place 1st easily
I'd like to view the top100 in the order of votes.
Nice. NS2 as expected.
I'm gonna try FOnline right now.
would like to see a video of it
looks fantastic

Now I'm curious why so many voted for it.
Whoa so complicated.
But it sounds like fun once things get going. This is why PC gaming's great.

Looks and sounds fantastic.
