I also wanted to say that i really really like the rendering in this engine. Models are very good too afcourse.
There is one thing i dont understand. In last video you show bonsai tree in wireframe render, how the hell do you have leafs placed differently than mesh is. I mean leafs are placed in different dirrection that mesh plane is and they even shouldnt be there. How did you achieve this?
Music is really nice, but i would personally much rather hear something brighter and faster for main theme.
I think that this is a bit unfair question and all 90% answers to gameplay are not exactly right. What i want to say is that in any case visuals are ombined when judging game. I am sure that if Half life had its good gameplay and it would just be plain 2d textures, not even 80% of current players would consider playing it. So that means that player would even not play game even if he see that gameplay is good, becouse graphic is repulsive. I belive that players in general just expect graphic to be somewhat good. But this does not mean that it should be or it is a must.
In any case i think that visuals are combined with gameplay when judging for sure and not just some side track when deciding.
Well it has been great. I cant say too much right now since i havent deal with all tehnical aspects of our scene yet but as far as it goes for pipeline and level design Unity is great.
As fan of metallica i have to say good name of game! Also gameplay looks great!

If you guys dont release this engine for indie community (not free afcourse, but affordable to indie) that would be a dissaster.
From videos anyone can totaly tell that this is engine is even twice easier to use as Unity.
Dont forget its a game not mod:D.

This animation technology you guys got there is amazing. I think that later on Phoenix engine could power some serious sword fighting game. With that current animation and ragdoll tech would be awesome.

This is exactly what am i trying to say. Players think about gameplay when judging game, but the fact is that 50% of players "throws game away" just becouse there is bad graphic, and not considering playing it. Probably there is small percentage of those players on Indiedb community, becouse this players are usually developers themselves and they know what to look up for. While other AAA gamers usually close game trailer after 1 milisecond if there is any sign of bad graphic.
Well most of those models were made 2 years ago with my beginning skills at modeling/ texturing so you might cut me some slack:D.

And besided all critics of their work i personally think they are doing really great job. And i am also thinking that they wont be using free version of Unity, not becouse of graphic but most becouse of splash mark, which is not acceptable for AAA game.

This looks really promising as some people already said, it might change modding community for another 100% like moddb did. Way to go Desura, and hopefully it will become bigger than Valves Steam.

Oh completly agree with Dragonlord. There is arround 10 AA indie teams and probably more than 30 others that can stand next to them. All of them should be on this list. But on other hand all teams that have been puted on list deserve it becouse they are good and defenetly in those top 30 teams.
Congrats on Unigine contest win. I will follow this project closely and i will for certain ask you in few months what do you think about Unigine since i am interest in it too.

I have to agree with Savci, but overall great job.
I agree that water looks way to good to not be used. Audrey please dont listen to people who say that water is not good, i think that it is 10 times better than any flat plane water. Maybe if you could make it with scrolling displacement shader or vertex shader that would be even more awesome.
