I'm Nick, aka jacksonj04, and I'm Mod DB's Community Manager. I've been with Mod DB since way back at the beginning, and did (at one point) actually mod. On a personal side, I was born in the UK and have lived there ever since, and I'm currently studying Computing and Cybernetics (That's robotics for those who don't know) at the University of Lincoln. Hobbies include Scouting, kayaking, and the ubiquitous video gaming. Here on Mod DB I look after the community, am one of the English language experts, and I'm also the one you should end up at if you're lost, confused, or otherwise in need of help that nobody else has been able to give you. I can't promise to put your life in order, but at least I can make sure your profiles all work properly. If you need help just drop me a PM - I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Report this article The Updates Continue: PMs get the v4 treatment

The observant amongst you may have noticed a brand new button at the top of the page, next to your username and updates counter. Yep, PMs are back with the full v4 treatment.

We've taken some of the cool new features such as threaded commenting and groups, turned them around a bit and stuck them to the PM system. This means that you no longer end up with huge rambling conversations taking up your inbox, they all stay together in one big conversation. You can even have two conversations with the same person going on at the same time without getting too confused. However, the best thing is the way we deal with messaging groups.

If you send a PM to a mod team or group using the convenient link in their profile (Down the right hand side) then your message is not only sent to the entire mod team, but everybody is connected in the same conversation. The same happens if you address a PM to more than one person - everybody can see the entire conversation and all the replies in one place without the need to manually piece through the entire thing and see who replied to who and when.

It's been a bit slow coming we know, but we think it'll be worth it. I know I've had a fair few PMs already, and it's nice to be able to keep tabs on everything at once.

Still to come: Forums and Help Wanted. MotY is slowing us down a bit, but as soon as that's over (It'll be well worth the wait) we'll be back to full speed development.
