User Posted ImageUser Posted Image...new year 2011!

Finally, I am writing the a new blog entry. I barely had time in the last 4 weeks and therefor updates were missing. There is not going to be a blog about reviewing 2010, because I am lacking time and motivation for it.

Quite some stuff has happened in the last month and now (4am) I can write about it. During the christmas holidays and New Year's Eve a friend of mine stayed over for 2 weeks and we basically just played games and all that stuff that we've done when we were going to school together (hadn't seen him for 4 years). We had a lot of fun together and I am looking forward until we can meet again.
But, it is also nice to have time for other stuff again, too, as I spent all my time for my mate before.

The internship at the artschool is taking more energy than before, because I am now working 40 hours a week, which means I have almost no time left for other stuff during the week. Either because I don't have the time to do something or I don't have the energy to do something. Therefor, I have only the weekends left for Concept Art.

Also, I have joined 2 Modteams and I already did some concepts for them, which you already know. I'm not sure how much energy I'm going to spend on those teams, because I have little of it and I want to start my own mod.

The idea of creating a mod myself came up a few weeks ago and I already collected a lot of images for inspiration. I tried to come up with innovative concepts that capture the feeling of Mirror's Edge, but I somehow couldn't think of good ideas. I was forced to stop working on it, as the internship was really draining my energy during the week.

But, yesterday, I had this super cool dream. I can only remember the end of it, I was seeing a train that had an enormous amount of containers on it and I was talking to someone that I really like the idea of the containers, but I dislike what is going on inside of them. After waking up, I immediately wrote down what I remembered and I also wrote down how the game could work and how the artstyle should look like. It's funny, the dream was actually using the HL2 engine and everything in the dream was looking like HL2 models, so the decision which engine I'm going to use was easy.

Since waking up, I am working on the main character sheet, the overall idea of the game and the two concepts that I've uploaded to the gallery. Talking about "my own mod" dosen't mean that I'm going to develop it only by myself, after I've worked out the design document and maybe a few more concepts, I am going to recruit members to the team.

It is called "Mindworld", uses the HL2 engine, is about surreal dreamworlds/lucid dreaming and uses a lot of cinematic atmosphere/story telling throughout the game. I'm going to post another blog entry, when I've worked out the whole design document.

stay tuned~
