I think you should tilt the camera a bit :/
Both males and females don't mind playing the other sex in a game. Usually girls have a higher percent of willingness to play as a male.
I think it's a mistake when a game limits you to a male or female, at least in multi-player.
The SDK is in the multi-player. You'll need a "Source" game made by Valve to access Hammer. Compile using the DMMaMmp tools. You can make maps for the DEMO and Multi-Player only, I was unable to make a SP map.

This took many hours, sometimes tedious work, for over a year. It was at first just a camera mod, then turned out to be much more. I also realized all these games use the same Config.cfg and I had to dig even further.
As for my main config(World of WarCraft), that took over two years of World of WarCraft playing to develop. You must also consider my constant hotkey changes over Age of Empires II, Counter-Strike, among others to develop such an advanced ASDF config. ASDF touch typing hotkeys are far before my time though.
Simply put, hotkeys are the most important part of a video game. I'm trying to give players options that can make the game more fun or amp their skill to a whole new level.
Try the hotkeys menu out, you might find one or two new hotkeys that are useful. What I'm really trying to do here is make you think about your hotkeys so that you rid yourself of bad hotkeys, move the best hotkeys to easier places to hit, and just get a better overall control of your game.
Some games allow combo hotkeys. "ALT-Z", "SHIFT-ALT-Z", "SHIFT-CTRL-ALT-Z"
I think they had that single/multi-player mode in Perfect Dark. Somebody was Joanna and the rest are the enemies.
Too bad about The Crossing, Dark Messiah is a great game.

Being able to tell if a player is touching you or if you're touching a wall would be a nice feature. Probably take a lot to code and unsure about the badwidth needed...
And are you using config.cfg? What does it look like? Do you use the same command names as Quake/Half-Life?
It's a small/simple(Well probably not really) feature that could have a good impact on the game. It'll help newer players and players that have been playing 18 hours that day.

I don't really have that problem. Maybe like once or twice a year, if that :P I'm just saying it would help, even if slightly.

I thought it mainly depended on if you put a bomb or hostages in your map(and maybe the de_/cs_)?
Do you use info_player_terrorist info_player_rebel or perhaps both?
Do you use SteamAppId 215/218? Does this mount CS:S stuff? Do you use the same entities as CS:S for mapping? Do commands like sv_knivesonly 1; sv_pistolsonly 1 exsist? Do you use a lot of the same console command names as CS/CS:S?
Yeah, I figured that was gonna come sooner or later too. However, I do still feel that it's hard for some people to figure out what team they're on.
Perhaps change the life color to red/blue and or the vest/helm color.

I would suggest adding a "what team am I on" "something". Maybe just a small red/blue block at the very top left or something.
Will you be using Quake/Half-Life's Console and Config.cfg system?
More console commands, less developer/community.

hmm, so in other words I'll be moving slower as I gain levels/equipment... I find games with both a walk button and a run button annoying, MS's UT double tap system isn't my cup of tea either. In UT you can dodge in any direction, so, only +forward is :/ Also hurts as you gotta hold the button down the entire time, limiting strafe jumping quite a bit.
As for cheating single player, I seen the save files. I tried opening with text, but I don't think that's going to work.
Since you like creating weapons, how about the Grand Marshal Warblade from World of WarCraft?
