Hey there! I'm Shadow, involved into Unreal-Engine Editing (Coding/Mapping) since 1998, the year Unreal came out of course. My first attempts were small SP-Maps for both Unreal and UT which were never to be released (to n00bish..). While mapping and improving over the time I got heavily influenced by Sci-Fi series and Fantasy stuff in matter of build and architecture. In the year 2002/2003 I initiated a small SP-Campaign which will later be known as the Total Conversion "Lost Secrets of Na Pali" (short: LSoNP). It was cancelled in 2006 and now I'm working on a Development Kit basing on the features LSoNP brought to the Unreal-Engine 1. So much for the Nerd-Stuff. You won't need an enormous team unless you're gonna make it so long, thats it's gonna take a decade to finish. How long did you estimate for it to be completed by a normal gamer/noob?

I can imagine it is troublesome: I have also created a lot of texture content for a possible Kamah 2 which never got real through. At the end I only realesed a small map containing a little bit of the content I created before.
I also was looking forward for a CMP3, but I have to accept the facts. Since I can not take any UT based content with me - means my several tons of textures I edited and modified I also have to restart. Right now I am working on texture #1, a very simple bark texture. Great, isn`t it? (slightly ironic)
In your case Shadow you have some kind of advantage. For the ones like you "The journey is the reward". Unlike a map for instance you can not reach a real goal anyway. There would be always some work to do for you, even if it would end up as bug fixing only. Since you release every month the UTSDK-source code along with the current UTSDK-engine version, it is up to you when you want to stop developing the UTSDK.

damit wär ich absolut einverstanden. ich suche zur zeit sowieso noch leute, die interesse haben und wollte dich vllt eh fragen. denn meine fertigkeiten beschränken sich "leider" auf das mappen und vllt ein paar concepts, hauptsächlich halt designerische aufgaben. ein paar eckdaten, das is nich so leicht.
ich dachte an ein szenario in naher zukunft, zwei (oder drei) großmächte kämpfen um territorien. eventuell könnte man wirkliche (ehemalige) großmächte nehmen. ich dachte an die sowjets gegen die alliierten. es gibt bücher in denen sich das dritte reich mit den alliierten verbündet. so etwas in der art fänd ich interessant.
die mod soll eine multiplayer-mod werden. man hat verschiedene klassen mit dementsprechenden waffen zur verfügung. dabei dachte ich an sehr moderne machinengewehre, pistolen, raketenwerfer etc, wie beispielsweise das m4a1-m203 oder ähnliches. beide teams kämpfen auf mittelgroßen offenen schlachtfeldern um die vorherrschaft. ölraffinerie, militärstützpunkt, atomkraftwerk, militärhafen, um mal beispiele zu nennen.
aber ich bin sehr offen für neue ideen. mich würde freuen, wenn du mitmachen würdest.

Ich weiss schon, dass es eine Menge Arbeit is, aber letztendlich will ich es doch versuchen. Im Moment bin ich ja noch dabei ein paar Team-Mitgleider zu rekrutieren, denn wir sind nur 3-5 Leute, die das auf gar keinen Fall alles alleine schaffen würden. In Foren aktiv? Naja das ist vielleicht zu viel gesagt, ich bin in unrealed.de zwar angemeldet, aber nicht wirklich aktiv. Ich schau öfter mal vorbei um meine Fragen beantwortet zu bekommen, das ist auch alles.
