Hey, just to calm the winds a bit, this is not a "complete remake", the maps are not being remade from scratch or anything like that, it's mostly just a port to the new version of the engine to make the game work, with a few other fixes.

Hey guys, sorry the game is broken right now, it was a steam update that broke everything, someone on our forum posted a "dirty workaround" to get the game to work, but it will require you some work, for all that is interested:

Sounds like a memory leak, exit the game and re-launch it, should help.

Try to verify the integrity of your game cache.

Go to your Steam window and go in the Tools tab, and right click on Source Sdk Base 2007, then click on properties.

There click on the Local Files tab, and click on the Verify Integrity of Game Cache button.

This should fix most Local Files errors, which are VERY common.

Go to options, sound, and check the close caption section, there should be subtitles for everyone who talk.

Playing the entire thing (prologue, the two houses, chapter 1) took most playtesters around 22 hours.

Hen7 Aug 20 2013, 7:06am replied:

You won't be able to use your save, however you can start right from the new house and play chapter 1. It is however really recommended to play the new version of the prologue again, as it contains many fixes and new features like the inventory and endurance system, etc.
Also, beating the prologue and the prologue house will "affect" the new house.

It comes with a new version of the prologue as well, so you might want to wait and play that.

Guys, I just want to take the opportunity to say again that you're about to play one if not the most amazing mod ever made on the source engine.

I've installed it but when I run the OpenRA.exe nothing happens, I can see the mouse cursor change to a clock for half a second and then nothing, no process in the taskbar as well. Running on windows 7, any help?

I can say it proudly, this is by far one of the BEST games (not mod, game) that I've played.

2 - I released the VMFs so you can always edit the maps yourself and make them GMOD compatible.

You can take the models from NH2 itself, it's not the source files but if they are really needed we can do something about it as well.

Grats to Forgotten Hope 2, but I'll be honest here, I don't think it's exactly "fair" to have both SP and MP mods in the same competition, we all know MP > SP no matter what, but heck, it's just sport. ;)

You can say the same about F.E.A.R "stealing" from THE RING, you can say the same thing about THE RING staling from JU-ON, etc.
The idea of having a creepy girl hunting you has been out for years.
The basic idea of having a scary girl like in F.E.A.R lowers the whole score to 4/10? that is not justice, you shouldn't do game reviewing.

Okay a bit after the middle when you meet the army guy (which had a great voice actor) the mod became really good.
The ending scene made me hooked, have you guys started working on the second episode already?

Hen7 Oct 19 2010, 6:44pm replied:

They don't have to be idiots, I'm not an idiot (as far as I'm aware of) and I had problems.
But yeah, like I said, things like this can be easily fixed, so in case you guys are making a second episode or a patch remember it.
Also, I gave a small tip about beta testing earlier, you have NO IDEA how much it helped us.
Btw your weapon animator is f**king amazing.

Speaking of beta testers, huge tip: always ask them to record demos of them playing the first time, it's GREAT, a lot more then any "beta report".

I knew you'll say something about the radio message, so yes, here's the problem; it was very hard to understand him at this point (I'd suggest you to add subtitles next time), you used ambient_generic instead of a faceposer scene at this point so his voice didn't paused exactly when I had to pause the game and didn't noticed.
Except of that, when the player is so depending on a radio hint make sure to replay it every few seconds, and so.
I had a similar thing in NH2 in case you played it, when Romero tells you to go back somewhere, you can check and notice he'll replay his hint every time you're back at his room.
But really, I'm not trying to bash you or anything, I'm just trying to help.

Also, I'm holding myself from saying a few other "bad things" because I know how hard is to make a mod like that (I worked on Nightmare House 2 for 4 years to make it perfect)
But if you want a constructive criticism from someone who pretty much made it to the point where he can notice anything that's need improvement tell me and we'll talk over PM.

I gave up in the mansion, having to run around with no f**king idea what to do drove me crazy.
Also, the lack of the ambient sounds made it even worst.
As a fellow modder I'd suggest you to beta test your stuff a lot more, in every single map I've played in the mod I ended up most of the time running around trying to understand what to do, and not because it was hard or challenging, but because of simply bad level designing.
I'll try to continue this once a walktrough or something will be up.
Also, why the hell did you disabled noclip?! to force people to get stuck?
