lol. best advise just look on tutorials, my cousin learnt how to model a detailed bullet in 30 minutes. and there are bound to be texture and unwrapping tutorials.
lol yeah after 1 and a half years of practising you get to know it, look up some tutorials on unwrapping uvw's there is a lot of tuts on it youtube, tutorialized.com are good and there a couple of tutorials on modelling a good one for texturing on this site is 3d modelling a glock for source but download the texturing bit, teaches you how to unwrap uvs and paint the textures. and i have to admit i was really **** with max it took like 4 weeks to model a assault rifle now its something like 3 to 6 hours. youll get better with practise. and max is a better program than sketchup if you learn how to use it.
if you have uvw unwrapping skill in 3ds max you can unwrap whole model them you place the template in photoshop then paint it and the texture will be applied to the spots where they were applied in photoshop, there is no other way i know of, especially for a model that came from sketchup, i have used sketchup at school but i have not got full knowledge of it. but for max there is a bit i know. have you googeled this, maybe that can help. :)

as i said the model is just a standard and there is already grass, my computer cant handle something like grass actually sticking out of the ground i wish it could. my computer has bad hardware. the trees are not so hard to do.
i listen to everyone if its easy to do. some things i cant fix is because i already deleted the model. yeah thanks for the feedback it does look more natural, i want to learn how to model my own plants and stuff. a plan i had for this scene was to put lion statues and flowers but i think ill do those things some other time.

how do u know its weak, becasue u played cod the gun is quite powerfull in real life.
a m249 saw is only 4 to 6 kg in real life no point in making 10 to 20 kg americans made it to be lightweight and can spray tons of bullets.
that looks beautiful, to be honest nothing else needs to be added or fixed look perfect, good lighting models textures all is good. better than me comrade :)
not really experienced with sketchup is the texture your using support 3ds max, and are there like uvw unwrapping like 3ds max, if there are no possibilities of textures for converted model texture it on 3ds max by going to the object - unwrap uvw - select each side of the model - then render the uvw template by going to tools and select it - then put it in photoshop or paint, gimp any image editor paint the model then drag it to the model then your sketchup model in 3ds max will have the textures hard process but i hope this helped you comrade. good luck

blender is a ver powerful program i have to agree with that
i know you using blender but still a standard render in max is 5 seconds no joke vray 5 mins to 4 hours. its a pain in the ***. but the outcome is great i can assure you.

M4 model, well its too late now lol the model was deleted as i reformated my computer due to a high level virus hate those little things, big in some cases. well i might remodel it since i improved a bit.
Thanks. with the dagger model, pretty awesome i modelled it because of the design it will look better textured but i saw it in the market in a display with many other collectable weapons and i found it the most sweet looking so i modelled it.
yeah they are really good dont get me wrong but some variation is eye candy.

yea true that. the longer you work on a game the bigger and better it is, skyrim is like triple oblivion, same size map but stacked full of content and thanks to their new compression technology, they can make better looking games with less amount of size.
by clean reinstall you mean delete from cntrol panel. did that and it still has the same problem, ill try another way thanks for the help guys i really appreciate this

if your using max there is a smoothing function that doesnt use polygons it uses what its got. if your in edit poly mode scroll way down there will be boxes with number on it press 2 and the polygons you selected will be smooth and there will be no rough edges. i hope i was of help :)

giving a date is inncacurate, it takes a couple of hours to make a model, and a few more hours dedicated to texturing and unwrapping and then animating and adding constraints and getting it game ready is like a couple more hours. so you think about it is it easy to know when its gonna release when you are going to make over 80 to hundreds of models and characters. its not easy. it might be easy for you to ask when the mod or game is released. but its not easy to tell someone when it will be released because there is so much work involved so just be sure you know what your saying.

thanks for the comments guys, the problem with the magazine bit on the handle is a problem with texturing to my lack of experience, the model was exactly followed from reference images so its about 80% accurate. and there are no needs to argue if a magazine should be called a clip or a clip should be called a magazine because it down to the persons preferance i guess. I FEEL LIKE A HORRIBLE TEXTURER BECAUSE I JUST GRABBED IT FROM A PHOTO OF A FN-FIVESEVEN AND PASTED IT ONTO THE MODEL. :)
may i have permission to model these concepts you of course will have all the credit, i just want to practice some modelling im tired of modelling the same kind of things.

call of duty games brainwash since it already has inaccurate weapon names and ballistics this is a great weapon by the way
the bullet is slower thought because of its size and shape i hear i would prefer something that was meant to take people down this wont be effective because its slow without a silencer in mountain tops you will here this beast and its great for shooting down jeeps and tanks dont get me wrong but i dont like hearing people say oh this owns people but doesnt.

a mistake on my part for saying a bunch instead of a couple. :) and i think that dough effect came from the vray render and the light and these models are untextured. :)

they make it like that because all the computer technology is getting better so they ramp up the polygon count so people with good computers can buy them. :) i have a nvidia geforce 9800 gt. amd athlon 5000 and 4 GB ram so i can play crysis pretty well. :)forza is for the ps3 and the 360 is using most likely 3ds max and putting it into a game engine on pc then on to the concole. i dont know to much about how the process works but ithink it works similar to that. :) it also adds lot of realism
i remember seing on a site that showed the polygon count on most new games a crysis character actual ingame was 30,000 or somewhere near it polys. huge :) i also saw some car models ingame thay were 100,000+ polygons. forza motorsport.
hey i saw the playtest level looks like it could be in a left 4 dead game wondeful look. and the music was the best would provide a link to the song used. :) and thank you for the feed back. :D
there was smp 2.4 optional addons pack which gave a choice between winter and autumn but this looks better :)

do you mean PPSH it's a world war 2 gun. probably try making a AN-94 Abankan instead it will fit into the game. :)

its low because he did a 3 point chamfer on the slide which doesnt take up very much and the handle is not completely smooth which means there isnt much. i would just like to know how he put that curved hole in which the bullets shell case comes out of on the slide. if someone could reply that would mean so much to me. good work none the less
