This game sounds EPIC. Seriously, keep up the good work.

By the way, it sounds like it could be a space RPG but you don't call it that, is the description even remotely relevant or is this more like a 4x strategy game (there's mention of building an empire for example)? You have features that can apply to both genres so it's not 100% clear.

Cool! Well, I'm sure this will be approved on Greenlight so I won't say good luck with that, but with the eventual Kickstarter campaign :)

Congrats. Great new video too! Just curious though, why make the project about Eden Star: Pre-Alpha and not just Eden-Star, with eventually a Steam Early Access type early alpha release? It seems like a separate project in this way, unless you can later just rename it to Eden Star when the time comes rather than make an all new separate Steam entry for it.

Also, are you implying you'll release the pre-alpha/demo as soon as it's approved through Greenlight? It's not really explicitly stated so you might want to be more clear about it.

Huh? I only said this because the description specifically says Spartiaths = Spartan in Greek (rather than claiming it's a modified version of the word), yet when you read Spartiaths with these English letters it sounds absolutely nothing like the Greek word for Spartan, while with the change of h to i that I mentioned it would sound exactly like the Greek word for Spartan when read with the English letters used. Hades isn't the Greek word, it's the English word for Άδης, which instead sounds as you said like Adis. If you were saying Hades is the Greek word that too would be wrong, it's the English word.

Very nice animations, they should give character control a nice solid feel. You might want to make the name Spartiatis to have the English sound like the Greek word you want to say (currently, if you can read Greek, in English the name is read as Σπαρτιαθς which sounds nothing like Σπαρτιάτης even if the h looks similar to the η, so making the η an i should be better since they sound the same) since you're not using Greek letters anyway.

I'm glad this is still going, the mod version was most excellent (except for the wonky fighting, but that was secondary) and I was getting worried. It's been too long since we had a great game with this theme (Exhumed/Powerslave anyone? That also had great environmental challenges with wonderful scenery, even though it was primarily an action packed FPS).

Like I said, that kind of thing is natural for such a project. Of course you're not SNK! However I do think that some of the actual design choices won't be to everyone's liking (like the respawning enemies and such) but hey, what is?

GamesInquirer - - 23 comments @ Super Trench Attack™ : Trailer

Having played a little of the game I can say that its quality appears to be quite inconsistent in every aspect. For example, the 2D graphics have a unique style full of animations and little details, yet they naturally don't approach the quality of a production by 2D colossi like SNK.

The gameplay seems to have been developed with passion and includes the finding or purchasing of ammo and weapons, upgrading the latter, the completion of varied objectives through large environments which allow and demand their exploration and many more features, even a multiplayer mode that sadly only offers competitive deathmatch.

At the same time, the lack of polish and scope is quite evident. The character's control isn't as precise as it should be, while his range of movement is quite limited considering he can't even jump over small obstacles that you will always have to get around. The enemy AI doesn't present any special behaviour patterns and areas that have been cleared will most certainly be repopulated if you happen to backtrack. Even the way you get shot isn't ideal as bullets don't show up on screen but instead instantly hit their mark, which means the only way to dodge them is to be constantly on the move as far from the enemy as is possible and... pray.

Less important issues include the lack of options in the controls (which don't allow the use of a gamepad but only the combination of the mouse and keyboard) and display resolutions.

Despite these problems, Super Trench Attack remains strangely compelling and I will certainly play it again to discover if it can surpass them through the variety and humour it offers. I can only suggest that you do the same since you can download it for free, play the areas offered as a demo, and then if you so desire unlock the rest of it by purchasing it.

This looks extremely well made but the area you chose for your first video doesn't allow the game to stand out with the ideas and themes you say it will include. This particular area looks like standard dark and dreary sci-fi (with many crates!) for the most part, while your older screenshots show more unique environments, which you should probably focus on!

This look really charming I love how you have a really good excuse for all the pick ups these games have tend to have (as in this case it's toxic substances you need to clean up).

Well I've left it downloading again, it's finished those ~300MB again, still says 3 files left with no size and has been downloading for a while. I don't have a great connection but at ~400KB/s it would have finished ~300 MB a few times over by now. The folder also stays at 498MB, no change every time I check it. Does it download elsewhere first?

I noticed that even though the folder is ~800MB, after I start the downloader again the folder changes to ~500MB, which means the ~300 it says remain to finish match with the total size it previously had. So, it does seem to re-download those ~300MB every time I start it. What should the total size be anyway?

For me the downloader loops endlessly at 3 files left. It says 3 files ~300MB left, then the 300MB finish but the 3 files remain and it keeps downloading forever. If I close it and start it again it goes back to the 3 files ~300MB left. Windows 7 64bit, placed the downloader in D:\Backups\Games\DeepVoid\DeepVoid.exe and it's 772 MB.
