I hav rewritten the game engine for eat drink slay so many times that I cant count it so I understand your thoughts of doing the same thing with a lot of separated code that neads o be combined somehow to shrink the code usage :)

Are they placeholders or is it an look you are after?
Some pixel art like the airships would make it look even better I believe.

I used to experiment in agk with an raycaster and might have a solution you could try?
App game kit did not like large drawing operations on the screen and it did not help that you actually cast as many rays as the screen is wide.
I played a lot with this in agk before I abandoned it.

I managed to triple the fps with wath I called chunky pixels :)

Here would I use 64 columns 2 pixels wide.
220x176
here would I use 110 coulmns 2 pixels wide.
On an small screen so would you not see this anyway and on larger will you get a good retro feel.
Nowdays do I simply fake raycasting with simple 3d planes in appgame kit.
I where a to bad coder to get raycasting to work ok in agk ;)

I also want to recommend another indi game I noticed after we had developed eat drink slay for a while.
Its called delver and with the new art pack so does it look amazing.

The largest pain to plan a android / ios release is that app game kit basic that we use are still in beta stages and constantly change.
So with a large game like this so do we find our self fixing working code to work with fixes they do to agk many times.
Van and I hope that we will be able to release it to ios/android this year.
But the bottle neck is also that iam unemployed and cant make a living on making small games like this.
And I can get forced to take a job at a distance to where I live for peanuts,to get payed from the unemployment agency here in Sweden.
We have talked about to try to get the game funded somehow so we can work more on it?
But I hope we have it on both ios and goggles stores this year.
Don't miss that if you don't have an touch screen so do you have to click away the first logo with the mouse button.
And on the title screen so do you nead to move down the mouse cursor and click mouse to get the level selection screen.
This whas done because of an windows touch screen bug in app game kit, that forced me to code the cursor to be positioned in a no click zone at the top every time the titel screen whas loaded.
This is for the one that is reviewing the download file as I got it removed the first time ?

But the pricing will be extremely low or only for content with in app purchases.
Both van and I do this on and off for fun so the dev time will probably be long :)
Iam a tech geek and currently build my first 3d printer at the same time also.
And the goverment are a pain in the butt when you are unemployed in Sweden :)
They can at any time force me to work as a dish washer at some burger joint 30 miles from home if I want the money support.
So that will also inflict wath happens to the game :)
