Thief Dark Project is old but still great game.
To this day standards graphics are poor, but enough.
Anyway I am not really sure if many knew but reason why user made missions are refered as mods is that thief Editor Dromed allowed to modify various things in game, like ammounts of items etc.
And users could create own game system files, litteral mods with quite ease.
However thief level editor has very grude outlook, and takes some time to learn its philosophy, but then it is one of best editors I have used.
I have to say that can't be considered more than Loosely realisic, as only realistic thing is realistic looking weapons and thats it. Other than than CS is plain shooter.
Yeah well, I think that nobody wants that someone uses your IP on mod made for game of worst competitioner (MS vs EA). So it is quite reasonable that you will be FoX'ed at some point. I understand that most of us want to protect real IP (worlds, characters, story and other things that make your game unique).
So I would say that modders should little think that howto use others IP since I bet that MS would not have minded if HaloGen would have been made upon game (RTS engine?) which is developed by nowdays MS owned company... or that belongs to friendly companies.
Another thing is that hopefully NOBODY gets so sick that starts to claim historical events as IP or something similar ...
Anyhow as I have worked for my own mod project, I have been forced to dump straight few quite clean duplicate ideas, just because someone owns "trademark" upon that IP ...
Yeah well, Thief series were always my favorite since it needed to think howto get in without being noticed by guards and howto start to tackle down on crucial poinst patrolling guards :D
Deadly shadows was good too, but I have to think again to get UT2K4 just to play this :D
Anyway legacy of LGS lives strong and it will be interesting to see what things are to come...

As game, Red Faction is far more better than these "bulk gamers" let to understand. Sofar it is only game that has realtime arbitary enviroment destruction, all other games does it via scripting...
It is pitty in deed that volition never really supported RF community, or modders by pathcing that most biggest hole in gameplay.
Otherwise I am happy to see others too to be sticking modding this game.
Yeah well, RF based, doom oriented action could be fun. Still I could also give a hand since I got pretty nice knowledge in RF engine (although nobody likely belives me).
I really would like to play this game, but since my computer does not run it I have to forget about it.
But then again comes a deja vĂ» game is published by EA so there is no chance I am going to buy it since I have been boycotting EA for long now.
And interesting knowledge would be that how far you can take that enviromental destrcution.
I have bypassed this great game for some reason.
Afterall I have to say that thief engine is one of rare engines that truly opposes the legacy of quake.
And don't ask me what I mean.
What I can say ?
Simply the best game in Grand Theft Auto Series.
Listing all what I praise in this game would make a LONG list, but simply must for buy.
I thought that this well overhyped game would be someway cutting edge. ******** only relatively new thingie was that interactive screen thing, which was already partially seen in System shock 1 as it had interactive enviroment (which included some sort of computer terminals). And AI is faitful for ID software standarts as AI enemies could is in complete dark, and always seemed to know where player is.
Most frigtening tricks works just once. And that "squad radio" seems to be one looping sound track, what seems dynamic for first timer.
Result is that I am very dissapointed to this game, and see no reason to buy or play it more.

Yeah well if you got ****** with cheaters use RF 1.30 patch since it prevents from joining multiplayedr games at all if you got editor or cheatmod running.
Hmm. I haven't seen any news about this mod for while, and I am wondering that is it dead ?
This game is pretty awesome. Unfortunately developer atleast does not support game at the moment in any way. And this game has some known holes that cheaters abuse. Never the less that does not reduce the community's attitude to this game, as there has been made multiple useful tools, for server searching, and mainintaining (even without SDK).
Anyway I could say that to this day "unique" real-time, arbitrary geometry modification ability makes game to be more than long lasting fun.
And the fun is at roof, when you find an stupid modder, and own hes sorry ***.
Still this game is my choice of modding plantform (since game itself and level editor are better than most). Also I am currently working on concept and details of my mod (I hope to be able to release first versions during the summer, or even before)
I this mod going to be eternity project ?
Anyway I would say that TH was fun as single although zombies were stupid from time to time.
