Nope. They won't fit through narrow passages.
Even so, if "we" sent out someone with a good shield to break up the formation, they can be shot in the back with crossbows

Agreed, the semi auto shotguns, particularly the DAO12 are pretty ridiculous at even medium range, and has very little recoil.
