please dont make me rant about powered exoskeletons -.- lests leave the whole zt versus mutant thing alone... because it is impossible for someone to be stronger than a powered exoskeleton
but yeah manned railguns is plausible but near impossible until antimatter fission and mini- nuclear reactors.
im well aware of balance i do it myself, i wanted to make sure people knew a bit more about the subject matter. the only hting that bothers me is the particle effect :P
yes i know im just putting out some facts for people to consider insead of worndering. im a bit of a stickler when it comes to railgun realism.
ok, everyone who is arguing about railguns i dont mean to brag but i am somewhat of an expert on the matter. railguns are the most accurate non-guided projectile ever created by mankind. the rail can travel at speeds exceeding mach 6, that is 3600 mph, that is 5793.64 km/h and a small one fully charged can turn a human into fine powder at a grazing impact. they dont make a big blue zappy effect. they travel fast enough that the air behind them ignites creating a massive fireball. military grade railguns take so much power that to be mounted on a nuclear reactor enabled destroyer would need the boat to divert all power to the railgun to charge and fire. small railguns are nearly impossible due to the neccessary energy consumed. Gauss technology is far more effective for handheld application as there is much less friction allowing it to be more efficient.
railguns are extremely accurate, use massive amounts of energy and will never miss their target if aimed directly at it. they dont make blue colored zappy ness but are just a giant fireball of death. and if you were hit by one, you would die, no questions asked. there wouldnt be enough of you left to bury. its like being hit by a semi truck traveling a fraction of the speed of light
im going to be honest here, i hate the railguns in the gmae currently. the particle effect is rediculously unrealistic and zone troopers are USELESS. it would be awesome if they were changed back to perfect accuracy and the particle effect was more fire-y. then again railguns are something im extremely interested in so im a bit of a stickler
you oculd make it so it counts as a building like the mcv so if all the rest of your forces are destroyed the montauk will still function

ok here is my crazy *** idea for the gdi tacitus archive, like it or not here it is:
adds a unit and upgrade for each type (infantry/vehicle/aircraft) these are supposed to be very good
making the archive a sought after peice of technology
Infantry: zone raiders or spec ops team (a lot like the steath team but only invisible while not moving. equipped with anti infantry weapons and many gadgets (possibly a deployable hunter killer drone that functions like an anti tank grenade))
infantry upgrade: squd command (adds a zone trooper to squads, increasing firepower and health)
Vehicle upgrade: SMART armor (increases hitpoins and will occasionally fire steel balls at incoming missiles and projectiles detonating them mid air)
Aircraft: heavy gunship (flying tank to compete with scrins superior airforce, anti armor and air)
Aircraft upgrade: thermal flares (rechargeable (10 sec or so) or refillable at airbase, when targeted the aircraft will deploy flares making it untargetable for a few seconds) i dont know if this is possible but from what i have seen it should be

i think the legs should be a little longer and thinner, to give it some more bulk and prescence in the field. just my opinion, great work :D
you should scale infantry more realistically. its weird when they are as big as a tank
as a modder and developer myself i know but it is always nice to have an estimte or goal in mind i.e in a week or a couple of days. something to keep us from peeing ourselves :3
