S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Lost Alpha

Mod review

Hi everyone, bugs aside (have in mind this is a work in progress)and some crashes that I had before the new latest patch 1.30013, having in mind my PC specs (mix of really old stuff with some new but not so powerful):

-Asus M2N E Sli
-Athlon 64X2 6000+ 3.0Ghz
-4GB RAM 667
-Nvidia/Gigabyte GTX560Ti OC 1GB
-Asus Xonar DG Sound Card
-1TB HDD Sata 2
-Tacens Radix V 850W PSU 80+ Bronze
-Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced case
-Logitech G510 keyboard
-Mad Catz M.M.O.7 mouse
-Logitech 5.1 Sound system (using Sennheiser HD series as Headphones) and more stuff.
(nothing of all this impressive I know, is just to have an idea)

I must say that the game runs quite well with everything maxed out using DX10.1. Of course VSync disabled because of my massive bottleneck, I still can get frames going from 40 to 70FPS in the open areas (before the patch I had 20 to 60FPS) and in open areas or underground I have 70 to 120 or more FPS.
Which again having in mind my PC specs and how I play is quite impressive. (I also can run Misery 2.0 with average 40/50FPS)

Performance is great for how populated this game is and how different and "expensive" the maps are in comparison to vanilla S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl...So props to the guys behind this gem.

Playing in Veteran feels quite good, missions are varied and you have a lot of NEW stuff to do since the maps changed and there are new faces, kind/type of creatures all around, mutants and all what you can't even imagine "the Zone" can throw at you.

The inventory system works quite well and the artifact also works as they should like it was in "previous" STALKER games but with the addition of some variants and combos, plus the ability to create some with "components" that you can find at some places.

The Cursed Forest

Great story, great ambience and atmosphere, great level design and quite open with sense in where the map ends (for example when you reach a place where the map ends you have a "natural barrier" which won´t take out from the immersion of the game like other games in the genre does).
I like how exploration gives you more paths, opening some areas that maybe you find before but couldn´t tell if you could enter or not...but also how it doesn´t tell you where those areas are...so it adds incentives for you to explore even more in the dark night.

I really like how organic the environment feels and that is a plus in these type of games, great use of assets and little details all around. You can tell that this developer (he is more than a modder after this job) took his time to make this great horror game.

Talking about performance (I use Cryengine to make my own maps and have some fun), with my old Athlon 64X2 6000+ 3.0Ghz, 4GB RAM 667 and a GTX560Ti OC 1GB (bottleneck included in the package) the game runs quite smooth at 1920x1080p.
Not a single problem running it, or finding bugs, crashing or anything like that.

Very very nice, 9/10 and not 10/10 because is not perfect and I think no game is perfect...but in this genre is hard to make something that can impress people who likes the genre itself...I think this game does that and in a good way.

Good job. ;)

Level design is great, 0 bugs, Source looks incredible with this mog/game...overall you make an incredible job with this.

I can´t say more because it will be full of spoilers about how great was everything. I made more than 300 captures out of this mod to catch every little detail.

Thanks to the creators of this gem in the "mod´s culture" ;)

Nightmare House 2

Mod review

More than a mod this is a full, very well done, and enjoyable game.

I like how everything flows, the clever level design, the little scare parts, very nice cutscenes and the ambience.

The game should have less weapons to be a proper horror game but it does its job pretty well in some areas.

10/10 because I didn´t expect it.

Keep doing this great little but yet well designed games. ;)
