While it's not going to win awards for the most eye-catching mod available on HL, I have to admit, I have seen far worse ventures by more experienced modders and worse first attempts by amateurs.
The gameplay was straightforward for the most part but the enemy placement felt random, making most firefights chaotic.
I hope the modder has learned some valuable lessons while creating sky mesa, and as a HL mod, it's far from terrible, but unless you are desperate for a HL mod, you might be disappointed.
Buggy, unbalanced and littered with seemingly pointless levels, weapons and files (Some of which aren't even used).
The mod should have been beta tested before release, and perhaps should have spent another year or two in development.
As it stands, it's very boring and bland compared to other half-life mods.
It's interesting, but it's unbelievably short. You'll spend more time downloading and installing it then playing it :/
The layouts, enemy placement, pacing, set-design and overall gameplay are SIGNIFICANTLY better then Seizure of Power or Rader 56, but it still feels shoddy and rushed, almost as if the mapper took no time to test or polish his work.
Give it a try if you like some good-old fashioned Black Mesa action, but don't expect to bee blown away :(
Forget trying to pronounce the mods name, it's best to focus on what little story this mod offers.
That being said, I think someone should tell me what the point of this mod was.
It's challenging at times, yes, but it has no pacing and the level design cuts from realistic to surreal in seconds.
Give it a try, if you like experimenting with strange mods :/
I didn't think it was anything terrible, just sort of dull and odd.
I had no idea what I was doing or for what purpose but the level design was nice to look at and I had the feeling the creator was trying to tell a story, so I have to give him some props. :)
Having watched this mod from the beginning, even before I got an account on MODDB, I was extremely disappointed by the final mod.
It's like it wasn't even beta tested, almost all of the levels are littered with obvious bugs.
It's a shame too, because if more care was taken into making Infiltration, it could have been a classic :(
Among the oddest mods I've ever played. Getting it to work on steam was a pain since the controls had to be changed through the config file, otherwise, remapping them in the options menu would freeze me in place permanently.
But this was also one of the grossest mods I've ever played, I didn't need to walk down a hallway with some fat mans genitals spread across the floor, ceiling and walls.
What was the point of that section?
Just left me with a very bad taste in my mouth as I tried my best to enjoy the mod.
However, the mod itself is very unbalanced, difficult and buggy, not to mention the in-game models are hideously done and couldn't be more out of place.
I can see a lot of work was put into this, but in this state, it's not worth trying :(
The level design was wonky and the whole mod got buggier as I progressed. The last levels are just a pain in the ***, fighting hordes of terrorists with spread-thin health drops isn't my idea of fair.
