Mod Review on Jan 30th, 2013

Despite what everyone has said and from my initial impressions (Which resulted in tons of crashes and noclipping) I decided to give it a second chance.

And who would have thought that it would have been better? Especially me of all people?

The creator went above and beyond with the mod, with very subtle directions and free-exploration in a surprisingly non-linear and well detailed map with custom assets and prefabs sounds great on paper but. And when I cleared my head and began to pay attention more-so then normal players, I found what I needed more easily and progressed to the end, which, to be honest, was a bit of a mess and one-sided fight that would result in countless deaths for even the most hardcore players, with a series of jump puzzles at the end and a confusing button pusher that required simple guessing to beat.

Not a perfect mod, and it may offer a myriad of problems to other players. This mod is not for everybody, but it sure as hell is not a bad mod.

I hope the creator learns from these mistakes and that his next mod is better then the last :)

It can be very difficult and at times it isn't the most balanced or well designed mod out there, but those looking for some old school fun should look no further. Edge of Darkness should have you on the Edge of your seat :)

Triage was a mod I pretty much followed from the beginning and seeing it released brought my hopes up.

It wasn't the second coming nor was it the bane of our existence. It was fun and fast paced, but could use a lot of work.

Simply put, some more detail could have been put into the first few levels, the audio could use subtitles over the monotonous LOUD noises on the battlefield and to be honest, the respawn rate for the combine could use some serious reduction.

The mod is trying to emulate the frantic style of the initial COD games, such as the first and second in the series, before it became more of a summer blockbuster in the MW series then an actual game.

And to be honest. it does this very well. Too many times in COD I feel rather insignificant, like I'm a bystander watching a bunch of manly men do manly stuff and blow things up. It's not like that in Triage. I really feel like what I'm doing is amounting to something, and it really captures the chaos and intensity of an all out revolution unlike any other mod I have ever seen before in the HL universe.

And while the regenerating health isn't my cup of tea, it too is well integrated amongst the various fighting throughout the city. The two weapon slots are also surprisingly shrug-worthy instead of being a pain in the *** with most Modern Military shooters, very carefully giving the player the chance to swap weapons for an upcoming battle that deems their current weapons moot.

Amongst the game files are more, unfinished maps which I can't wait to play when they are truly finished, as the combine hospital was marvelously grisly.

in a TL;DR format, Triage is a wonderful, yet flawed treat that came up out of nowhere for some people and is short yet sweet. Give it a try.

Thank you for your hard work, Team Triage, I look forward to your next release :)

Well designed yet sparse on information regarding navigation and problem solving, many of the puzzles had to be traversed via noclip.

Simply put, there was far too much puzzle solving in this mod and it really broke the flow of the gameplay. Even though I did figure things out on my own near the end, I still felt like I was backtracking far too much.

Overall, it's not terrible as the modder has a keen eye and definitely a talent for modding, it's just that Hellsound missed the mark gameplay wise.

Depot came out of nowhere for me, and it was a pleasant surprise.

However, the first map was hard to navigate and ammo and health were sparse. But, it was very atmospheric, beautiful and captured the essence of the wasteland that could have been in Half-life 2.

The second level was far better paced and traversal and made up for the first maps shortcomings.

Not a bad mod indeed, I hope you the creator makes other similar mods, bringing concept pieces back into the light :)

It's depressing to see another mod not finished, especially with what is available.

The creators had a keen eye for details and the fighting felt tight and challenging.

I wish there was more, but I'm grateful they even released this little tid-bit in the first place :)

The demo itself was rather short and unlike some people here, I rather liked the musical touches in the mod as well as the puzzles.

While there wasn't any explanation for what I was doing in the mod, I liked the atmosphere and the level design was intricately detailed.

It is unlikely that the whole mod will be released, but the demo is not bad at all :)

Not exactly anything groundbreaking, but it's nice to play a simple puzzle and jumping mod now and then :)

During the early months and years after the release of Max Payne, a plethora of mods have been unleashed, many of them break the balance of the game and some outright ruin the experience.

This is one of the few mods that retain the balance and feel of Max Payne without throwing the atmosphere and pacing out the damn window.

If you want a mod to play through Max Payne again, then choose Ammo, it's amongst the best tweaking mods out there :)
