I'd love to see one myself as much as anyone here, but gosh getting a well working (not buggy or where AI gets stuck) settlement into the game is AFAIK one of the most tiresome jobs in Medieval 2 modding. Unless someone with the required dedication and experience pops out of the shadows and volunteers to work on the custom settlements, I don't know if there will be one. :(

I decided to go ahead and experiment if I would be able to model Whiterun for the campaign map. I left out the inner walls and finer detail for now, I could decorate it more by adding trees if the game can handle the detail.

Criticising is good, and you're absolutely right. :) The settlements you can see in the preview pictures have been placed very roughly whereabout they should be, and I'll correct their position later once the geography is more finished. I also added many settlements just as a reserve there so that I could have a better idea how the map could function in action, and many of them might be deleted later. For example, I might get rid of Guldun Rock and several other lesser places near Whiterun. It will be a matter of balancing first and foremost, and before that stage I want to get the base of the map done. :)

Mind you all that the picture is taken from an early development, many things one can see here will be changed and improved later! ;)

Sorry for the lack of previews.

The project is currently being developed pretty much by a one-man team, and having quite a hectic time in RL leaves little time to spend on all hobbies for the time being.

Once the fuzz and rush are cleared out, I'm sure the project will get some good progress made in no time!

*cough cough* If somebody wants to have a peek over the High Hrothgar take a visit at the mod thread in the twcenter.net (link in the bottom of the mod description above.) *cough cough*

I'll of course update it here too once the area is more finished. ;)

Companions are going to be an AOR (Area of Recruitment) unit recruitable in Whiterun, and some assassins from Dark Brotherhood may appear at some point in the game to the player's command, which can be used once to kill your target. It's quite close to what you suggested too.

Ah, good point. There will be light cavalry, but their avaiability will be heavily restrictioned, so that the main focus will be on infantry.

As mentioned in the Description, I forgot to add a wished Nord battle maidens -unit in the picture.

Hehe, thank you. As for the dragon making it a working unit in game is difficult and time consuming so I better make no promises on that. Moreover, scripting them to attack randomly on armies is tricky or at least I don't know a way to do it.

However, there will be randomly occuring dragon attack events (ie. Plague event in vanilla) in the mod causing terror and destroction upon the villages of the Holds. :)

Allied factions will unlikely go to war with each other during the war, but it is still possible to change the loyalty after some events. AI will be made more reliable so it won't go backstabbing the player right away. :P

I'm not certain yet but probably not. However, the Legionnaiers will be avaiable for recruitment for Imperial factions as AoR (Area of Recruitment) units.
