Well, the model was made for a other mod... there was one simple reason why one turret is with 4 barrel... the mod leader of the other mod have ask to maximize the gun hardpoint, who was 10 for one direction at the time ( now, the limit is 20 )... same thing for the side flak gun or the triple rocket launcher who was requested...

New version is planned for 2012, when the film ( Wired.com ) will be released...

along with your Z brush plugin, you need Melody ( Developer.nvidia.com )... using your original high poly mesh with the low poly one generated by your Zbrush plugin, Melody will generate a normal map for make look your low poly version ingame like the high poly one...

For info, the max triangles that the sins engine accept for a model is around the 50k...

No directly weapons but usefull in combat... civil have 4 reactor, military have 8 ( more speed is usefull in space combat )... military add 10 fighter/bomber bay ( usefull in combat too )... military have a other top plate, with more strong hull ( again usefull in combat )...

return to you wiki page, and click the little 2 between bracket... it will send you in the source section... where you find a link to www.halowars.com... the 2 between bracket is not meaning that there is two MAC gun...

Now, take a look at :

Both page are on the same wiki... in one case, the ship is 7920 feet, in the other 8200 feet... first have not the ATAF missile, the other have it... one say +52 50mm point defense, the other say the same along a comment : "citation needed" ), etc...

Don't trust the Halo wiki... all are fan based... make your own research...

In fact, guns exist on the original... they simply pop-up from the structure when needed... possible to make in sins but will eat a lot of particle...

Texturing was a choice for being able to make the difference between the civilian and military one... normally, the military version was planned to be almost black but it seem that color difference was somehow washed in sins...

In the shape itself, the front top is somehow different... canon are different... and a bunch of details are different... give me a game engine who accept a model having 10 time more poly and it will have fewer differences...

Not directly... have only a few archer pod... but in a fleet, it become a repair ship too via abilities, perfect for support a supercarrier and repair hull in space or during combat...

And due how research work in sins, all your cheap civilian model already built will become directly the military version once the research is done...

Small colony frigate cannot be upgrade, have almost no weapons, cannot earn experience, cannot upgrade ability ( remember colony/repair abilities on a capitalship can be upgraded by experience ), etc...

Goal was to remain with the Halo lore... before the war, all phoenix was civilian ship... a little before the war, in a 5 year periode, all phoenix already build was upgrade to military version...

Any way, military and civilian phoenix have plenty room for abilities... and only Canadaman know what will be the remaining abilities...

What do you mean by "pods"? If you mean archer pods, yes... if you mean the 5 hangar pods ( for fighter/bomber ) on each side of the wings, yes... if you mean some "lifeboat" escape pods, no...

Two reason for this... HALO IP is now propriety of Microsoft and i don't trust them... don't wish some of their layer on my back... Second reason is technical... sins engine allow model to be at max 50k tri but making ship using so much poly will lead to the 2gb problem more fast... and i am not a 2D artist ( texturer )... was not able to use the numerous screenshoot from cut scene due to low quality, so i have use " Google.be " for seek picture, cut piece, modify them and paste...

But you are right... by example, weapons are not a replica... deck gun was too much complex and we have model them in a similar way that the cobra turret... to my knowledge, there was no pic of the ATAF missile launcher but we have model it from the wolverine... archer pod are too big and need to be more numerous but we have a hardcoded limit for weapons in sins...

In fact, exact replica of what? A model is used in the Halo war video, a other was created for the platform game, some other shoot from other Halo game show some different shape too... a lot of bungie model change from one game to the other...

Wait to be able to zoom in game... details on these phoenix was push to the extreme... the ATAF missile turrets and the deck guns are marvelous ( there is some screenshot on the working forum )...

Just need to make a little correction about the credit... model is from File'o'soft and Koobalt...

A ONI ship ( able to become almost invisible ) is already in pre-moodeling stage and the real cov supercarrier is planned too... but don't expect a release of them before next year... the phoenix have take more that 6 month, in fact almost one year to reach his release stade ( around 250 hours effective work )...

Shuttle have no weapons or abilities, are very very small but are numerous in sins, they are the backbone of your economy, and you find a lot of them on your trade route...

The colony frigate/cruiser can be a little monster if desired... can have 10 archer pod, two fighter/bomber bay, repair drone, colonize bay, etc... need to see how Canada will make them in game...

Have use Blacksmith3D paint for the Frigate only... the supercarrier was made with wings3D and Gimp... Blacksmith3D is easy to use, specialy when you paint directly on the 3D model but the UV are not optimised... so, with sins and his small texture maps, it is not really a good option...

It was a colony ship... but once converted , it become a strong warship... when compare the volume to the attack power, the ratio can be weak... but the phoenix is huge too ( 2.5 km )... the military version of these ship is used for invade planet... phoenix is very good in these role... do you know that the phoenix was the only ship with planet bombardment ( until i created the supercarrier )... don't underestimate the phoenix... good used, it will be a very interesting ship, the one needed to expand your empire in a fast way !!!

Model is different, who imply that UV are different and texture are different... and sorry, the textures look really different...

By the way, it can happen that ship look alike for the same model without having someone copy the other... all texturer have huge archive of material... some well know panel basic texture are very successful and it will not surprise me that more of one people use them...

Myself, i use basic material texture found on the net where i add some material made by rendering 3D high poly detail...

By the way, if you have create your texture by painting it pixel by pixel, it is yours... but if you have use public domain picture/material/texture for create it, using copy and paste, it is not yours... only the composition is yours...

By the way, your covenant assault carrier at Sketchup.google.com have the same same that my covenant assault carrier ( derivated work of Blamtroid, have remain 200 poly identical on the 12000 )... but don't worry, i will not complain...

A lot of simple minded people don't realise that these ship is a capital ship !!! yes, almost all frigate class share a similar shape... yes, almost all cruiser share a other similar shape... why the capital ship can't have their own shape ? Take a look at the only know capital ship, the phoenix class ( Images1.wikia.nocookie.net )... ohhhh, surprise, it don't look like the other UNSC ship.... the general shape is more like these of my supercarrier, with a lot of buldges...

By the way, it is easy to critic once the work is done... these project have take month, a lot of question was asked, the original model have know a lot of change...

You know what, YOU can redraw it from scratch !!! By the way, you can make the all missile capitalship,the phoenix class and the covenant suppercarrier too... i am done to model for these mod, using a lot of my time for unthankfull people...

yes, but a SMAC ( S for Super ) will have take all the room... new design is more multipurpose... a lot of archer missile, a lot of SMAC turret ( S for small ) who look like a oversized M68 Gauss turret, Shiva nuclear missile... some hangar bay, planet bombardment gun, and a ion gun who disable shield/engine/electronic for a short time ( needed because these covenant are a pain in the a$$ with their shield )

A lot of time was used on the design, trying to make it look more UNSC... Take a look at my original model ( Love-from-russia.be ) and you will see the numerous mesh change ordered by Canadaman for make it look more UNSC... hey, the discussion topic on the 7DS site, is more that 10 page long...

In around 1 month, i will start a new class ordered by CanadaMan, a full missile titan ship... everybody is welcome on the 7DS site for make comment during the ship development... i am always open to make change during the work, always post pic at regular time... but never i made change once the model is fully finished like these... to much work involved...

A lot of the texture are taken from other UNSC ship... a lot of the design is taken from UNSC weapons... by example, the turret are a oversized M68 gauss turret ( mini MAC ), the sublight reactor pod use Aegis fate texture, etc...

Screenshoot show by Canada are taken with non finished texture ( next time, i will ask him for more patience and wait the finish work before show something )... in game, with the finished texture, it look like :

Nope... it is a plasma gun for planet bombardment... no so good that the Covenant energy projector but it is better that nothing...

Since the shield of the Covenant are a pain in the a$$, UNSC have develop a new ion gun ( double gun below the front part ) who disable shield/engine/electronic for a short time... given the time for the ship to use his torpedo weapons...

By the way, you need to imagine the ship being sized like a Covenant Supercarrier... it is a huge beast... Images2.wikia.nocookie.net ...

By the way, the name of the class is "Waterloo"... it is a new generation supercarrier... the battle of Trafalgar was a winning battle for English against the French... but it is the battle of Waterloo who have allow the English to win the war...

These ship is a multipurpose ship... his role is cleaning everything ( fighter, bomber, frigate, cruiser, orbital structure ) and disable shield from the covenant capitalship... allowing other escort ship like the Halcyon and Marathon class to give the final kill... the multipurpose function is very similar to the russian Soviet aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov ( En.wikipedia.org ), a mix between a European style light carrier and a heavy cruiser...

By the way, the next ship order by Canadaman ( ETA unknow ) will be more like the russian kirov class ( En.wikipedia.org )... the more powerfull ship in the world, an oversized guided missile cruiser...

The turret are not a point defense... they are a grow up version of the M66 Gauss Cannon ( Halo.wikia.com )... Good again light and medium ship ( cruiser/frigates )...

The point defense is the numerous archer missile...

The main weapons is the 10 vertical launcher for shiva nuclear warhead...

I have some long experience in the 3D world but more in the CG sector... where we work with million poly and numerous huge texture map...

For game modeling, i have only 3 month experience... and it is a real challenge... low poly model, little texture map, bad or wrong documentation ( normal map who are in reality bump map ), etc...

From the 3D world i come, i am simply someone with a hobby... far to be a professional... i know people that are 100% beter that me but unfortunaly, they think that modeling for game is not worthy their time...

PS: about one time help, don't be so sure... for now, i am busy with other mod but once i have some free time again, it is very possible that i made other model for you... but if it happen, i wish start from scratch... from the model send by you, it have only remain 500 poly on 12k poly, UV/texture fully remade... it is more fast to start from null that modify a existing model...

Texture are great... problem is the game engine and DirectX... a modified sins game who use opengl in place of DirectX give already a better result
