We are almost at the point where all the complicated work in the core code is done, it will then just be a matter of me figuring out how everything works, where everything is, what need to be reapplied in new ways (to restore A4 functionality) and applying it across all the far simpler xml files

One thought on the dominion suicide (which I know is not technically related) it seems a bit strange, something like a kamikaze death strke against the 'killer ship' would seem more appropriate or maybe just a 'micro-shockwave' type death. If it was a small team of Jemmies then suicide there and then would make sense, but when they have two massive ships at their desposal, you would think they would do something with them!

Also does anyone else think it is really cool with the loyalty of actors and star trek creators, Star Trek more than anything I can think of recycles actors like crazy!

In that teaser (I so want to see this movie!) you had Martok, and Ramirez was also a former star fleet admiral in TNG, and I am pretty sure he was Morn too!

There are so many examples of them doing this as well it is crazy!

You even meet the Primary Founder in TNG, points for anyone who knows what episode :P (she looks the same but is not technically a founder in the changeling sense, although the founder name is apt.)

Anyway, this is looking awesome! Bring on the Borg!

Kraken Cloud (Voyager) I might be wrong on the name, it was an entity that 'ate' ships by pretending to be what they wanted. In the case of voyager this was a wormhole back to earth.

I was hoping to have much more regular updates and a lot more content by now and in the future, but a lot of the issues I have been trying to resolve have taken a lot of time and generated little success, which slows down progress from both a development and motivation point of view...

But we keep chipping away!

feedback and comments are always helpful, especially for finding and fixing problems!

But also knowing what you enjoy and don't enjoy about the game! I have spent so much time buried in meaningless code that it is good to know what we are doing right and what needs tweaking!

I really want to get on to developing all of my faction specific content, but there really is no point until we can get it more stable and get the 'base game' operating effectively and enjoyably! :)

Yes you will see that the colours and many of the backing screens are made from fallout computer screens,(most notably the pedia screen) and the green matches (or is fairly close) To the green text colours used in the original fallouts. the problem with using a lot of the computer screens from fallout is that their 'borders' are very large, and there is not enough space to use them and still have space for what needs to be 'on the screen' so certain compromises have to be made to walk hand in hand with the civ system.

in terms of the game we are still very early in all the development, (although it has been months) you'll see that a lot of unit buttons have art from fallout, one problem is that the buttons are very small and the art sources are very large, so it actually takes quite a lot of effort to make some buttons, as they have to be cleaned and sharpened, etc. So in many cases a lot of time can go into one button that is just 64x64. We're are also trying to create a style and uniformity to many of the buttons rather than having a mish mash of different backgrounds poses etc. To try and give a unified look to the game. Perk graphics will feature heavily in buttons, if you look at the action buttons you will see the beginnings of this.

We have spent a lot of time figuring out what code effects what visuals, and how much we can transform these. None of us are expert coders or anything close to that, so most advancements come after long hours of trial and error, (mostly error)

As to the Leader portraits, I don't want to use 2d art, as the 3d is already quite close to what we need/want for the leaders, and the current content is an advertisement to try and entice new artists onboard, without them having to model work from scratch. (unless they really want to!)

Yes, there are already many custom units, do you mean art or unique.
Art we already have a lot of, although we are not really art guys, so we are looking for someone to help us make them even better.
If you mean unique units, we plan to make each faction almost entirely unique, with diffrent strengths and weaknesses, once we get this version stable (if we can find and fix these intermittent bugs) we will begin the faction specific content, developing oone faction at a time from the ground up.

you have to extraxt it then put it straight into you CoW folder and it will auto overwrite for you just click yes to all.

just take the contents of the fix CoW folder and move it across, not the new CoW folder itself.

The alternative is move the new fix folder into the mods folder, if it has the same name as the original CoW folder and it will merge them also.

I think the city graphic issue you are having is a different problem to the issue others are having. It may be that your computer is struggling or it may be another issue entirely but it was not the problem I was having so I don't know...
